I find them very receptive to my father's needs 8/2/2012

My father is in the memory unit at Bethesda Gardens. I believe that they are always willing to help in any way they can to make my father's experience better. He is always comfortable and he enjoys the atmosphere there. I appreciate that they maintain great communication with me. The administration and the medical director are always available, willing to listen, and have always been open to any suggestions I may have for my dad's comfort level. I would highly recommend Bethesda Gardens to anyone. more

Best there is! 7/3/2012

My mother has Alzheimer's, and Bethesda Gardens Assisted Living - Terre Haute came recommended to me by a friend from high school. My first impression of Bethesda Gardens was that this was the place. I don't have enough good to say about them! The food is good, the care is good, the facilities are clean. If we ask them to do anything, they will do it no questions asked. Bethesda Gardens Assisted Living is the best there is! more

Met all our needs. 6/4/2012

My mother and stepfather started living in Bethesda Gardens of Terre Haute a year ago in January. My stepfather passed away last April, but my mother lives there now. I'm in California and they're in Indiana, so they always called me when they're ill. They're able to get them to the hospital and able to get them to the doctors when they need to go. As far as I know, they met all our needs in that way. I don't have any complaints. They're fine with me. more

Always willing to help you!! 5/2/2012

All the staff at Bethesda Gardens Assisted Living - Terre Haute are very courteous, in a good mood, and willing to help you. They go out of their way to help you when you need it. We went to a lot of assisted living facilities and walked into Bethesda Gardens. We liked their philosophy, that it was just one floor with no elevators, and that it was smaller than the other ones. It was easier to get around. more

We are confident that our parents are in a safe and comfortable place. 4/3/2012

My parents have been living at Bethesda Gardens Assisted Living - Terre Haute for a couple of years now. My sister and I are very satisfied that they are happy living there. I am very impressed with the appearance of the place. Physically, the place is well-maintained and very comfortable for the residents. It is a lovely and warm environment. My parents are very comfortable there. We are satisfied that they are well-cared for, if there's ever an emergency there are people to help out right then, because we are an hour away. There have only been a couple of employees I've had problems with, and one of them is no longer there. Everyone else is very caring and kind, and I like them as people. I appreciate that the care they give my parents is really outstanding. The staff is willing to take suggestions and incorporate them into what they offer. Kathy Macky does a great job running things there. I also think that Daphne does a wonderful job with the resources they have. I think they should try to pay their employees more if they can to keep the really good people there. more

Incredibly supportive, communicative staff 3/19/2012

Bethesda Gardens Assisted Living really works with the individuals. When my mom is happy, everyone is happy so we have continued her stay at Bethesda. The willingness of their staff to work with people is incredible. My mother had an incident where she was very ill and transported to the hospital, and Bethesda kept me very well updated about what was going on. My mom nearly died in the hospital, but in returning to Bethesda they worked with her through memory spells and her recovery. She has been living there 11 months now and we are very happy and comfortable with her there. Even for difficult people going through trials and tribulation or trauma, the staff is very responsive and helpful. more

Bethesda Gardens is a very caring and loving place. 10/3/2011

Bethesda Gardens Assisted Living provides excellent care to my father, who has Alzheimer's. What I like is that they take care of 300 different people, and then you add onto that all of their concerned family members and they take care of us too. If I ever have any questions, I know I can call them up and they'll take the time to address my concerns or answer my questions. My sister calls them all the time with questions about this or that, and they always have time for her, and are very patient and take the time to listen and talk to her. They are professional and friendly. They also take them to their doctors. Also, I think the rates for what they do there and provide for their clients, is extremely reasonable. I know firsthand how difficult it can be to care for someone with Alzheimer's, we tried to take care of dad before we moved him to Bethesda Gardens. He's getting great care there, they wake him up and turn on his shower for him in the morning. I know he's clean, he always smells good and he eats well too. This is a very caring and loving place. My mother went in there dragging her heels, but now she loves it there. 9/12/2011

I think the staff and the people at Bethesda Gardens are really tremendous. They are doing the best they can do, but on most occasions I feel like they are short staffed. That doesn't mean they're not bending over backwards for their clients though, because they are. My mother was living with us for 4 months, and it was the longest 4 months ever. We're so happy she is happy at Bethesda Gardens. She went in there dragging her heels, and now she loves it there. She is one of their best promoters now. She was in a commercial of theirs, and recruited 3 or 4 of her friends as phone operators and they call themselves The Bingo Babes. more

We don't worry as much knowing our father is in good hands at Bethesda Gardens. 9/1/2011

