Don't do it dangerous place 7/28/2017

Worst mistake I'm made recently was to take my choking dog to this center. Dr Scott sent me home with instruction to get my 6 pound dog oral medications and resume normal feeding. By next day she was almost dead. Took her to a different vet who removed a 1in square blockage (bully bone) from her throat. I found a new vet for my pets because they failed to acknowledge any issue with their care. Reported to DVM board. more

Stood Out 8/1/2011

The one think that stood out at Bishop Ranch Veterinary Center was that the technician who took care of my dog was very good with her – my dog is very skittish and she was great with her! more

All the staff was very warm and cheerful. Dr. Dodd “walked” us through the exam and results from the lab work. more

Thankful 7/25/2011

If I could give this place 10 stars I would! I cannot express how grateful I am to this center, the doctors, and the staff here! I am so thankful there is a place like this around here that is open on off hours because as we all know, everything happens when the dr.'s office is closed. The first time I came here my cat, Pinky, who is 18 wasn't feeling well and it was really scaring me. My fiance and I called Bishop Ranch and they told us to bring her in and they could see her. It was a Sunday evening around dinner time and no way could she have waited to see her regular doctor. Luckily our regular Vet's office in Danville is connected to Bishop Ranch Vet so all paperwork and her records were easily accessible between offices so each place had her most recent information. We were immediatly placed into a room and we waited to see a doctor. The doctor that came in eased my mind and her manner was very comforting to us both and to Pinky. They assisted us in a timely manner and filled the medicine right there while we waited. The doctor assured us things would be fine and got us what we needed. The desk staff helped us get out so Pinky could get better and explained how to administer the medicine. We came here a second time in November for the same issue and they took us immediatly even though it was a Saturday and the day after Halloween. We had to wait a while only because it was busy but the nurse kept coming in and letting us know the doctor would be in. By this time Pinky was walking around the room and wanting to jump onto everything so we were entertained. Once again the doctor was friendly, kind and knowledable and patient with Pinky while examining her. I cannot thank this place and the staff enough. As most pet oweners can agree with me, the care of your pet is a serious matter and they are a part of your family. more

In Good Hands 7/18/2011

Bishop Ranch Veterinary Center is honestly the best vet center in the bay area. Originally conceived by Dr. Jim Delano, Dr. Frank Utchen and Dr. Jay Kerr, BRVC is a consolidation of Crow Canyon Veterinary Clinic(Kerr) and Norris Canyon Veterinary Medical Center(Delano and Utchen). BRVC now employees 13 of the best veterinarians who are specialized in all areas of veterinary care. Dr. Jay Kerr has been taking care of my family's terriers for years, guaranteeing their health and safety. We will be forever grateful for your service. Thanks Dr. Kerr. Dr. Jim Delano is simply a master in his field. When he has time off, he enjoys landscaping his property and ensuring that all who help him landscape are well fed and fully hydrated. Thanks Jim! Dr. Franklin Utchen is immaculate, he has an overwhelming passion for animals, life and nature. He loves music and used to play guitar and sing. He enjoys treating people to Ethiopian food. Thanks Frank. Dr. James Pogrel recently purchased Dr. Kerr's share of BRVC. I don't know him as well as I would like, but from what I've heard from staff and clients, he is an absolute professional. If you are a new pet owner, honestly there is no other choice. Bishop Ranch Veterinary Center is the best vet center in the bay area. I know a fair percentage of the staff personally and I sleep well at night knowing that my pets are healthy, safe and in good hands. more

Wonderful 7/12/2011

We have never had a vet that showed so much care and compassion when treating animal and will continue to refer you and your wonderful team to those who have pets. more

very clear 7/11/2011

The staff who handle the phones and computers answered quickly, followed-up on my requests and when I needed to call for follow-up questions, picked up at 7:45am and instructed me on how to contact the doctor for a prescription! Everything works really well and is very clear – even the doctor’s voice mail. more

