I recently shopped at Berta Sawyer for a dress for my daughter’s Bat Mitzvah. I always have a difficult time finding dresses that I like and that fit me well. Not only did I find a party dress there, but I also bought two others, for Friday and Saturday services. Jan was patient, caring and wonderful and she truly went out of her way to make sure that I not only found the perfect dress, but that it fit me perfectly as well. I can’t thank Jan enough, as well as all of the lovely ladies and seamstresses who work at Berta Sawyer, for all that they did to help make my daughter’s day beautiful. I felt like I was shopping with my friends, who gave me truthful opinions and wonderful advice. I truly felt gorgeous on that special day. I can’t imagine shopping anywhere else for a party dress! more

I went to Berta Sawyer to get a gown for my son's upcoming wedding! Jan and her staff couldn't have been more accomodating to me and found me the most BEAUTIFUL gown that made me fill like I was on the red carpet at the Academy Awards. It is going to be so magnificent and I have Jan and Michelle to thank for that! This is not the 1st dress or gown I have bought there and I will be back again and again because it is so worth the visit! more

My 85 year old mother needed a formal outfit for her grandson's Bar Mitzvah. Jan took perfect measurements for a knit suit that looked like a St. John but cost much less! Outstanding service! We can't thank you enough. . Ellen Silow more

Good: My sister-in-law was totally ripped off at this store with a custom order dress which did not fit her when it arrived. Alterations were subpar. Owner offered a small gift card, but she would not refund my sister-in-law's money. My sister-in-law was stuck with a dress she could not wear to the tune of $500.00. The owner is unethical and treated my sister-in-law very badly and with a total lack of respect. There's nothing to like about this store.. Bad: There was nothing to like about this store.. Improvements: An improved store policy regarding refunds/returns. A seamstress who is talented in working with expensive garments.. Other: Go to a high-end department store to buy a special occasion dress. You will be treated fairly and they have fair return policies especially if their alteration person ruins a dress.. more

they take the time to help whether you buy a average price dress or a designer. they try to make you happy more

I've never been in a store that pays such attention to details and service. Prices are great considering the area the store is in. And the quality Is like neiman Marcus without the snobby attitude. This is a must for any CLASSY women in the Philadelphia area. more

Good: The service, selection, sales associates and the alteration staff always go above and beyond. I am never at a loss to find something. I love the fact that I am taken care of and waited on. A great place to shop for everything from jeans to evening gowns. I am so glad I found this place!. more

Great place if you want to be talked down to and humiliated. Staff person tried to be subtle but what's clear is these folks are only nice to people they know will spend money, or, attend services at the same religious facility. more

If you love clothing and are tired of the department stores and those shops at the mall you may want to check out Berta Sawyer. This shop in Jenkintown has some of the most darling womens apparel around. Most, if not all, of the items that they sell is higher end and the prices are there to prove that. They carry clothing for all occasions, including work , socializing and formal events. The ladies that work there are very professional and helpful. They also appreciate you as a customer. I personally like the professional wear that I purchased, and I often get great compliments on the clothes. more
