Behind the Smile Dentistry for Children

My daughter was so apprehensive about going to the dentist she acted like it was the end of the world (and trust me she can be dramatic). After her appointment she said she loved the dentist and wanted to go back. This was after x-rays, and a cleaning. Everyone was really nice and informative, and the atmosphere is just right for kids, my daughter loved the television on the ceiling she wants one for her room now! They really were wonderful and I am so glad I read the reviews and decided to make an appointment. I am going to recommend them to everyone! more

My young son really loves to go to dentist! He get so excited when we walk into the office and he races over to the video game console. Unfortunately, he is usually seen so promptly that he has to wait until his check up is over before he can play his game. On our last visit he had a little bit of anxiety during his check up. Dr. Carolyn and the hygienist were so patient with him. They did everything they could to make him comfortable and they explained everything that they were doing. They were absolutely fantastic! In no time my son was happily playing his video game in the lobby again. I have nothing but good things to say about Dentistry for Children! more

I have been taking my daughter to Dr Dowey's Murray-Scholls office since she was 5 years old. She is now 14 and she love's going to the dentist. Her experience has always been so excellent she was never afraid! \r \r I highly recommend going to Dentistry for Children! more

Great place. My 14 year old son has been going to the Murrayhill office ever since I think he was around 3. He had a an appointment at the regular dentist office to get his teeth cleaned and that didn't go very well, so they referred us to Dr. Downey since he worked with children. We have had nothing but VERY POSITIVE experiences there. Especially when my son had a few cavities throughout the years and when he was very little, he really had no idea that he had been given a shot and had his cavities taken care of - they are very gentle and caring. We are so glad we found Dr. Downey!! When our son was 1.5 years old he had a dental emergency but no dentist. Dr. Downey returned our frantic phone call in the middle of the night (without having ever heard from us before), and saw our son first thing in the morning. The entire staff is fantastic with him. He is still getting used to the idea of the dentist visits, and Dr. Downey and staff are so patient and understanding at each appointment. We are confident our son (now 3) and our daughter (1) will grow to love their office visits just as much as they both currently love selecting a ""prize"" from the toy bins! Thank you, Dr. Downey!! My daughter has been a patient of Dr. Downey for about 2 years and has had a great experience each time. The staff is so welcoming, nice and caring to each each patient and their family. The waiting area is filled with fun things to entertain children (coloring, fish tank, game machine, toys, etc.) which makes going to the dentist less daunting. To enhance the dental experience and put the children at ease, they can watch a movie while having work done and at the end of the visit they get what I call a ""swag bag"" of goodies! Each child gets a bag that contains a toothbrush, floss, toothpaste and they get to choose a prize from the bookshelf! My daughter can't wait to go back each time which makes me happy because no parent wants to take their children somehwere that scares them. I highly recommend Dr. Downey to anyone looking for a children's dentist. I truly can't say enough great things about he & the staff! more

This office is designed with the children's interest and care in mind - this starts with the reception, the office staff, the chairs, the instruments and the toy at the end of the visit. Our daughter has been going since the age of 2 and really enjoys the visits. The staff takes genuine interest in the child - at a recent visit, the staff was talking to our 8 year old son about school and my son told her about the project he was working on. The following week he received a card wishing him well on the presentation. more

Our eldest son was very scared our going to the dentist for the 1st time. I looked around for a dentist and decided to give Dentistry for Children a try. His first visit was a huge success. The staff is warm and welcoming. They have books, games and a great video machine in the lobby. The dentist assistant was very gentle and slowly explained to my 3 year old son what she was going to do and counted his teeth. They also have a TV set on the ceiling so that he could watch cartoons while laying back in the chair. And the best part is they have a huge assortment of toys for them to pick out as an incentive for doing a great job. Now instead of being afraid, my son actually looks forward to visiting the dentist. I highly recomend this place to anyone with children who is looking for an awesome dentist. more

Our eldest son has been seeing Dr. Downey for at least 6 years. Excellent group of pediatric dentists! We have been to others and there is just no comparison. The procedures that were performed were done with the utmost care and compassion towards our child (and parent!). They didn't perform any unnecessary procedures and they took the time to answer any concerns and questions I had. Both of our children, now 71/2 and 3, look forward to seeing the dentist, sitting in the chair with sun glasses, and picking out a cool prize at the end! more

My daughters love this place, they go with no fear bec they have never had a bad experience. They are also understanding with me and all my questions; they take the time no matter how busy they can be and shows respect for my kids as patients; we are not only one more in a long list. All the procedures that we have done there have been with no pain, no problems after and with high quality service and profesionalism.\r more

This is a fantastic office - everyone from the front desk through to the doctors are so inviting and comforting. My three year old son loves the big stuffed dog under his legs and the cartoons showing in the ceiling and the big toy at the end! I love that they show him all the tools first, and let him feel them on his hand and get him comfortable first. Then they are really gentle and patient. It is a great introductory to the dentist! more
