I use to not like going into Baxter's the staff was rude and i didn't like my expereince. I have gone in there recently and the store has done a 380. The staff is looking to help. They seemed to have had some major training. So give Baxter's another try and support local business and not coporate! more

I'm sick of trying to love this place. It's been in Alton forever, whatever, I don't care. I've probably been there 3-5 times to make purchases and I'm done, this last time will be the last time. Their stock is ok, that's if you can get in there to see it because their hours suck. The main reason I will not go there anymore is that the staff is SO RUDE. You walk in and no one says a thing to you, don't expect to have anyone say hello and if they can help you find something. You could be in there wondering around for hours and I still bet on one would ever ask you if you needed help. I made the mistake of asking the lady at the balloon counter if this was all the make-up they had and she snapped at me "What kind of make-up?!" Uh, Halloween make-up lady, it's Halloween time. And the young lady at the front counter, well she was too concerned with her conversation with the other employee just standing there to say one word to me during my check-out transaction. I have to say they have alot of supplies but help VERY RUDE and just stands there until you ask about 5 times and then they will barely help! BAD customer service from all employee's that would fall on the owner/manager training! more

I, too, have fallen victim to the rude employees at Baxter's. I was looking for a costume for my son and called the store first. The told me they had the costume I was looking for. When I went to the store, no one seemed to know what I was talking about. They told me they didn't have it and then left me standing there. We decided to get something else, but there was no help to be found. I even stood in the middle of the showroom floor hollering "Help!!". I had to holler about 5 times before some man meandered out of the back room and just looked at me! I decided to forget it. If no one cares to help me, my money can go someplace else. Too bad, cause the do have a lot of stuff and are close by, but I'll never go there again. more

Everyone I talked to told me to go here for my daughters birthday party supplies. So I did and at first I was really impressed until I asked for some help. That's when things got ugly. The girl behind the counter was texting on her phone and made me feel like I was interupting her day by asking for help. The ""help"" and I use this term very loosely was no more than her pointing and grunting... yes grunting at me. I ended up walking out and going across the river to get the supplies I needed. Talk about one stop shopping! Party favors, decorations, balloons - you name it, they've got it for any theme you can imagine. However the best part is that you can RENT a lot of cool stuff too. When I got married, I rented a punch fountain, candle & bow holders, etc. I've gotten enormous bags of popcorn from them for a trivia night at my school, and also gotten teaching materials for my classroom. Be careful though - they close early on Saturdays (don't remember the exact time). more

This is a great place to get all your party essentials. They have everything you can possibly think of. Baxter also has a large selection of items you can rent. The staff is not all that friendly but it is a one stop shop for any party. I shop here for all the partys I host as well as at holiday time for home decorations and items for school parties. more

Baxter's is the mother of all party supply places. If they don't have it, you don't need it. They offer a HUGE variety of wedding, party, and just about anything rental. They have invitations, novelty items, wrapping, everything you need for a party and then some. They have shower items, teacher items, popcorn machines, you name it. Forget all the other places, save you time and money and go straight to Baxter's! more