Forever With Bishop 7/5/2011

"A man's dog should never be smaller than his briefcase."" - saying from an old Esquire or Playboy mag I have 2 labs - actually I have one and the kids have the other. Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful dogs. And both are obviously bigger than my briefcase. My dogs will forever go to Bishop Ranch for their care. And considering the Black Lab is 15 (picture posted here), he needs a fair amount of care. About a year ago, the old lab got out (daughter left the front door open) and somehow his id tags had fallen off. He doesn't see or hear well anymore so once he wanders off, he really can't find his way home or hear us calling him. Long story made short - he was found by a man who happens to be a tech at Bishop Ranch. He put him in his car and took him to BR and had him checked out in case he had been hit or something. Checked out fine (fortunately), and the man then put him back into his car and started driving all over the neighborhoods where he found him. About an hour later he saw an SUV driving slowly with people calling a name out of the windows. That turned out to be my wife and daughter. The dog was returned, hugs were exchanged, and the next day an appointment was scheduled for the chip id implantation for both dogs at Bishop Ranch. We have been going since and have been impressed with the service and care every step of the way. PS: Everyone should get their dogs id'ed. more

The best 6/28/2011

This is the best veterinary clinic I have visited. This is now where I will take my dog from now on. Dr. Weaver is awesome, she takes that time to look at your pet and is spot on with her diagnosis. If you have the option, take a close look at this clinic, you will not be disappointed. Also, this place is cheaper than a lot of other clinics and they are open 7 days a week. Again, many props to Dr. Weaver, she was fantastic! more

Good Vet Kennel 6/27/2011

Good vet and Kennel! We have a very difficult bulldog to say the least, and they are always patient when dealing with him. The staff and doctors always do a great job with gaining our dog's trust before treating him, or taking them into their kennel. We've had a few kennels turn us away because out dog is intimidating, but Diablo has always accepted him for boarding and has never had any issues with being able to control him. more

Very Happy 6/23/2011

I have been very happy with this vet center and their flexibility. I have a pit bull dog and unlike most places they aren't afraid of her which is a good start. The care she has gotten there has been fair and I feel she has been treated well while she is there. Prices seem reasonable though they aren't going to cut you any breaks because they love animals. The facility is very nice and they have all of the most modern equipment so if your animal had some strange disease they should be able to handle it all in house. My dog had a major (and very expensive) leg surgery here and I believe they messed up in some way when they did it prolonging her recovery. But charged me the extra money to re X-ray to find they had possibly made a mistake and it wasn't my after care. The right thing would be to admit the mistake or at least throw in the x-ray or pills she needed due to knicking the joint during her $5k surgery. But that is the surgeon partially. As for flexibility it is tough for me to get out of work and at times I have had 2 jobs when she was going there regularly. I could drop off at 7am and they would keep her all the way until midnight without any problem. more

Over the top 6/20/2011

I have been impressed with your clinic-but am over the top now! You have me more detailed info on my cat than any Doctors have given to me about me!! more

I cant imaigine a better veterinary center 6/13/2011

We love Dr. Weaver she is always our doctor of choice. Like I said in my previous review she has helped us out a lot. Recently I began fostering a pit bull from a rescue group in Vallejo, I noticed that she had blood spotting in her urine and took her in, Dr. Weaver was great as always. She got antibiotics and a ultrasound. We were a little concerned about the pricing because we're on a tight budget. When I went to check out we were told that the visit was complimentary. That was a great surprise, Dr. Weaver is one of those people you can tell right away she is there for the animals and that her passion is to help them out. I will continue to bring all my dogs here, I can't imagine a better veterinary center. more

Fantastic Facility 6/10/2011

The facility is fantastic and the vets are top notch. This is easily the best vet center in the east bay. There are a lot of vets, including a number of specialists, and the equipment is state of the art. I had a dog at another vet that casually said that he might have a very serious condition. I took him to Bishop Ranch where they brought a specialist down from Davis to spend a long time going over my dog. In the end, he was fine and the first vet was wrong. It happens, but it was very expensive to check up on and if the first vet hadnt been so convinced of his (non-existent) condition, we wouldnt have pushed so hard to get him checked out like this. It was worth it, but still. If any other vet had told me that the first vet was wrong, I wouldnt have been 100% confident, but I trust the vets here more than I trust most MDs. Its not cheap, but for the best care and peace of mind, this is the only place to bring your pet. Disclaimer: I have been friends with two of the owners for many years, one all the way back to when we were in college together. Nevertheless, I think this is a pretty objective opinion. If anything, because Ive known them so long, I can attest to their trustworthiness. more
