Good vet and Kennel! We have a very difficult bulldog to say the least, and they are always patient when dealing with him. The staff and doctors always do a great job with gaining our dog's trust before treating him, or taking them into their kennel. We've had a few kennels turn us away because out dog is intimidating, but Diablo has always accepted him for boarding and has never had any issues with being able to control him. more

I have been very happy with this vet center and their flexibility. I have a pit bull dog and unlike most places they aren't afraid of her which is a good start. The care she has gotten there has been fair and I feel she has been treated well while she is there. Prices seem reasonable though they aren't going to cut you any breaks because they love animals. The facility is very nice and they have all of the most modern equipment so if your animal had some strange disease they should be able to handle it all in house. My dog had a major (and very expensive) leg surgery here and I believe they messed up in some way when they did it prolonging her recovery. But charged me the extra money to re X-ray to find they had possibly made a mistake and it wasn't my after care. The right thing would be to admit the mistake or at least throw in the x-ray or pills she needed due to knicking the joint during her $5k surgery. But that is the surgeon partially. As for flexibility it is tough for me to get out of work and at times I have had 2 jobs when she was going there regularly. I could drop off at 7am and they would keep her all the way until midnight without any problem. more

Open 7 days a week and evenings. Bonus! The staff is always friendly even when there's a line forming - they always take the time to greet each human and their furry and/or feathered companion and the veterinarians answer any and all questions. Miguel in the grooming department (I think he IS the grooming department) is always friendly and my dog always comes home cleaner than I can ever imagine not to mention smelling tons better (too bad it doesn't last long)! I have so much confidence with this facility that it does not matter whether or not my dog sees the same veterinarian each time. I believe we've seen three or four and each of them have been just as friendly and knowledgeable as the next. Did I mention they are open days a week and have a full pet depot adjacent to the vet?? more

The best veterinary hospital I've utilized--bar none. This place is always jam packed, but you certainly understand why when your best buddy gets sick. The docs are top notch, the techs are caring and the staff is knowledgeable and helpful. I find the prices in line with other such establishments, even though the care is so much better. For your convenience, there is a pet supply store next door. If you need to buy prescription food for Fido or Fluffy, they have it in stock and you don't need the scrip to get it. more

The facility is fantastic and the vets are top notch. This is easily the best vet center in the east bay. There are a lot of vets, including a number of specialists, and the equipment is state of the art. I had a dog at another vet that casually said that he might have a very serious condition. I took him to Bishop Ranch where they brought a specialist down from Davis to spend a long time going over my dog. In the end, he was fine and the first vet was wrong. It happens, but it was very expensive to check up on and if the first vet hadnt been so convinced of his (non-existent) condition, we wouldnt have pushed so hard to get him checked out like this. It was worth it, but still. If any other vet had told me that the first vet was wrong, I wouldnt have been 100% confident, but I trust the vets here more than I trust most MDs. Its not cheap, but for the best care and peace of mind, this is the only place to bring your pet. Disclaimer: I have been friends with two of the owners for many years, one all the way back to when we were in college together. Nevertheless, I think this is a pretty objective opinion. If anything, because Ive known them so long, I can attest to their trustworthiness. more

This is the best veterinary clinic I have visited. This is now where I will take my dog from now on. Dr. Weaver is awesome, she takes that time to look at your pet and is spot on with her diagnosis. If you have the option, take a close look at this clinic, you will not be disappointed. Also, this place is cheaper than a lot of other clinics and they are open 7 days a week. Again, many props to Dr. Weaver, she was fantastic! more

Well, I have to agree with all the great reviews. My cat hot in a fight overnight, got a nasty wound, and needed attention. Called as a new patient at 7:30 am, got an appointment for 8:00 am, and Dr. Petersen was fabulous! We were out the door by 8:45. The price for the office visit had worried me but it was reasonable, even by my country hayseed standards. The prescription was expensive, though. What's not to love? Fast, cheap, state of the art facility, great Dr., on- time. WOW. Go there. They even called the next day to see how my Mango was getting on. more

We've been coming to Bishop Ranch for several years with our sweet ratties and now our dog (also sweet, but still with us). The facility is wonderful, with someone there 24/7, and prices have been reasonable, though I admit we haven't had any surgeries done on the critters. Every doctor we've seen has been very friendly and knows their stuff, as well as extraordinarily compassionate (when the ratties died). We're moving to Sunnyvale, and this review was prompted by my quick search for a vet there... I think we will find an emergency clinic near the new place, but continue to make the drive to Bishop Ranch whenever we can. more

