Editorial review from Citysearch 12/9/2012

Horrible Service, Overpriced and RUDE owner! Go somewhere else. The owner ended up telling our group to ""GET THE F**** OUT! It was 10 minutes after closing and he came by our table and said were closed time to go - very rudely. When we questioned his actions and behavior that was his response. Great way to get regulars. When I called back day after to talk to manager I found out that was him and he said I was no longer welcome there. Don't worry about it...done. Don't waste your time people. more

don't bother 10/9/2011

After visiting a fantastic Piano bar in New Orleans I was on a quest to find something similar near the Conejo Valley. I was so excited to find Fiamme. As a surprise early present I took my SO.... I really wish i could find a way to get my $45 wasted bucks and my 1.5 hours back. The pianos were amplified and ported through the room though it was not needed and distorted the sound. It would have been wonderful if the performers could sing better. And while I realize it was supposed to be improv and funny I've never thought that 'Sweet Caroline' should be accompanied by one of the performers rubbing his nether regions. Then there's the food... The menu was sparse and we just ended up ordering the Fiamme CHEESEburger, The burger was ok, but not $11 dollars ok. Not that we were charged $11. One burger came back at $14 on the bill and $15.50 for the other. When questioned we were informed its because it was extra for cheese.... on their cheese burger. In the hour and a half we were there, there may have been a total of 12 patrons on a Friday night So, the music sucked, the sound sucked, the food was ok and they tried to rip us off. We shall not be returning. more

Horrible service, subpar food 9/27/2010

Dont bother unless you like paying for bad service. Extremely overpriced for a place located in a strip mall next to a chinese foot massage. It was almost empty inside on a Friday night and the decor is weird. I would not advise anyone to go here. An a little tip, if you pay by credit card check your statement the next day! more

All Around Great! 7/12/2009

We've been there twice now and had a wonderful experience each time! Wine, food great. Service attentive, but not intrusive. Hubby and I went there alone for a glass of wine just to get out of the house on a Saturday night. It was terrific! Took another couple a few weeks later for dinner and again all was great. Enjoyed all aspects. Music was loud enough to add to the ambience, but soft enough that we could converse without yelling. Yay! The owner was gracious, and the prices were not unreasonable given the atmosphere. I believe our water said they have a new menu and a new chef. If you have a special occasion and want a nice meal, fine wine in an intimate setting with some wonderful jazz or a terrific place to meet up with friends, you have got to try this place. They are welcoming and friendly whether you are having wine, dinner and the works or just lingering over a glass of wine and some cheese. Bellavino is our new local favorite! Pros: Wine, Food, and Jazz locally in Westlake Village! Cons: Perhaps a couple more bathrooms per gender more

Go somewhere else 11/4/2008

This wine bar offers new specials, updates their wine list, even has raffles, but one fact keeps me from visiting: the service. The service that comes with the food and wine is below par for what they are asking. The waiters are often times on and off about their wine knowledge, but most of all, you'll notice the owner. While this wouldn't normally be a problem, he frequents his wine bar often. Seen indulging in his own private collection in front of guests, talking down to staff and customers, and commonly being anti-social with his authoritarian demeanor, it throws off the mode and lovely setting he struggles to maintain. Come on! It's Westlake not Beverly Hills. Pros: Don't have to wait for a table Cons: Poor service, no value. more

Don't bother! 8/8/2008

Stuck up owner! Horrible service! I know wine and travel the world but this guy has got to go. \r Don't bother even going there!\r My husband and I were treated so bad there I can't even pu into words :-(\r \r Go to the Broadway Deli (Santa Monica) sooooooo much better Pros: Wine List Cons: Owner and the Service more

I wouldn't go here, spend your money somewhere else. 6/30/2008

My boyfriend and I went on a Saturday night - it was dead. We chose to sit in the dining room away from the band and we had the entire room to ourselves for the duration of our dinner, which was about 2 hours. The waiter came to our table and immediately offered his suggestions for ""value wines""...that was definitely a turn-off. How did he know that we were there looking for ""cheap"" wines? The food is definitely way overpriced. I was able to eat my $14 crabcakes in 2 bites... it's OK to charge that much if they were tasty, but they weren't. My boyfriend's pork chop came highly recommended by the same waiter who thought we were there for cheap wines, and it was mediocre at best. The meat was tough, and seasoning was lacking. We will not go back again. Most wines they offered there had a 4-5 times markup! Pros: You'd never have to wait for a table here! Cons: Bad customer service, overpriced, food was mediocre for prices charged more

