Wonderful studio, amazing teachers 10/5/2011

Vancouver Bikram yoga is a fantastic place to begin learning Bikram yoga or continue to build your practice. The instructors are top notch and truly aspire to encourage, inspire and motivate their students wherever they are in their practice. The studio is always clean and profession. I have found a wonderful community of friends and consider VBY to be my home away from home. Bikram yoga will change your life! more

A wonderful community 10/5/2011

I found Vancouver Bikram Yoga through a livingsocial deal, 20 visits for $35. I used those classes up in 6 weeks and loved it SO MUCH that I signed up for the unlimited monthly auto-pay plan. The heat does not bother me, however sometimes it can be a challenging distraction. The detoxifying effects of this 26-posture series are powerful. I am experiencing many benefits from keeping a regular yoga practice. Improved mental focus and clarity, better self-esteem, increased flexibility and balance, increased strength and muscle definition, and increased endurance. Oh, and lets not forget the increased lung capacity that has helped to improve my performance in all other aspects of my life. I have found all of the staff to be very knowledgeable and more than happy to talk with me and answer questions. I feel that there is a strong sense of community there. Many of my fellow yogis and yoginis have reached out to make me feel right at home. This type of yoga is for everyone! Come prepared to class! Hydrate for a couple days before you start, would be my best advice. Don't show up with a belly full of water, it will make you feel yucky. I prefer the early classes, when I am fresh and uncaffinated. Wear light-weight clothing made from wicking material, bring a mat and large towel, a bottle of nice cold water, and of course; AN OPEN MIND! There are many different instructors, all of whom are wonderful. Their styles range from gentle and calming, to more aggressive and challenging. It makes for a varied experience from class to class, which I enjoy. It's as challenging as I make it for myself. I would also like to add, this studio is very clean! The bathrooms and changing rooms are immaculate, the lobby is a nice place to recover and visit after class, and the hot room is also kept VERY clean. The mirrors are spotless and the carpet is kept very clean as well. more

GREAT INSTRUCTORS! 6/27/2011

I LOVE THIS PLACE! I had been commuting to Portland and practicing Bikram Yoga for over 5 years when I heard a Bikram Yoga studio was coming to Vancouver. I was VERY excited to say the least. The studio is gorgeous and very clean. The instructors are some of the best I have had, and there are so many of them I rarely get the same one two times in a row. If you are looking for a true Bikram Yoga experience visit this studio. You won't be disappointed! more

AMAZING STUDIO 6/24/2011

By now you all know that you will either LOVE or HATE bikram yoga. You know that it's hotter than hell in there and you will sweat your brains out. Yes, it's true that the instructors and everyone else wear tiny clothes, and that the instructor barks the directions from a podium. (that's the way it's suppossed to be) It is also true they ask you to stay in the room the best you can. Not to be mean, but for your own safety. I practiced at a studio once where a woman felt dizzy, walked out and hit her head and had to go to the emergency room! However it is not true they make you stay in the room. No there is not a lock on the door. I see people leave the room all the time. It's not true that they are unfriendly or unwilling to make special modifications or work with the individual. I recently had knee surgery, and they were more than willing to work with me. Another person in my class had back surgery, and they made special arrangements with her. All you have to do is go talk to the instructor. . Bikram is really amazing! It took me forever to get in the room, but once I started going it has done amazing things for me! Don't listen to the negative Nancy's below. Try it out for yourself, and not just once! Give it a good honest try! more

Poor Instructor 9/22/2010

It had been a while since I had takena Bikram class, so when the Groupon came out I decided itwas too good of a deal to pass up. 20 classes for 20 dollars. While I liked the space for the neat and clean feel as well as the adequately heated room, the instructor did little to impress. She ONLY spent time encouraging and repositioning people who had already been in her class. Those in the back row ( new students) got absolutely zero instruction on correcting poses or pushing harder. If you want someone to come back after 90 minutes of hell some encouragement is nice. more
