EXTREMELY UNSAFE & TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE\r \r My husband and I had boarded our dog at Beds n Biscuits on multiple occasions. When we added our second dog to our family we continued boarding there. When inquiring on how they board family pets, we learned that they board them together unless the owners request separate kennels. We made it clear on multiple visits that our dogs sleep separate for safety reasons due to their drastic size difference. \r \r Unfortunately, they did not board our dogs separately and one of our dogs bit the other and our sweet dog bled to death overnight while no one was there. To make matters worse we received multiple different stories on when they were last checked on them and how they were found, and I received no call from the owner about the incident. \r \r After speaking with several respected vets and animal professional, they were all appalled at their conduct and expressed the importance of keeping animals separated while no supervision is provided. They explained that sibling animals that have gotten along for years can get into fights, especially in a new, possibly stressful environments, and these fights can get very dangerous when the dogs differ in size.\r \r To make matters worse when I went to pick up my other dog they acted as if nothing happened and it wasn't until I told them I need to speak with them about it that the incident was discussed. The manager said that there were not notes to keep them separate, and I told him that they must not keep thorough records, and if anything they could have called us to check on it, or simply err on the side of caution and keep the dogs separate due to their size difference. ( I think they were overbooked for the holiday and just stuck them together.) I calmly expressed that I was concerned with their policies and that I only wanted them to reevaluate them based on the information I received from vet professionals. The manager looked at me as if I was complaining that they fed my dog the wrong biscuit. When we asked if they had a write up or incident report they had nothing (another example of poor communication and poor record keeping). I also told them I was upset that I heard nothing from the owner on an incident like this. \r \r The owner finally called me and apologized for not calling, but when speaking to him I found out that they not only had boarded our pets together on past occasions (against our request), but also had them playing together (even though they tout that they have like size dogs play together). After expressing all of my concerns and plea for them to reevaluate how they board animals, I got chocked up and he acted huffy and almost put out that I was getting upset about my poor dog. He also brought up that he paid for the cremation of our dog (which I found out from the vet he was transported to) almost as if he did me a favor. Needless to say I would not recommend this place to ANY pet owner. more

We have used Bed's n Biscuits a few times now, but after the last incident, won't be back. We typically travel with our dogs, so we only need boarding for business trips or air travel. They seemed full and reputable with the information we could dig up on them and they were recommended by a woman we see often at the dog park, so even though they wouldn't let us tour the dog area (said it caused the dogs to be disturbed and often led to fighting because of their need to protect or seeking attention) we decided to give it a try. The first 2 times we use them for only one of our dogs. He was very happy to get there, seemed happy to ""get his play on"" and easily left us in the lobby. They had him bathed when we picked him up and sent a report card with positive remarks each time. Things seemed fine. We felt more comfortable to then leave our 2nd dog on the third stay (he's a more cautious dog)... however we had to practically *drag* the first dog in this time... Getting out of the car he was fine, bounding up to the door, but the minute we opened the door he FREAKED out and hid under the bench sitting near the door. After several minutes of coaxing and a lot of spinning and crying we finally got him through the door. Our second dog (the cautious one who had never been there) didn't seem disturbed by his reaction and was ready to go play.... so we made a HUGE mistake and left them. After a week, upon picking them up - they were fresh out of the bath, had positive report cards BUT OMG were they ready to leave. It took the staff a long time in the back to retrieve the dogs and when they saw us, they DARTED to the door. We almost lost our arms getting them out the door. Because of their rush, we didn't have time to examine them but when we got into the car it was clear the first dog had sustained an injury at some point while there. He had a deep wound under his right eye, which required vet care and his ears were bruised. We called to see if we could find out how he got along with the other dogs, if maybe there was a problem, but they said they knew nothing of it and that he had done fine. I explained that this injury was probably a day old (since the blood which WOULD have been present based upon the depth of the injury, had stopped flowing and been washed from his hair with the bath) but they said nothing. It took MONTHS for the poor dog to recover from *whatever* happened in that place the last 2 times. We will most definitely never go back. Pros: Clean office, friendly staff, easy bookings Cons: Unaware caretakers, LOTS of barking, too much kennel time more

