Benihana

We had not been to a Benihana's for years and decided to go for my Birthday last night. When we were seated our drink orders were taken and the girl disappeared for 10 minutes. When she came back the drinks were so small and watered down it was ridiculous. She asked if we were ready to order and we asked if we could order a Sushi appetizer first. I ordered 3 pieces of Albacore Sushi and when she returned there was only 2 pieces on my plate. I asked her if she wrote down 2 or 3 pieces and she informed me that she had written down 3. I told her it was fine but make sure to take the 3rd piece off of our bill.\r When the chef came out he didn't make eye contact with any of us at the table, mumbled a few words I think about the sauces he was putting in the bowls. He started flipping his spatula around in an attempt to entertain us but kept dropping in on the grill. That was all the entertainment he could muster up and never said a word to any of us the whole time he was cooking. The soup was water with a few veggies in it, the once wonderful Ginger Salad Dressing was tasteless as was my lobster. He made the Onion Tower but never served the onions to any of us. He started cleaning the grill with the onions still on it so I asked him if we were going to get any of them before his dirty rag touched them and he just looked at me, cut them up and put them on our plates when we were already done eating.\r Our bill came to $245 which would have been fine if they would have been the Benihana of the old days but not this. Great place! They cook right in front of you and kids would love it! The waitress was friendly and the chef that cooked in front of us did all kinds of tricks and was also friendly. You sit next to other people unless you have a party that fills up the whole table. The prices are a tad bit high when it comes to the total but overall I love this place! The shrimp is really great and the sushi was wonderful. The atmosphere is fine and I wouldn't worry about the restaurant. Try it you'll love it! \r I have been to this restaurant over a dozen times in the last 4 years; I won?t be going back. Reopening last fall after a year long remodel the outcome was minor to the original layout; in my opinion. Today three of us dined for lunch. We sent our plates back to be cleaned twice; both times showing the busboy the dirty napkin smeared with plate grease (all 3) both times. The service was just ok. We had shrimp, filet mignon & chicken and the bright spot was the food it tasted very good although the sauces tasted bland. The completely lackluster presentation by the japanese (mexican) cooking ?artist? was a real letdown! No shrimp toss, no onion volcano ? no nothing! Benihana is a place that you can go and expect to get FILLED UP on amazing food! You get exactly what you want, and how you want it cooked. Plus, the entertainment of the chefs is delightful, too!