We love Dr. Weaver she is always our doctor of choice. Like I said in my previous review she has helped us out a lot. Recently I began fostering a pit bull from a rescue group in Vallejo, I noticed that she had blood spotting in her urine and took her in, Dr. Weaver was great as always. She got antibiotics and a ultrasound. We were a little concerned about the pricing because we're on a tight budget. When I went to check out we were told that the visit was complimentary. That was a great surprise, Dr. Weaver is one of those people you can tell right away she is there for the animals and that her passion is to help them out. I will continue to bring all my dogs here, I can't imagine a better veterinary center. more

The staff who handle the phones and computers answered quickly, followed-up on my requests and when I needed to call for follow-up questions, picked up at 7:45am and instructed me on how to contact the doctor for a prescription! Everything works really well and is very clear – even the doctor’s voice mail. more

So long as I remain in California - - I will travel hours upon hours to get to Bishop Ranch. There is no veterinary center that compares. NONE. Alright, so there might be some sole practitioners out there who are just as good or worthy, but there is no LARGE PRACTICE out there that can compare to Bishop Ranch. Dr. Cain here is amazing. The staff - - equally TERRIFIC. You walk in and without fail, someone will greet you by name, ask how the dog from the last appointment is doing, ask about whatever you talked about last time... okay, so maybe I spent a little too much time there, but what I'm saying is that they are super-friendly. Hours - - SPECTACULAR. I mean, they open until midnight on weeknights - how can THAT be beat? Get off work, have dinner, watch a movie and THEN take your dog to the vet for vaccinations? HELLO... I can't tell you how many late-nights I have come to Bishop Ranch for whatever it was I needed.... Emergency services are also superb. I've unfortunately perused those too, with the doctors and staff being available 24/7, as needed. Technology - - incomparable, from ultrasound to every new therapy or treatment out there. Patronage.... anyone who has been to Bishop Ranch, stays at Bishop Ranch. I originally found this place by recommendation by the pickiest, most annoying and absolutely irritating woman I know who, I kid you not, thinks her dog is her husband... or at least lover. No joke. But - - given how she thinks of her dog, I figured it was worth a shot since I was SURE she would not take her dog anywhere but the best. I made an appointment, drove to the location on that date, and was impressed from start to finish, and have never looked back. COST: NOT CHEAP. I swear, I have singlehandedly paid for at least two of the doctors' kitchen remodels, if not paid off a kid or two's college education, haha. But it's worth every penny. EVERY PENNY. Since moving away from this area - it's now an hour from me, and I have had no choice but to utilize some of the local vets in my immediate area for more basic services, though I still go to Bishop Ranch for anything more complicated than a splinter or a basic vaccine for my dogs. However, I sigh each time I am at the veterinarian in my area.... and I sigh a lot because I'm there alot. There's no place like home.... There's no place like home............... more

I've been going to BRVC for the past year (ever since I got my puppy). I was sold on it after reading the reviews on Yelp and am still a satisfied customer a year later. Their customer service is great. The doctors and techs seem very knowledgeable, thorough and loving towards my puppy. After my puppy was neutered a day later he had a bit of skin irritation, I was able to go in around 7:30-8pm, and a tech looked at him and then the vet. They prescribed an antibiotic that quickly took care of the rash and called to follow-up and check on his status. They also called a couple times to just see how he was recovering from the surgery. They have a pet supply store next door which is convenient and carries Natural Choice dog food. They have one of those rewards programs (10 bags = 1 free bag). On a separate note, I was talking to a family friend who has lived in San Ramon for the past 30 years and has been taking her dogs to BRVC ever since they've existed. She's been very satisfied with them, and currently is working with them and a specialist on her dog's serious health issues. She highly recommends BRVC as well. more

I have going to BRV for 6 years now. Longer if you count my roommate's dog. Dr. Ikezawa, Dr. Delano, Dr. Dodd... all Great. Dr. Delano is the only vet/person I've ever met who could handle my very special and sometimes vicious calico kitty. Brock (my 3yr pit mix) just met Dr. Dodd for the first time and although I think he much preferred Dr. Ikezawa's watch.... (he's fascinated with trying to get that thing off her wrist)... Dr. Dodd was just as wonderful as Dr. Ikezawa and Delano. Sorry for the lack of reviews for the other Dr.s, but these three are the only ones we've met/seen... The office itself is great. There are sectioned off seating area to help with cat/dog privacy. The facility is very clean. The nurse staff are knowledgeable... But best of all... they are SMART. They really know their stuff when it comes to critters. Dr. Delano always has great advice on natural remedies / solutions I can use for Brock or Gia... and he is always up and up on the newest of the new cat & dog products available. BRV doesn't just spout knowledge though, they speak from experience. I even moved away from San Ramon to Castro Valley... they are still well worth the drive. .. and voted best of the bay.. what more could you ask!?! Love Love Love BVRC more
