BUYER BEWARE! 8/31/2011

These guys have a lot of nice jewelry in the windows and will quote you competitive prices. They try really hard to meet your expectations but I experienced a lot of negatives working with the owner and their staff. First, please be aware that they are not open on the weekends and close at 6, so you have to go see them on your lunch break if you are working....Second, you have to go over exactly what you want and MAKE sure it is written down word for word on your purchase ticket or else they won't get it right. For example, they simply forgot to do my appraisal and I had to wait an additional 2 weeks. Lastly, they do not work well with platnuim or resizing rings very well. Again, they try hard to meet your expectations but you just find yourself having to come in multiple times with a look of disappointment on your face. I recommend using another establishment. more

The only jeweler I'll ever trust. 12/7/2010

I too paid for appraisals on many items (more than 10) at BHJ over the past couple of years and never had not one single issue. I have also gotten pearls restrung (a set of very delicate 1950's Mikimotos that they treated extremely well), rings resized (my engagement ring, an antique diamond ring) and a number of pieces of jewelry cleaned.. all without flaw or issue. Maybe the last person who posted is confused- there is a big difference in values for sale and for insurance- maybe you got one when you really needed the other? Also, I don't see how they could possibly be cheating you- you said in your previous statement that you went to a ""gold broker"" to sell your jewelry... not BHJ... so to cheat you would imply that they would get some sort of advantage by giving you an inflated statement. It wasn't like you were trying to sell to THEM then they low-balled you. They actually did you a favor (although possibly erroneously). more
