Helpful and convenient 4/14/2006

Though I tend to buy books from Amazon.com to save myself time and money, as well as racking up reward points on my credit card, I have also frequented this Barnes and Noble on several occasions. I stopped by a few months ago to grab a couple of last minute Christmas presents. I was very pleased to find very quickly exactly what I was looking for and at good prices. I have also been pleased to note that they have non-book items like stationary and a few things in the way of scrapbooking supplies, which I also found helpful and of high quality. more

Bargain books! 4/13/2006

I don't typically use Barnes and Noble when I have a particular book in mind which I want to get. I use Amazon for that. Rather, the wonderful thing about Barnes and Noble is the bargain books - many shelves of books priced in that nice, dangerous impulse buy range. I've spent several delightful afternoons browsing them with my girlfriend. more

better than the borders in town 4/3/2006

There are a lot more books here than there are at the Borders a few blocks away. But, there aren’t any dvds or cds either, so I guess it’s a trade off. They’re conveniently located and have fun events sometimes. Their café is more spacious than other book store cafes, so that’s nice. more

Oh, for cheap books! 3/30/2006

This is one of my favorites bookstores in the city - but not for the reasons others have mentioned. Never mind the cafe, or the pure volume of books, but the bargain tables are wonderful! Rows and rows of all kinds of wonderful things, and enough room between them to settle yourself happily on the floor to browse. A perfectly good - if dangerous for your wallet - way to spend an afternoon. more

A nice place to escape the heat 2/28/2006

I don't care much for the big name bookstores, but I do like to stop in and get a chai tea or a chai frappachino and get a book and get out of the summer heat. They have newspapers to look at and magazines to flip through. It's a nice place to waste time and relax. They do have a wide variety of books, if you're interested. more

A great Bookstore 2/5/2006

The Barnes and Noble right next to Rittenhouse Square is a nice place to go and relax when the park is too hot or too cold. They have a huge selection of magazines and newspapers, so whether you want to take in the news or kick back with a pop culture read, they have what you want. The cafe has a free cold water pitcher - the knowledge of which is sometimes a life saver in hot Philadelphian summers. more

Barnes and Noble Is the Best! 10/9/2005

Barnes and Noble is the best place to shop for books I've ever encountered. You'd better plan your day around it. They have the most comfortable chairs you can relax in while you review any number of bestsellers. If you like, you can do lunch, coffee, soup, or snacks in their lovely little restaurant. If you'd like, you can browse newspapers and magazines while you eat. My teenagers love this store because it's generally the only place they find the most popular teenage books in stock all of the time. I like this store because it encourages them to read. more

Barnes & Noble Rittenhouse Square Location 8/17/2005

The Barnes and Noble in Rittenhouse is sizeable with three floors. It also has a coffee bar area with seating serving Starbucks brand coffee and Cheesecake Factory brand cheesecake. Although the building tends to be over-airconditioned, you can sit in the coffee area studying for many hours beyond what is reasonable without being harrassed or kicked out. In addition, it has all the sections of a bookstore you might wish - it's a megabookstore literally across the street from Rittenhouse Square. more
