Worked out! 3/21/2012

I enjoyed the class. I went through the one week program for a total of 40 hours. They do have a payment plan for those who can't pay the entire lump sum at once and they were very helpful in teaching us how to bartend. After i graduated, about a month later, after using their job placement program, I landed a job at a very exclusive golf club and have been there for three years now. They keep sending emails letting me know that there are some parties or private events that i could work at if i was interested and they will help you find a job afterwards. Maybe some of these people before think that it was a waste of money, but its worth it when you think about how much they will help you after you graduate in finding a job. It was all in all a good experience and investment. more

DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY! 2/21/2012

This place will take your money and run with it.... SERIOUSLY. I went there last Summer with high hopes in getting my bartending license. I went to classes regularly until our instructor just stopped coming all together. We had a replacement instructor that tried to teach us some other drinks but instead spent almost her whole time there on the phone with Philly trying to figure out what to teach us. after this experience with this instructor i filed for a leave of absence and when i returned, i had to pay yet another fee only to try to go for the class to find the doors locked with no instructor, no other students, NOTHING. With ABSOLUTELY NO NOTICE THAT THIS CLASS WAS CANCELED. I found it so unprofessional that i showed up twice to find no instructor and called to only get no answer. I ended up emailing them and got no response and lost out on about $500. WOULDN'T RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE! more

Not a good choice 2/25/2011

I don't usually write reviews, but after the experience I had here I wanted to save others the time and trouble. Places like this are the reason why bartending schools have a bad reputation. First off, like prior reviews mentioned, they have ONE person who is running the whole place, taking phone calls, ""interviewing"", and teaching the classes. She is actually really nice and it's not her fault, but the best teacher/bartender in the world could not do 2 completely separate jobs at once. Class is supposed to start at 6pm, but doesnt start until 7:15, 8, or 8:30 (i went 3 times). So students are NOT getting the 40 hours of instruction. Second, the facility is second rate. They don't even use real ice!!! How can you learn how to bartend without real ice? Ice melts in drinks when shaken/added and changes the volume/consistency. You will be completely off by working with plastic ice. The facility as a whole is dated and old, and you have to climb up the ""fire escape"" behind Capital Carpets to get in! I dropped out and got my money back since I bought through Groupon, then went to another bartending school in Westchester. Further away, but infinitely times better--I can't even begin to start. I've heard decent things about other bartending schools in NJ but they are much more expensive.... save yourself the trouble and money and do not enroll here! more

Sceptical at first, but well worth my time and money :) 12/31/2010

Bartending School seemed a little scary to me, not knowing it if would be worth it in the end and if schooling was even needed. After much research, I decided to attend Authentic Bartending School because of cost, looks, and quality. The training was thorough and even fun. The instructors were kind and helpful with all of my questions. The hands on training was by far the most important and best part of the course, giving me the confidence to feel like a real bartender. The ONLY reason people diss bartending school is because they are not dedicated and actually put the time in. If you want to ACTUALLY make money and have a fast paced, fun career, this is for you! Good luck to all! :) more

totally disorganized 2/23/2007

a disgrace. waste of money. understaffed, dirty. teachers are terrible. job placement guy NEVER answers the phone. Cons: millions more

Awesome!! You get to practice what you learn in busy bars before you even graduate 10/9/2006

I looked at all the schools and Im glad I went here. You really get confidence because you work in real bars with real customers, right during the training, a couple of times a week. I got hired at LQ before I finished the school. They cost the least and have been around for the longest. They are also not pushy and they really help you. I didn't know about alcohol before but now I feel I know so much Pros: cheap price, got me a job, fun Cons: too much fun, ended too fast more

TWICE THE QUALTY AT HALF THE PRICE 10/9/2006

I liked it because it's the only school in the area that has classes on Saturday and Sunday. I checked out American, their price was ridiculous and they have sort of a bad reputaion among some bar owners and managers I spoke to. Authentic was great. I work full time during the week, and I wanted weekend training followed by a weekend bartending job, and they gave me both. I got hired at one of their ""tryout"" bars, and it was just a great, fun experience all the way around. And they've been around for forever and their record is great. I also made a lot of friends in the class( a lot of HOT women go to bartending school!) Pros: great price and they found me a job fast Cons: they don't advertise enough, I was lucky to find them more
