Best

I have been going here for about 3 months now and about twice a week. This is some good stuff and well worth the money.\r \r Staff is friendly and quick.

Worst

I have eaten here consistently since moving from Dallas over 18 months ago but recently the service has gotten really bad. I usually eat here for lunch (I work at Dell) and notic...

Best sushi i've had yet! 7/14/2006

I couldn't stop hearing about this place, constantly, then for my graduation dinner I decided that is the place I wanted to go. I absolutely love sushi, and I know good sushi. This is the best I have ever had. TRUST ME! They have amazing service and a great atmosphere. This place is great for family nights, dates, or out with the friends. I recommend this place to anyone who loves sushi. Pros: food, service, everything Cons: I can't think of any! more

Love this place!!!! 7/12/2006

Our experience at Beluga was amazing. Service was perfect, food was fantastic, and drinks were excellent. The Ahi Tower appetizer is a must, the presentation is gorgeous, and the taste is wonderful. All of the sushi and rolls were great. Our kids had a great time, partially because the staff paid attention to them and actually treated them like people rather than nusance kids. Our Mangotini's were to die for!!!!\r Thanks!!! Pros: great menu, fresh sushi, fantastic mangotini Cons: none! more

Best Sushi anywhere! 7/8/2006

Hands down best overall sushi experience. You are coaxed out of your comfort zone (by the friendly and persuasive wait staff) to try the unfamiliar, but amazing dishes Beluga has to offer. Perfect for seasoned sushi fanatics and the not so adventurous newbies. Great atmosphere for a date or an evening out with friends. Start the meal out right with an Ahi Tower and your off to a great beginning!\r \r \r \r Pros: Great parking, not rushed to eat, great drink selection Cons: location, however more

Great addition to R/R 6/21/2006

This is a nice place to get together with your friends after work and have some drinks and good sushi. The dance music is upbeat and a good backdrop for a bubbly group of people to unwind after sitting at a computer keyboard all day. There is a tanning salon next door so you can get a booth and watch all of the cute women go in and out while you wait for your food. They have a nice bar the place looks clean and upscale. In a way, it is a little too upscale for the surrounding location that hosts a Wendy's, Kentucky Fried Chicken, H-E-B, etc... but hey, it's Round Rock / Pflugerville so there aren't many places it would fit right in.\r \r This place and the European Bistro in downtown Pflugerville are probably the best restaurants in that immediate area.\r \r Pros: Lively atmosphere, great food, great service. Cons: Somewhat pricey but relatively comparable to other sushi places. more

Unbelievable right in my backyard! 5/11/2006

I've been driving by this restaurant for 9 months now and kept thinking I should try it! Only when my boyfriend said he was in the mood for sushi did we walk in. Talk about waiting TOO LONG! We sat at the bar and were greeted by the most personable gentleman and soon found out he owned the resturant. We let Fish order for us and were so pleasantly suprised. From the presentation of the drinks, the attention to detail with the food and the atmosphere inside the resturant, we are sorry we didn't try Beluga sooner! We have been telling everyone about this place and are going to make this our new date location. Thanks for coming to Round Rock, Fish. T&T hope you stick around. Cons: Atomshere, Food, Presentation more

Just wonderful 5/11/2006

I have been to Beluga twice so far and have reccomended it about a thousand times! This is simply the best sushi place I have been to. I used to live close to Manhatten and have tried many the city had to offer. By far this one takes the cake. The sushi chef is a dream for sushi lovers! Fish came to our table to chat and we liked that. It made us feel special that the owner would pop by to tell us about things. I loved the music, but it was just a tad too loud. It doesnt look like much from the outside, but it will blow you away inside with both decor and food. I sent friends there who also said it was the best sushi they have had. The wait staff was friendly also, and that means so so very much! Totaly awsome expirence. Pros: food, service, parking Cons: music just a bit loud more

