Best

My husband and I ate at Belford's our first night in Savannah. We had a fantastic dinner. We had heard several people raving about the crab cakes and they lived up to the hype....

Our Waitress Was Amazing 1/1/2010

I want to start by saying our waitress Lyndsie was awesome. Poor service overall. My partner took me here for my birthday dinner on New Year's Eve. The food tasted great, I loved it but I am hating it now. We were up and down all night with bad stomach aches, here it is, noon, and we still have very bad stomach aches. Our waitress was great but a waitress named Rachel hit our tables 4 times, the fourth time sent my tea in our laps. Then she just left it on the table, didn't bother apologizing or cleaning up her mess. I spoke to her manager who was extremely nice. If you are looking for selection, this is not the best for you. Menu is kinda boring. We had Calamari and the grouper, both very fresh and good, just with a horrible price. Pros: Great Food Cons: Hurts Your Stomach...Badly! more

nice southern living 5/19/2008

The menu had several sandwich choices that sounded pretty good, but I bypassed those options for the shrimp and grits. The menu boasts that this dish is a Southern Living dish of the year or something along those lines. more

Mediocre at best 5/11/2008

First of all, this restaurant is located in Market Square, a very nice, but very touristy part of town. My boyfriend and I arrived on a Saturday night without reservations, and were seated within 15 minutes, which was nice. But when we were seated, we noticed that there were at least 7 tables open and set, but they weren't being seated... I thought this was strange. We weren't given a wine list, and when our waitress arrived and I said I wanted a glass of wine, she brought one back a few minutes later. Although she was pleasant, she spent a lot of time talking (and kind of flirting) with a table of two married men next to us. We had the 'lightly dusted' calamari - it was breaded and deep fried. I've had much better. I ordered the crab cakes for my entree, which were supposed to be award winning. They were decent, but the asparagus served with them was blanched or steamed too long, and mushy. The rice wasn't very flavorful, and the roumelade was a bit sweet. My boyfriend ordered the shrimp and scallops served in a puff pastry over a bed of spinach. It was cold, and the pastry was dry and almost burnt. The spinach was mushy and cold, although the scallops and shrimp were done nicely. All in all, not worth the $100 we dropped - I left thinking we should have had pizza at Vinnie Van Go Go across the street - for about 1/5 the price. Pros: Atmosphere, quick seating Cons: The food more

A big NO!!! 1/5/2008

We just came back from dinner at Belford's. 5 adults and 3 kids. We received excellent service throughout our stay. But the food was horrible. Both $35 filet stuffed mignon were mediocre, the stuffing and all the sides were cold. Even worse, after I told the (very polite) waitress about my food being cold, she returned the mashed potatoes and broccoli to the kitchen only to return the same plate a couple minutes later with slightly warmer mashed potatoes and still cold broccoli (did they just nuke it for a minute????). The Lemon Peppered Grouper was totally overcooked and dried out. The rest of the dishes were whatever and acceptable for a medium priced restaurant, but NOT when you spend close to $30 each. Pros: Good location Cons: Bad food more

Excellen Seafood and Great Service 7/26/2007

My husband and I ate at Belford's our first night in Savannah. We had a fantastic dinner. We had heard several people raving about the crab cakes and they lived up to the hype. We still haven't found anything close. My husband ordered a pork chop that looked more like something Fred Flintstone would have eaten-it was huge. He said it was perfectly cooked and very good. I had a lobster ravioli. It was extremely rich but very good. The service was wonderful. The restaurant was not very busy and our server spent a lot of time giving us recommendations of things to do in Savannah. We had such a good time we stopped in several days later for a quick lunch. Pros: Great location, fantastic food, courteous service more

Poor service, mediocre but expensive food 7/14/2007

Bad service, mediocre food with expensive prices. The place is run by teenagers who are running around grab-assing and sing rap songs and using foul language. I could barely get out the front door because of the kids hanging out in front, the kids were the restaraunt employees goofing around but barely making an effort to get out of our way. A typical tourist dump!!! Save your money and eat someplace less expensive down there or go someplace that is actually a quality restaraunt instead of just pretending to be one. Cons: soup was too salty, crab cakes were mediocre, teens ran the place more

Terrible dining experience 4/24/2007

This is the most poorly managed restaurant I've ever dined at! I booked the banquet room for 20 guys and it was a terrible experience. 3 people never received their meals and half the people (approx 10 people) had to send their steaks back b/c they were grossly undercooked. All of us are big steak eaters and even the guys who enjoy a raw steak couldn't believe how cold the steak centers were. After my steak arrived for the second time I still couldn't finish it because it was still undercooked. By the way, I ordered the filet and what I managed to eat was very low grade steak. Management was unimpressive and very reluctant to make our dining experience enjoyable despite several updates on our situation. After waiting 2 hrs for the 3 missing meals we decided it was time to leave. Management took off some of the liquor drinks but still charged us for the missing steaks?!?!?!?! We wanted out so we paid the bill and left. A week later I complained to the general manager who stated he would investigate and promised to call me back. Guess what... he never called! more

Another bland Tourist restaurant 1/25/2007

The concept seems nice and its well decorated. Ive been here a few times. I like the high ceilings and the open kitchen area, but service was always rather poor and being that its in City Market, dining here can be expensive. The dishes we've had really werent very appetizing and we had to send our bloody marys back twice. Pros: nice atmosphere Cons: bad serveice, over priced average food more

Wedding Day 3/21/2006

My husband and I got married at the court house and decided to have dinner near by. Belfords was perfect! We had great service, a wonderful lunch, and an all around nice time. The atmosphere was pleasant. The cost is a little more than the average place, but the food was well worth it. more

What a great time was had by all at Belford's! 1/18/2006

I was shocked to read previous reviews. As a resident of Savannah I have always experienced great food and service at Belford's. The outdoor dining has been great fun when the local musicians perform. Being right there at City Market has made for great strolls after eating perhaps too much of our favorite foods. Pros: sunday brunch, great servers, STEAKS!!! Cons: street parking, occasionally crowded more

Dull 8/25/2005

The service person was good....It was empty at lunch. The portions seemed large, but the price was high too. Let me bottom line it.....wouldn't go back, would look for a new place........ Pros: portions Cons: prices, menu options more

skeptical 10/19/2004

After reading the rewiew above, I was hesitant to go to this restaurant. We had been in Savannah for the long weeknd and were looking for a good breakfast place and went on our way to the airport. There was one waitress for about 6 tables (the restaurant was not full and it was 930am). We both ordered the buffet and the waitres brought coffee to our table. We asked for orange juice, and she replied ""we are out of orange juice"". I didn't see any maple syrup over with the french toast, so again, I ask her for syrup, which she replied, ""we are out of syrup"". They just opened for the day and already they were out of breakfast necessities. I should have taken the previous reviewers advice. The food was adequate. I would skip it if I ever went back to Savannah. Pros: no wait, good menu Cons: , run out of food more