Currently, my father is a resident at Bethesda Gardens Assisted Living. My sister and I filed for co-guardianship over him and took him out of the nursing home he was in and moved him to Bethesda. He had been diagnosed with Alzheimer's and Parkinson's and was having a lot of difficulty at the nursing home he was in. One of my stipulations of being a co-guardian was that he needed to be moved to a better assisted living place. Everyone agreed and we found Bethesda after a lot of searching. At first, my father wasn't very happy with the move, but even after two weeks he was 100 percent better! He really started to come out of his shell. He has gotten to know other people and the staff is beyond excellent with him. He has Crone's Disease too, and sometimes there are accidents that need to be cleaned up, and the staff is quick and don't hesitate to take care of things like that. They are so professional and very patient with him. He really likes living there now! My sister and I really feel like we did a good thing by moving him there. He's happy now. They take great care of him there. They play games and do therapy for their residents. Our father really likes the therapy sessions. They also take them on different outings, like out to lunch and to their doctor appointments, which is great for us since we both work full-time jobs. We go there every Sunday to have dinner with him and to prepare his weekly medications for him, and it's great to see that he is thriving. With him there, I don't have to worry. We've recommended Bethesda Gardens to many people. This would be the place of my choice if I were in his shoes. LeAnn Moore more

Pretty satisfied with the care. 8/29/2011

My mom has been at Bethesda Gardens for a few years. I'd say, there again, going on a scale of 1 to 5, it would be hard to give it a 5, as there is no place really that can get a perfect score. All in all, my family has been pretty satisfied with the care mom has received. S. Draper more

They promote living independently without living independently. 8/24/2011

I recommend Bethesda Gardens all the time. My mother is the resident there, and I'm the caregiver. Bethesda Gardens supports the idea of living independently without living independently. Nobody invades her privacy, and the support they off does not focus on disabilities but instead is all about what abilities she does have. For example, it is very difficult for her to walk on carpet, so rather than keep her out of the carpeted activity room they put a chair in there that is her own chair. They don't make a big deal about it, they just make particular, subtle adjustments so that nothing is threatening or embarrassing. My mother, Effie Nash, is 89 years old now. She lived through the depression, and her generation is a very proud generation that likes to take care of itself no matter what. Bethesda Gardens is very accommodating to that generation. They provide the experience of being able to live independently while not living independently. There is a lot of security for them, as well as for the family, in knowing that they have a safe environment where again they can live independently without living independently. I think it's wonderful that my mother was able to make the decision to choose Bethesda Gardens. We didn't have to make the decision for her, she knew it was time, and she tells everybody she knows that she is happy. She's got one of those personalities that is very inviting. When we were growing up, her house is where everybody came, and now at Bethesda Gardens, everybody comes to her there too, which is very rewarding for her, and also very rewarding for me. I live 2 hours away, and while I can be there in 2 hours, I don't have to worry about her feeling like there is no family around, as she has some of her best friends and family right there. Very helpful. 8/22/2011

My brother-in-law lives at Bethesda Gardens. I'm' not there all the time, but when I have been there they have been most helpful. They try to go out of their war to make things comfortable, and for people that need that kind of service it would be an excellent place to go. The people in the office, every time I go talk to them and explain things to them they will take care of it. For example, my brother-in-law mentioned wanting exercise equipment, so they got some, and put a TV in there too. For another gentleman they got a pool table. If somebody mentions something, if they can get it, and it's feasible, they're going to try. For the service they offer for people who need it, Bethesda Gardens is an excellent place for them to go. The family doesn't have to worry either, as someone is there to call 911 or something like that. I will say that it is very expensive, and a lot of families can't afford it, but they can help with the paperwork and the VA, as well as who else to call to get it accomplished and make is so much easier. They are very helpful, and if I had to go there I would. Kay Meadlo more

An experience that whole family has been pleased with! 8/18/2011

We were looking for assisted living for my aunt, especially a place that had structured activities and a nice setting. My aunt had beginning dementia and memory loss so we wanted a place that could transition for that. Our aunt moved into Bethesda Gardens Assisted Living in December of 2010 and we had found out about them about four months prior. We saw an advertisement on TV and we requested info. We liked how it was close to family so in terms of location, it was a good choice for us. Also, we just liked the way it was laid out, and decorated. The first staff member we contacted gave us an overview of what we would expect and what kind of services they had. I think potential clients would be very happy at Bethesda Gardens Assisted Living. It would certainly meet or exceed their expectations. The place is secure and the food is very good. Bethesda Gardens Assisted Living is an upbeat and positive place. more