*GREAT* Sushi in Austin! 5/1/2006

If you are a Sushi connosseiur in Austin, and you haven't been to Beluga yet, then you're missing out. A classy set up, with incredible sushi bar, and authentic japanese party rooms make for a great atmosphere... and it gets even better! Friendly service is next, with a nice bar area. And oh yeah, did I mention the sushi is awesome?! Okay, you may question my taste or credentials, but I have been to some of the best (read most expensive) sushi bars in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Ventura, Huntington Beach, Santa Barbara, Austin, Dallas, and Kona Hawaii and Beluga is world class. Beluga is among the top 3 sushi bars I've ever visited in terms of sushi quality, freshness, and originality. I've rarely had sushi this fresh at any price! Master Sushi Chef Kim is a true artiste, it's almost a crime to eat his sushi creations! Pros: Atmosphere, Sushi, Tempura Cons: hard to find more

Can't miss!!! 4/28/2006

I came to this restaurant from the advice of a friend of mine who happen to run into the place. I have to say that the place is absolutely gorgeous. I don't have one bad or negative thing to say. The food was awesome, and the service was outstandig. This place apparently is one month old. I am pretty sure this is going to be the spot in a few months. I would highly recommend this restaurant for any occassion. Pros: sushi, food, service more

User review by msbear627 4/20/2006

Beluga reminds me of a sushi restaurant I like in Dallas. They have the Ahi Tower, Cherry Roll, and the 2 for 1 special lunch special just like it! Now I can have good sushi without driving the distance. more

Excellect choice in dining 4/18/2006

I highly recommend anyone to check this place out! The restaurant itself is absolutly beautiful. The food is wonderfuly delicious! I have tried numerous kinds of sushi and the sea bass, which I highly recommend! The staff is so friendly and the customers seem to range from semi casual to couples out for a romantic evening. more

Awesome Japanese food! 4/17/2006

We were very impressed with the quality of food and the selection for vegetarians. The spring rolls were quite good, as was the yakitori. The main dishes, vegetable tempura and salmon teriyaki, were well presented and were delicious. I would definitely return to this restaurant again. Pros: friendly, excellent service, great food more

Not recommended 3/23/2006

When my wife and I walked in, the host made us wait for 10 minutes while we saw about 5 tables open. He then seated us and nobody came to our table for another 10 mins. We were about ready to walk out when a waitress arrived. We saw others ""waiting"" in the queue also for no reason, even saw one couple leave while waiting and get back into their car. The music was this techno-dance crap that was much too loud, my wife and I had to talk loudly to hear each other. After finished eating, had to wait another 10 mins for the check and the waitress returned our change incorrectly. Cant understand how anybody could recommend this restaurant for kids, the music was too loud and the atmosphere was very adult-like. Have never not recommend a restaurant, but I feel others need to know about this place. Pros: Little Cons: Music too loud, Terrible service, Cheesy atmosphere more

The sushi is sublime 1/16/2006

I am very picky about my sushi since I have been eating the stuff since I was 6 years old and I just have to tell you that this sushi just melts in your mouth. I was distressed since moving out of Dallas recently, that it would take me awhile to find another sushi place that I adore. I went last week on a friends recommendation to their two for one lunch special. Another friend and I were able to sample many different varieties. I honestly could not find fault with any, even a new roll my friend had coaxed me into trying. The service was fast, friendly and very knowledgeable. They were also very child friendly, as my son, aged 2, was with us for lunch. I cannot wait to go back to get my sushi fix and to try some of their sakes I have been hearing about. Pros: Friendly, Great Sushi, Great Ambience more

Addicted 12/28/2005

Simply, I'm addicted to this restaurant. I love to go to the Friday happy hour and then have dinner. The food is excellent, and so is the presentation. Pros: Food, Atmosphere, Value Cons: Bit Loud more

