Highly Recommend Birchwood! 1/26/2012

I've had the pleasure of living in Memphis, Nashville, and now Knoxville over the last several years, and I can say that Birchwood has been the best kennel that we have found in Tennessee! \r \r When we moved to Knoxville early last year, we needed a kennel for our Puggle. A friend highly recommended Birchwood to us, and now we would not think of taking our dog anywhere else. Rob (owner), Dave, and the rest of the staff there are top notch, and you can tell that they truly care about every one of their "guests." Our dog absolutely loves Birchwood and the staff, and this has been the only place we've found like that. \r \r On commenters that have left less than stellar reviews, I would say that Birchwood's pricing is extremely reasonable, and it has been very much in line with pricing policies (weekends/check-out times) that we have seen in our experiences across TN. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE THIS PLACE!!! 12/29/2011

Just picked up our dog at Birchwood Kennels this morning and there was a gentleman in the lobby discussing the fact that he was looking for a place to board his dog who had never been boarded before. When the conversation between the employee and the potential new client was over I asked the gentleman if I could put my 2 cents in and I told him about our experience. So, I thought I'd come home and write a review since I feel so strongly about this business! more

EXCELLENT EXPERIENCE OVER THE LAST 7 YEARS 12/25/2011

We have been boarding our dog Cody with Birchwood Kennels for the past seven years and have never had a negative experience with the owner or any of the employees. Also, the facility is clean and spotless. I have complete confidence when I leave my pet at Birchwood that he is going to receive the best care by a very caring and experienced staff. In addition, I get my dog groomed at Birchwood and give the groomer, Linda and the other staff, high marks as well. As far as their fees go, the rates are very competitive with other kennels in the area. They do have set hours for drop off and pickup and it is your responsibility for making sure you understand their fees and rules when you drop off your pet. more

He then quoted me a price more than 50% higher than the price I had been given over the phone (and twice the price of my usual kennel) . Watch out! Double $$ on Weekends. 8/14/2011

Beware of Birchwood Kennels' weekend prices! Although they advertise $25 a day, this isn't true for weekend pricing. On Saturday, we dropped our Weimaraner off at 10 am and picked him up the next day, on Sunday, during their only pickup time--4 pm - 5 pm. We expected to pay $25 dollars since our dog was only there one day, but were forced to pay $50 instead. I'll try to sum up their reasoning: At 12 noon, their clock resets and you must pay for another day, and since their *only* Sunday pickup time is after noon you are automatically charged for two days. - Great for the owner, but horrible for customers. There are so many other boarding options in Knoxville that you don't have to be tricked into paying twice the amount. I suggest you look for another, more reasonable, place to board your pet on the weekend. more

Birchwood is the Best! 11/29/2007

Birchwood Kennel is the cleanest, safest and most loving environment for my dogs! I had never kenneled my dogs until our house/dog sitter got married, went back to school and started to take care of her own family. I had showed and trained dogs for 30 years and I am very picky. I have no children and these are my kids. I drive from west Knoxville (30 mins) - past other good kennels, because I want my dogs at the best place they can be when they are not at home.\r \r What really clued me in on how my dogs are taken care of, was their reaction to seeing Kari (the manager) and Chastity on their next stay. The dogs were so excited to see them and my little one ran from one gal to the other!! And - I have one dog who never is happy to get out of the car at any other destination. He pops right out of the car when we arrive.\r \r I have always e-mailed to check on the dogs while we are gone and they have been happy to accomodate me. I know they have been concerned about other boarders not eating more

Birchwood Kennel in Powell is a caring, environment where my dogs are loved and provided for when I'm away. I've been doing business there for 10 years. I have 4 dogs, all of which have been boarded there at different times. I've never had a hint of a problem with the kennel or a worry about my dogs. \r \r I show dogs in conformation, obedience, agility, and tracking. I would not leave one of my pets with a kennel I did not trust and respect.\r \r Kari is an excellent kennel manager. I often call to ask how my dogs are getting along. She always takes the time to chat about my dogs as if they're the only ones boarding, when I know they have many others to watch over.\r \r We're fortunate to have such a wonderful business in Powell. Thank you, Birchwood, and keep up the great work you do for our community! My dogs love you!! more

Unprofessional business, unhappy customer 11/25/2007

Birchwood Kennels is absolutely an unacceptable place to leave your pets. I have a lot of experience boarding my dogs and I'm most displeased with this kennel. I experienced overly rude and unprofessional service (namely the Proprietor Kari Conner) that lied about the care of my pets. We brought in our own dog food, measured for the exact length of stay plus 1 extra feeding for ea. dog in case of delay so that I would be assured they were fed properly. When we picked them up, I was given back a container with the same amount of food I had left them with. When Kari was informed that they were not feed the correct food, she became argumentative and rude, insisting that she fed them herself (this was obviously untrue as I have 2 large dogs that consume 8 cups of food per day and the container I left them with was just big enough for their 7 day stay). I also paid to have both dogs groomed the day before I picked them up. I could tell they'd been bathed but one dog's nails had not been tri more

I cannot begin to express my gratitude for all of your attentive loving care for our four legged family members. Truly never ceases to amaze us that they actually know when they are headed to Camp Birchwood that they actually, KNOW. Great kennels! 11/4/2005

My dogs love going here! The staff know my dogs and take good care of them. There is playtime in a large fenced in area and grooming available also. I always feel comfofortable leaving my dogs here when I have to go away. more
