Beluga Japanese

Beluga is quickly becoming a favorite here with Dell employees. It is still considered a diamond in the rough as it gains popularity. It occupies the same building which has had 2 or 3 restaurants go under. But despite the bad luck with previous tenets I believe this one is a winner. The sushi is top notch and the lunch specials can not be beat (2 for 1, free saki or beer, dell employees get an additional 10% off.) Salmon, Super White Tuna, and Albacore Tuna sushi/sashimi simply melt in your mouth. Where the Cherry and Tear Drop rolls are a great end to a meal. They have items off the normal menu such as a dessert made with a purple Japanese sweet potato which you can request. Place deserves the time to check out for yourself. This is a good sushi joint and it is now cool to see that you don't have to drive 30 minutes tpo get good japanese. more

conveniently located right across the hwy from dell. this is my favorite lunch joint. i get seated right away and enjoy my 1/2 price sushi, complementary beer or sake, and my 10% dell employee discount 1-2 times a week during the lunch hour. my favorite waitress has convinced me to have the summer rolls. they are refreshing on a hot summers day, just as she tells me. service is important. lots of restaurants forget that during the busy lunch shift. this place doesnt. dee is a great sushi chef. shes fun and will keep you company while you eat. business could be better for them. hwy construction cant be helping business but im doing my part at work to get the word out about the great new sushi joint nearby. yeah, everything they say about this place is true. i would recommend this place to anyone. Appetizers: ""Ahi Tower"", ""Summer Rolls"", ""Crispy Spider""-- YOU WILL LOVE THEM! Their sushi/sashimi selection is fresh, sized just right for the perfect mouthful. I must recommend the swordfish toro to everyone! If you have not tasted the delights of toro, the ""fatty"" part of a lean cut of fish-- you have not lived! The tender morsel just MELTS in your mouth... They have tempura, kushiyaki (shish kabobs), combination platters, and some Korean BBQ dishes. My friends who are not into the treasures of the sea seem to enjoy those options. They have great Bento Box lunch specials, priced under $10! As a transplanted Californian, I've been looking for a Japanese restaurant serving the freshest sushi & sashimi. I found just such a place in Beluga. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. I was impressed because their head sushi chef, Nobo, made me a special hand-rolled sushi. I thought the sushis & sashimis were sized just right. The sushis were so good that my husband and I started going there regularly. I love their summer rolls, try it! Their rock crabs and soft-shelled crab appetizers are fantastic! If you don't mind the drive to Round Rock, we found Beluga better than most of the Austin sushi restaurants. more

Its hard to find a place quite like Beluga, I can walk in on any given night and be welcome by the staff and other customers who have also made Beluga ""their spot"". I love to try something new everytime, I have yet to be disappointed. The Sea bass, Filet minon, Rib eye, Tempura...I can go on and on. Yes, then their are the favorites like the Ahi Tower, Summer Rolls and the Chicken Meatballs, yes chicken meatballs...they are so creative! I truely recommend you go and try Beluga if you haven't. For the person who wrote the last review, I really wish you would give Beluga a chance, there are so much you are missing out on! Now the weather is better...after work you can find me on their patio enjoying a glass of wine...eating some Beef Sashimi...with a smile on my face. What's not to love? I have eaten at The Beluga three times and have been very impressed with the service and the ambience created by the staff. Most of all has been the quality and the presentation of the food. The sushi is the best I have ever eaten, especially the spicy tuna and the soft-shelled crab and how beautifully presented. This certainly is a must restaurant for me and one that I will enjoy taking my clients for business lunches and dinners. more

Though just starting out, Beluga has all the ingredients to become a restaurant with a vast following. I've been through the many Japanese dishes and Sushi over the past months and have yet to sample anything that has not proven to be exceptional. The fish is fresh and the surrounding immaculate - the 2 for 1 Sushi lunches are also the deal of the century. Jay, the owner and his staff are great and encourage you to spend time and enjoy your meal - no rush here to add additional seatings. I heartily recommend this to all. My husband and I visited this place about a month ago and have been back several time since. The sushi is out of this world but they also have a full menu. Plus if they don't have something on the menu for your kids just ask them to make something... the owner he stated that he would be happy to make special requests. I don't know about you but service is one of the most important things for a restaurant and this one has excellent service. Course you can't beat the two for one sushi lunch special or the complimentry sake/beer either! Also just FYI they have two traditional style japanese seating areas for parties of 6 or more.