Good wine, but super pricey. 5/11/2008

The bar is gorgeous, the bar managers are very knowledgeable and are quick on the draw. The food could be a little better but is more than decent. My main complaint is the prices. They are outrageous. Pros: Good wines Cons: Expensive more

Great fun, wine, food, jazz for girl's night out.... 9/15/2007

I went (grudgingly) to this place with some gal pals as it was recommended by ""hipster"" types at work. Surprised by the really eclectic bar area where we took seats and ordered wine and cheese (huge selection of cheeses). The bartender was really gregarious and fun AND selected a great wine for me based on me telling my likes and dislikes...no ""buttery"" or ""oaky"" Chards for me, etc. We decided to stay for dinner and jazz.. The hostess gave a tour of the romantic patio seating, fireplace and all...and the dining room with a cool collection of rock art and memorabelia...we decided to sit in the bar area, close to the music. It was a very happening place. I ordered the duck breast salad with beets and cranberries. Very savory with glass of Pinot Noir. We girls got up and danced although there isn't really a dance floor per se'. An enjoyable time was had by all. We stayed for about four hours, received friendly knowledgeable service and never felt rushed so they could turn the table. I would definitely return for a romantic date out by that fireplace on the patio or bring my parents (they love jazz). Great food, wine, fun and great energy... Pros: chick friendly atmosphere Cons: the ladies bathroom could be decorated better more

good wine..BAD service!!! 8/10/2007

So me and my wife had heard about this wine bar from another couple, and the big ""winos"" that we are we thought we should check it out.The restaurant it self is very nice, it has a beautiful bar that we sat down and had our first couple of glasses of wine( which were completly overpriced!!!). Afterwords we were taken to a table in a dining room next door which had no apeal at all..( it looked like a apartment belonging to a starving Actor)..We went ahead and decided to order a bottle of wine, so the wine expert of the place a young man, who seemed to know a lot about wine ranted about this most amazing bottle of pinot noir, that he said is almost impossible to find anywhere, and is only made a certain time of the year, and there is only a limited cases made....on and on..so i went ahead and paid 275$ for this bottle which was ok at best..But what made me feel worse is that night on our way back to my house in malibu i stopped in a liquer store and saw the same exact bottle for $45. Again this was not my biggest complain..the real deal breaker was my wife thought her fish was a little under cooked we told our waiter and next thing you know a really angry 6-5, 300 plus pound man, who I assume is the chef, came out looking like he was gonna beat up my wife, and told her ""she should not order something that she knows nothing about"" ....By the way she had ordered the salmon..so to finish my review nice bar, WAY overpriced wine, and bring your fighting shoes cause the chef will fight you if you have a complaint. Pros: Nice Bar Cons: overpriced wine, horrible service! more

great wine and food 4/22/2007

I have been to Bellavino several times the last month and each time it has been delicious. The wine selection has many to choose from and they also offer many many more than whats on the menu. Some of the food we got included several different cheeses which come with nuts and dried fruit, 2 different mushroom platters (amazing if you love mushrooms), raw fish, several different salads and a fish entree. Everything has been great and fresh! The prices are definitly high but it is a beautiful bar and the outside fireplace is beautiful and relaxing as well. Pros: wine and food selection, nice setting Cons: price and a bit snooty more

Wining and dining in style 6/17/2006

I had the pleasure of wining and dining at Bellavino on Friday nite. I loved the wine list, and the wines I chose to sample. The winetender was very friendly, knowledgeable about wines and very helpful in selecting dinner for the two of us. We had an added bonus at the tasting. There was a psychic seated at the bar while we were wining and dining. She read both of our palms and gave us some great health and mental tips. I would rate this as one of the best in Ventura and Los Angeles Counties, and I live in Malibu where restaurants are legendary and fun to boot. \r \r Definitely a keeper and a return venue for me. Pros: Ambience, service, selection more

An experience not to miss 6/13/2006

Bellavino is by far the best restaurant in Ventura County! Many don't know that they have a full menu along with wonderful appetizers and a wonderful selection of cheeses you don't find in many places. But the most impressive element is the extensive wine list with interesting and hard to find offereings. I try to get to Bellavino as often as possible, especially on the weekends when there is a live jazz performance. They have a wonderful outside area with a fireplace where we usually sit for dinner, than move into the stylish bar area for drinks and dessert after. Try the Eppoises, Purple Haze and Balarina cheeses! Pros: wine list, incredible food, Ambiance Cons: not open for lunch more
