Editorial review from Citysearch 3/6/2013

Great Company. would use again. Office was very nice they gave me a time window when they would get to my house and they arrived about an hour into that window. they came in and looked at the leak i had. while one man was opening up the wall the other man went to get the material they needed. after they were done they vacumed the mess that they had made and temporary sealed the wall. gave me a bill right there. i thought it was a fair price for what they did. the men were in uniform and the truck was lettered so i knew who i was dealing with. all in all had a good experiance with this company. hopefully i wont need a plumber for awhile but if i do i would call Billharz again. price was around $500 for a leak in my bathroom wall. more

DO NOT USE Billharz Plumbing. If 12/7/2012

DO NOT USE Billharz Plumbing. If anything goes wrong, they will not stand by their work. I am a little surprised that after each horrible experience reported by someone on this page, there is a wonderful experience reported by someone else - I wonder if that is not Billharz themselves trying to patch the damage they done to others - such a horrible company, expensive and un reaches once they get the $$$. See my pictures attached to see what a horrible job they did in my house - there is a wall of cement on each side of the tub to ""reinforce"" the tub, but there is a hole on the floor. My story: I hired them to install my tub 3 years ago and today I had to remove it because of multiple cracks that developed on the bottom of the tub. When I took the tub out, I learned that the foundation of the tub ( the bed) contained many large holes, so when I stepped into the tub (to shower) on the exact hole, it cracked. I spoke with Billharz, and they said: 1. We do't care, it's been 3 years, 2. That's what I get for buying cheap stuff. 3. i should call the manufacturer and ask them to make stronger base for future tubs, 4. they will not come and see the issue because its 3-year old and i no longer have a contract with them - what contract, and why does that matter. Yes of course the tub was not expensive, but, they should have installed it with a strong foundation - right? Nevertheless, he charged me $4000 ($3969) for installing my tub, toilet, sink and weld two coper pipes. Now 3 years later, who gives a fly about tub floor collapsing! Who cares that he got paid $4000!!! Hey Henri, I worked hard for that money, and you should be shame of yourself doing shit-jobs while charging top money!!!! Please be carefull when selecting plumbers because they all claim to know until they get the money, then they run and hide behind their front desk assistants who confirm that they not in the office LOL. What an life to live!!! more

SO GLAD I TOOK A CHANCE 2/28/2011

what a wonderful company!!!! i was nervous calling them when i read some of the reviews but i am so glad i did. My boiler broke and was leaking water all over the floor on a sunday. the owner came out the same day and took a look at it a gave me a price and told me he could get it in the next day. i agreed and the next day they were at my house installing a new boiler by the time they left monday night i had heat. After the job was done i checked around with a couple of my friends and they had told me that the boiler i got was 3 to 4 hundred dollars cheaper then the boiler that they had put in by anouther plumber. i thought i would pay more because they came so fast but it turns out that they came fast and saved me a lot of money. Mr Billharz was such a nice man he really did a nice job and made me feel better. Thanks for helping me. more

Bizzare plumbing company 1/6/2011

Was looking to replace a boiler, water heater, and gas clothes dryer, the owner came over promptly, was very professional, and friendly. He said it would be a little tight fitting everything in the space available but to give him a few days and he would mail me a detailed estimate. I waited, and waited and waited! I called the company back over six times asking for an estimate and requested the owners to call me back. I never heard from him again and I was very suprised because our meeting was very positive and he was even going to give me an additional estimate for a duckless A//C system. Never got that either. All in all it worked out well got a great proce and a very professional plumber at another local business in Middle Village. If you want to waste your time and have a very pleasant conversation with the owner of the company but get nothing done Billharz is the way to go. If it's plumbing you need, go elsewhere. Although, I would still have a beer w/him. more

Completely useless 11/11/2010

Had a leak in our kitchen sink. Called these people on a neighbors suggestion. They came around and said the faucet needed replacing, and that they'd call when the part we needed was in. more

Know their stuff 10/27/2010

I had a heating problem and one of the National Grid's men said I needed a new boiler. He called someone and said they would call me back. I called Billharz and man from Billharz said I needed a new low water cut off but it was an unusual size. They had it and worked around my schedule to come back and put it in. They saved me a lot of money in fact thousands of dollars. I am new to Queens but they have been here a long time. My neighbor told me about them. The whole family is in the business and very nice and friendly. more

If you like being overcharged 10/25/2009

Very consumer unfriendly. After the work is done, they exaggerate how long they have worked, overcharging you. In addition (and after the fact), they tell you that they bill by the half hour (if the work goes 5 mins. beyond an hour, you pay for the extra 30 mins). No response to complaint about overcharging. Very dissatisfied. They used to have a good reputation in the neighborhood, but no more. Pros: none Cons: they overcharge you more

Helpful 7/23/2009

My shower body started leaking. Billharz sent a very nice tech that was willing to try and find the parts. They took down information about my shower. It is old about 15 years & I did not what to break open my tile wall to change it. The office called a day latter giving me prices for the new stems, etc. needed to stop the handles, shower head and tub spout from leaking. They explained that I would only have one comeback and that they thought it would be better to change the whole thing because when you change only one part of an old fixture something else could break and that they would not warranty it. I was fine with that becasue they were doing what I wanted. I had some other company come in and all they wanted to do was break open walls and would not listen to me. Pros: phone call answered, quick response, worth cost. Cons: A little expensive but what isn't now a days more

First time Homebuyer 7/16/2009

I am a new homeowner and i had a leak in my house. I called them up and they where able to get to me the same day. the man that came was nice and got right to work as he was working we were talking and i mentioned to him that i was a new homeowner he told me that he would be happy to go through my house with me and point out any problem areas. as we went through the house he pointed out a couple of things and he told me what it would cost to fix he also told me which items he said i could take care of he then wrote it all out and told me if i every needed more help i should just call the office and they would help me. I thought their prices were fair but i really liked the fact that he was honest with me and did not try to sell me something i didnt need. fixing the leak, walking through my house writing up his ticket and helping me feel happy that i found a plumber i could trust. i will tell my neighbor who recomended him to me that i am very thankfull Pros: they were very helpful and did not try to hard sell me Cons: none they were great more

The Wrong People 7/14/2009

Very bad experience. This company will show up for a job and claim that they don't have the right part and then demand payment for essentially nothing. In my situation, the part was a very common one whose description I had provided them prior to their arrival. Basically they drove here, told me they didn't have the part and then asked for $150 for doing zero work whatsoever. They weren't ready to work but still charged me for work, leaving me to seriously doubt the ethics of this business and their service to future customers. Go somewhere else that doesn't send out 'empty' trucks. Pros: Zero Cons: They're trouble more