My dog loves it here! 2/1/2010

I took a tour of the place, and I believe there are 14 play areas, so the dogs can play with a similar kind of dog. My dog is tired when she gets home, but I'm sure it's because she plays so hard. She is always excited to go there, and of course she is excited to come home. She gets a nice bath before I pick her up. She's been going there for about three years. The owners make sure all dogs have their shots and are conscientious about getting all the updated information they need. If I thought for one second that my dog was not happy there, I would stop taking her there immediately. Pros: Dogs can play, clean place, happy dogs Cons: It would be nice if it opened earlier more

Hands down the best kennel I've ever used 8/14/2008

This place is like the Ritz Carlton of dog kennels. I insisted on a tour ""behind-the-scenes"" and even though I came unannounced, without an appointment, everything was immaculate and there were dogs barking happily everywhere in their little playgrounds. It reminded me of my kids at school during recess. I met four staff members on my tour and I grilled them about their own pets (I've found that's a pretty good indication of whether or not they'll be good with mine) and it was easy to see that each one of them truly loves animals. (Guess you'd have to to put up with that barking all day!) I met the owner later and he couldn't have been more gracious and welcoming. The only downside is that I spent over $200 in their little gift shop in the office -- because they had stuff I'd never seen anywhere else and I wanted everything I saw! Oh, on my first trip I thought it seemed a little ""out of the way"" -- it's in Wheat Ridge -- but it turns out it's perfect when I'm going to the airport because I can shoot straight down I-70 which is at the end of the block. Pros: Kind, caring staff. Clean! Cons: It can get a little harried on a Sunday night when everybody wants to pick up their dog at the same time! more

Find another place to keep your dog 7/31/2008

We needed to find someone to take care of our dog while we were out of town for about a week. We decided to use Beds 'n Biscuits. I went to sign the contract and got there at six o'clock on the nose (I didn't know they closed at six) and the man that came to the door tapped on his watch and told me that it was six o' one and they closed at six. What? Anyway, he decided to help me since I was there. No problems with drop off, but when we picked him up and took him home he was exhausted. He's used to running around and has tons of energy, but people in the area say that the dogs are up all night barking. Our poor buddy probably didn't sleep the whole time we were gone. And now to boot, we have to go to the vet, as I think that he has kennel cough. Who knows how much that's going to cost us. Please take your business elsewhere. We have since heard numerous horror stories about this place of business and their lack of attention to the dogs well-being.\r \r Concerned mama of a great little dog Pros: They washed our dog bed before we picked up our dog more

I looked at Beds-n-Biscuits back in May 2008, and thought it looked like a decent place..\r I took my two big dogs, rottweiler/shephard mix (85lbs), and Staffordshire/Hound Mix (70lbs), for a four day stay in May.. \r When I came pick them up, they were so very ready to leave that place...When I got them home, my Staffordshire had a big scratch, almost like a rug burn on the top of his nose that was about an 1""x1"", a 1"" cut under his chin, and a cut on his left foot. \r I called the kennel, and they could not tell me anything about the injuries...My dog was also very depressed, or scared for about 3-4 days after coming home....\r Not sure what they did to my kids, but I will definitely not take them back to that place, nor would I recommend it to you, especially since they, supposidly don't have the quality people to watch over your beloved family members......\r Pros: Good Customer Service, Clean Kennels Cons: Unqualified, non-caring staff more

innatentive care 10/31/2007

We have used Beds and Biscuits on multiple occasions with no problems. However, our dog recently sustained a golfball sized hematoma (bruise) on his back while there. I noticed this when I picked him up. When questioned, the staff had no idea what happened and hadn't actually noticed it. There are two possible explanations and both gravely concern me. Either they did not notice the hematoma, or knew about it and did not tell me. I find either scenario completely unacceptable. I may point out that my dog weighs 7 pounds and a golfball sized lump is quite noticable on his back, particularly because he has short hair. He required vet care and medication. Again, accidents happen, but it is the lack of follow through and attention that is most worrisome. more
