Honest repair shop 7/29/2007

I have been taking my vehicles to Barrett for 10+ years. Once you have found an honest mechanic you better hang on. I have also used Barrett's service to look over used cars I have purchased in the last 2 years and both times his recommendations have been spot on. You won't be disappointed. Service with a smile and honesty is what they are about. more

They treat you like family! 7/23/2007

I am a college student who has been living in Austin for going on 4 years now, and every time I have car trouble my family and I are met with the same dread of finding a mechanic who is not going to take advantage of a 20 something year old girl. We really got lucky finding the Barretts! They took care of me like I was their own daughter. They helped me find out information about my extended warranty, talked to my parents on the phone without the least bit of annoyance in their voices, and even waited to begin working on my car until they were absolutely positive my car problem couldn't be fixed by the dealership for free under my warranty. They were able to explain to me what was wrong with my car in a way that I could understand, and were very personable! My family and I strongly recommend them! more

Good experience 5/25/2007

I had a lot of brake problems with my civic, so I was poking around on the internet for a new place. I was happy to find a place close to work with such great reviews. I was found that all of the reviews were true and that the service was great. I definitely plan to go back to them for my check ups on my car and hope they will keep me running into the 200,000s! BEST CAR CARE IN TOWN - AN AUTOMOTIVE BLESSING! 5/22/2007

NEEDED TO GET OUT OF TOWN AT THE LAST MINUTE - NOTICED MY DRIVING BELTS WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED ASAP. I SEARCHED FOR HIGHLY RATED AUTO CARE IN AUSTIN & BARRETT AUTO STOOD OUT! I SPOKE WITH THE LOVELY & POLITE, HOLLY, EXPLAINED MY SITUATION & THE WORK I NEEDED DONE. SHE PROMPTLY INVITED ME OVER AND GAVE EXCELLENT DIRECTIONS. BARRETT DIDN'T MISS A BEAT - HE WENT TO WORK ON MY CAR RIGHT AWAY. I KNEW MY CAR NEEDED FURTHER MAINTENANCE, BUT I DIDN'T HAVE THE MONEY TO DO IT ALL THE SAME DAY. NOT A PROBLEM - BARRETT MADE A DETAILED LIST PRIORITIZING EVERYTHING. HE WAS HONEST, RESPECTFUL AND EVEN COMPLIMENTARY - I WAS COMPLETELY BLOWN AWAY BY HIS PROFESSIONALISM! MEANWHILE, HOLLY & I HAD A GREAT TIME VISITING - TALKING MOVIES, ""MONK"" AND MORE IN THEIR COMFORTABLE & CHEERY WAITING AREA. It's nice to find people that know the definition of CUSTOMER SERVICE 5/4/2007

I'm a UT alumni that just moved back to Austin with his fiance driving around his old college Accord. As expected, I ran into some problems with my care last week and found Barrett Auto Care on the web. Based on the location, current reviews, and briefly speaking to Holly (co-owner) earlier this week, I was surprised/shocked at the customer service provided in the initial discussion. I don't like to bore people with details but if you're reading this review, you're obviously considering taking your car to them. They took my car in at 7:30 Friday morning, called me back within a few hours to let me know that I was having a tire shake due to a soon-to-be blown out tire. As good faith, they put my spare tire on, researched the maker of my previous tires and took my care to a local tire vendor all because I was without a vehicle for the time being. First impressions go a long way and I highly advise you to take your car to this business and encounter the true definition of customer service yourself. Pros: Good work and service all around more

Barrett Auto Care is the place to go! I'm new to Austin and couldn't find an honest place to get my service done until I found Barrett. Holly is extremely helpful and friendly and the work on my car was completed in a timely fashion and the car working better than ever! If the quality of service and the superior knowledge isn't enough...they give away pink pens! more

Only the best will do 4/27/2007

I am a single mom and have been ""taken for a ride"" with previous auto repair shops. I was so frustrated with dishonest mechanics that I had considered trading my car for a bicycle (!) Holley and Barrett came highly recommended to me by a mutual friend when it came time to service my Acura. The work performed was indeed proficient as Barrett is a master of his trade. My car was fine tuned to excellent running condition in a very timely manner and at a lower cost than what my previous mechanic would have charged (taken me) for. Pros: Excellent Service more

Worth the drive 4/23/2007

I took my 97 Toyota to Barrett Auto Care, based on the other reviews on this site. It is all true. Barrett and Holly both take the time to make sure you really understand what your car needs and why. My truck was broken into last autumn and Barrett fixed the wiring harness along with the issues I was having all for the cost of the $4 part. He spent extra time on my calipers without charging me. I think he really does treat your car as if it were his. I was convinced I needed a clutch, but Barrett replaced the bushing instead. It was a much more inexpensive repair, and my truck drive is driving great. Holly is wonderful, very funny and very quick. She especially impressed my with her honesty. When she wasn't completely sure of something, she said so, then confirmed it and called me back. I live in 78704 and dread driving on I35, but I won't take my car anywhere else now. more

Any person in need of auto repair need only know Barrett Kitchen at Barrett Auto Care. Barrett has provided repair service for my vehicles since 1998. I can personally vouch for his expert knowledge as a mechanic, unsurpassed professional integrity and service of the highest order. Barrett is the only mechanic in Austin that I will permit to work on my vehicles. more

Honda Repair at its Finest 3/13/2007

My daughter's 2002 Accord was in dire need of some repairs ( no working windows, broken trunk latch, bad rear brakes, and a tune up). I contacted Holly over the phone, and we scheduled a Friday morning repair date. Within 10 minutes of looking for the window motor problems, a disconnected wire was discovered. Reconnected--NO CHARGE! Holly went over the service that was needed to put the car back in great running condition, and assured it would be ready early afternoon. IT WAS! Not at dealer repair prices, either! I arranged payment over the phone with Holly to save me the ride up north. Pros: Excellent Work, Friendly Atmosphere, Reasonable Prices more

Finally... a mechanic I can trust. 3/12/2007

I had Barrett do some work on my brakes. I was really worried that my rotors were in bad shape. After looking at them he showed me what all needed to be replaced and was able to save me some money ! As it turns out, my rotors were fine and the pads just were due for replacement. He also took the time to show me some areas that can get hung up on the calipers and what he did to help prevent that, which in turns prevents premature wear. more

Hi, I have been very happy with the service at Barrett Auto Care has given in the past. He is a very good mechanic. I have friends who use Barrett as there mechanic also. He is very helpful and Holley is right there to lend any assistance in your car needs. They are very fair it is scary as a women to go and have your car worked on but, they make you feel very comfortable. So hurry on down to Barrett Auto Care for all of your car needs. more
