Obviously, if the person writing the last review has had to deal with this shelter over the years, it's probably because he or she has been cited for neglect or abuse or something equally wrong when it comes to the treatment of animals. This shelter is overcrowded, understaffed, and underfunded. That being said, it is still a wonderful place. Visit other shelters and you'll agree. The animals here are well taken care of, loved and cared for. If an animal is sick, it is treated. If it can't be treated, it is humanely euthanized. Adoption applications are refused when someone is clearly ignorant when it comes to the treatment of animals, doesn't spay or neuter their other pets (a sign of irresponsibility), is a known animal abuser or can't provide proper care. Dogs must be inside dogs and treated like family members, not tied out in a yard and forgotten about. They can't be used for hunting or breeding purposes. Every animal is spayed or neutered before it leaves. If you don't like that, don't adopt here. The idea is to reduce the number of neglected and abandoned animals in the county, not add to it. If you've had problems with this shelter, it's most likely because you are stupid and irresponsible. This county is loaded with irresponsible pet owners. The shelter is looking to remedy that by only approving those people who will treat their pets the way they deserve to be treated.
