Benchmark Homes

I was told to write a review for this builder. I know who ""Honest T"" is...In fact I have met him and his wife. Regarding their review and what I have found with Benchmark Homes. I love this builder. We talked with many builders in the area and constantly came back to them. I think people need to say positive things about others because negative comments say more about the person saying the negative comments than those they are saying negative things about. Benchmark Homes currently has an A+ rating with the BBB. Regarding Liens, everyone I talked to about building said their builder they built with had liens. Liens are rather common with construction. Many times the contractor doing work for the builder will ""pre-lien"" the property. Even before the builder gets the final invoice. Anyway, stucco, sheetrock, and really any man-made product will be imperfect. Any home takes upkeep and care. Homes are built by imperfect people. Upgrades aren't free and my wife and I knew that when we went to build. Anyway, as we looked around at other builders Benchmark gave us the best value and the Best Bang for Our Buck! I don't want to dwell on all the negative, so let me just say that I would again built with Benchmark in a heartbeat as will all those that I know. They are the best...and I would know...cause I've looked at all the other builders in the area and we went with them. Some people you just can't please. I know this because I have worked in the service industry and experienced it first hand. However, most people turn out pleased and totally happy. Be friends with those that are positive! more

I have built with them once in Northern Utah. I have actually had multiple relatives and friends build with them as well. We looked at multiple builders in the area and there was only one other builder that came close to what they offered as standards and quality. There of course are always going to be those you just can't please and demand the world at others expense and will do anything to voice their frustration. I will tell anyone that comes up to me that Benchmark Homes is in a very strong financial situation and holds to their word. I have multiple sources to back me up. I loved their new design center and the fact they offer the Best Bang for Your Buck. Don't let one person and their ""hate"" sway you into thinking otherwise. Also, please keep in mind that their is another construction company in Salt Lake City that has a similar name, but no affiliation with the Benchmark Homes I am talking about. Go Benchmark! You are doing great! more

Read reviews before signing with them. Did not realize most good ones were a couple of years old. They may have once been a great builder, but I think they are bottom of the barrel. The price and people seemed really great until we signed. Then it was ""well if you still want that carpet its now an upgrade"". Felt like they did that with everything that we asked to have included. When I asked why they didn't tell me that up front. I got "" We reserve the right to change all that stuff"". I now have warranty issues (not real hopeful that they will ever get fixed) and got a notice that there is a lien on my house from an unpaid sub. I finally looked at there better business bureau rating, wish I would have done that first. I talked to some of the subs when I went to check on my house. Most seemed like really great small businesses. I think its just the people running the show have poor integrity. more

I love our home! This is the 3rd time we have built with Benchmark. The home was completed very nicely and when people come over to the house they just love it! The neat thing about the building process was that we knew right up front what the cost would be and how the home would be built. We has a preconstruction meeting and during the meeting we went over all the costs and the featrures. It was really nice because at the meeting everyone was on the same page. The home went up rather quickly and the construction foreman (dean) was great. Even after we moved in the home has a few things that needed fixing. The foreman was quick to respond and fix the problems. We have now been living ino our home for some time and there hasn't been anything wrong. We got into the home knowing that builders were struggling, but I knew that Benchmark would do all they could to help us. I give my recommendation to others that the Benchmark Homes experience is well worth it. They don't cut the corners and hide costs that so many other builiders cut and hide. We just moved into a new benchmark homes in Clinton. The home has been great. Benchmark worked well with us despite having some ""Lending"" frustrations. This however wasn't Benchmarks fault. The home is my wifes favorite. We have had little problems and the little things that came up was address very quickly and resolved. Benchmark treated us with great respect and care. I recommend this builder. Pros: Great Customer Service Cons: Not any that come to mind more

Do not deal with this builder!!! They do not honor their warrantees, and their customer service stinks! Cons: Poor customer service, empty promises, lack of integrity, and non-commitment to honor select warrantees more

Benchmark Homes has been great to work with. I have now lived in my home for more than a year and haven't had any problems with the home. One interesting thing I found with benchmark homes is that they are always trying to improve. They have a great home warranty and excellent value. They seem to be a solid company that holds true to what many people have said to me...that ""benchmark homes builds a great home."" If I were to build agian I would most definately build with Benchmark Homes. I only wish they were in more locations. I have heard they are expanding and continuing to build a great home. Benchmark Homes surpassed my expectations when they built my home. They were very informative, and professional. When I was shopping around for builders, other builders just handed me price sheets, and addresses where I could see what they built, they didn't give me very much attention. Benchmark sat down with us and spent two hours explaining our options we had with their various models and locations. We were very impressed. Its not often you get that kind of one on one service anymore. After we signed the paperwork, and got started, I was worried that my house wouldn't be done on time. We had sold our old house and were living with my wife's parents. And we were anxious to move, but they actually finished our house ahead of schedule. I've heard all kinds of horror stories about building a home, and was told to watch out for this, and be careful of that, and I was preparing for the worst, but I was plesantly surprised with the staff and the whole experience overall. The Benchmark sales agent kept me informed on a regular basis about the progress of ourhouse, and the head of construction was great to work with. My wife and I have been very happy with our new home, and would highly recommend to everyone Benchmark Homes. Pros: Affordable, excellent quality more

We purchased a home from them 2 years ago. We were seeking a lot, but after talking to over 20 realtors and contractors we contacted Benchmark. They sold us a lot. When we changed our minds to buying a home they bought the lot back with no penalties. Of course we have had minor problems with our home, but the Quality Assurance Rep took care of us in a very timely manner. They even helped us with a problem after the manufacturer's warranty expired! The painter, alarm installer,A/C repairman, and plasterer, all of whom took care of our problems, were very complimentary about working with Benchmark. If you have any questions, do as we did and talk to one of their agents. Pros: Quality, value, customer care more

I was surprised to find out that when I refinanced my home, the appraisal on the property jumped up considerably when I mentioned who the builder was. He mentioned the quality of product and name gives them an advantage over the market. more