This ""Fish"" will have you hooked! 12/19/2005

For a Japanese restaurant, Beluga is unusually loud -- in decor and often in volume. Every person at every table is pretty, trendy and immaculately dressed (the waitstaff is pretty cute too). The restaurant as a whole has a decidedly Los Angeles flavor to it. Fans of Japanese food have have a hard time resisting this hot spot. I often find myself drawn to Beluga 2 or 3 nights a week. Along with perfectly turned out sushi and sashimi basics, Beluga serves up an assortment of funky, unusual rolls, wonderful kushiyaki and RIBS !!! Select from an extensive sake list, wine-list style, or order up a classic sake cocktail. Plum wine spritzer. Love the sake happy hour! Make reservations for Saturday night because ""ALL YOU CAN EAT SUSHI special and QUALITY"" is very hard to come by in Austin....or Round Rock. Try it once....you'll be hooked.....promise. more

Great food hidden next to Dell! 12/14/2005

This great place totally caught me off guard! I really loved the atmosphere and general feeling of the building. The place was very trendy and totally not like most places I am used to in Roundrock. Best of all the Owner was extra friendly and came to our table and spoke with us very casually. I loved it!!! Pros: Very friendly staff. Cons: No such beast! more

Best Sushi in Austin 12/4/2005

A fantastic place to go for lunch, 2 for 1 special is well worth it. The Sushi tart is my favorite with wonderfully melt-in-your-mouth salmon. It is my treat to myself as much as I can get away. The scottish roll is one of my personal favorites. All you can eat Saturday dinner is wonderful, you can get practically anything on the sushi menu unlike other places I have been where you only get a very small selection. Good selection of sake. Try the sampler for the best comparison. Thanks Fish! Pros: Good Prices, Great lunch, great sushi Cons: Can get busy at lunch, no liquor more

Best Sushi in Round Rock/North Austin area! 12/2/2005

This restaurant is a definite jewel! Upon first glance of the exterior of the restaurant (strip mall location near a lot of road construction), one might not give it a try, but trust me, DO!! The interior is nicely decorated and the staff is very friendly and attentive. I liked the place from the start. Then came the food. We started off with edamame and miso - yum! Then on to the sushi rolls - they were excellent! They were VERY fresh and the presentation was great. I would recommend the Dell roll, the Jalapeno roll, and the Philadelphia roll, although I'm sure anything on the menu would be a great choice. The prices were very reasonable as well. I can't wait to go back. This is definitely the best sushi I've had in the Austin area and a great addition to the Round Rock area! Pros: Quality of food, Price, Service more

A Trendy Sushi Joint for the Suburbs 11/15/2005

I'm a big fan of authentic sushi joints as I lived in Tokyo for some time... Beluga is more like a place you'd see in New York or LA-- and that's surprising for a place like Round Rock. They're not nouveau fusion.. and they're not traditionalists, either. They're more into looking the part of a metropolitan sushi house. The sushi itself is decent and I doubt most of the locals know that much about sushi in the first place. It's better than the other places in the area, so for that count, I'd recommend it. Do yourself a favor and get yourself an Ahi (Tuna) Tower. Good stuff. They never have Bluefin Kama Toro-- it's expensive and I suppose it's just not worth carrying at a place located in the heart of the suburbs, but if they had it only once a week on special-- I'd be there! Overall, B. Pros: Ahi Tower, Nobo's Special, Specialty Rolls Cons: Untrained Servers, Unfortunate Location, The Uni more

Our New Favorite Sushi Joint 11/4/2005

We are so pleased to have found Beluga! From the moment we walked in we found the ambiance to be comfortable and inviting. From this site's recommendation we ordered the combo appetizer of Spring and Summer rolls, and' gyoza. The Summer rolls were awesome! We wish we had specified ""steamed"" for the gyoza. ALL THE SUSHI WE HAD WAS EXCELLENT!! We especially enjoyed the Tear Drop Roll, tuna and super white tuna sushi, and everything with smoked salmon. The 2 for 1 sushi is a fantastic value and a great draw. The head sushi chef is very amiable. You won't be disappointed here - TRY IT!! Pros: Freshness of sushi, 2 for 1 sushi Cons: NONE! more
