Very disappointed in poor staff quality - a ZERO rating 3/3/2011

I had a good friend in town and he was staying in Brandon last. I wanted to take him someplace a little "classier" than all the chain restaurants then saw Barbnacles. I had visited there several times with co-workers over the years and always impressed with the food. Unfortunately, we didn't get a chance to taste any since we sat at a booth in the middle of the restaurant but servers kept helping the few booths around us but never our table. After 15 minutes, all the servers, hostess and even bartenders were not to be found to even complain to or flag down. As we got up and was leaving the parking lot, there were 3 servers outside and I complained - then promplty took our money across the street to Buffalo Wild Wings. more

Good solid menu selections 8/24/2010

Have eaten there several times even though we do not usually go to sports bars. The menu is more varied than the standard wings 'n burgers fare, with some unexpectedly creative touchs. Quick, attentive service makes it a regular in our rotation. more

LOTS OF FUN 8/22/2010

One of my favorite things about Barnacles is their goal to entertain to you - from making sure you get to enjoy your favorite sports event to just hanging around listening to music. All this while having a great friendly staff to meet your needs... great food and a comfortable surrounding - who could ask for more? more

Great Experience 8/19/2010

I was very surprised at the food quality at Barnacles, the seafood was fantastic. We started with the crab stuffed mushrooms and were in heaven. Our server then recommended the Shrimp Malibu as an entree and it was delicious. Our server was very accommodating also, I have 2 picky kids that don't eat a whole lot so we ordered just one kids meals for them, and our server went just an extra step to separate the it onto 2 plates for us in the back instead of bringing it for me to do at the table. That made my night honestly, to really feel like I was being taken care of as well as the rest of my family. We will definitely be going back and SOON! more

An AWESOME place with GREAT food and a friendly staff 8/6/2010

Barnacles is my favorite place to go to eat some great food and watch my favorite games. Whenever I go into Barnacles the staff is always so nice from the smiling hostess to the helpful server. On my last visit I discovered that they have some new items on there menu. I got the Rack of Ribs, which was HUGE, and my wife got one of the new breakfast items. Both were absolutly delicious along with the Ahi Tuna appetizer we started with. In my opinion if you are looking for the best place to go anywhere in Tampa ... Go to BARNACLES IN BRANDON!!! The website for Barnacles to check out their new menu is www, mybarnacles, com more

Great Spot, No Website??? 7/8/2010

We love to visit Barnacle's, especially during major sporting events but when we tried to find info it points us to barnacles com and when we visit that site we end up at a website for Stone Creek Tavern in Dacula, Georgia. HUH???????????????? Would be nice to have a website that goes to info about Barnacle's. Like it during Lightning hockey season for away games when the Thunderbug and crew are there. And for a sport's related place the food is great! Fast service and very helpful staff with a vast menu selection. Beer is always cold and a TV in every direction here. Highly recommend it for the sport's fan (or the good food fan, too). Pros: TV's galore!!!! Great food, good atmosphere!!! Cons: Needs more parking :O) more

Awesome! Can't Wait to Go Back 4/5/2010

All I can say is Wow! If you are looking for a restaurant that offers more then just a meal then I recommend Barnacles. My husband and I went in for the first time tonight and were amazed. They have at least 15 projection screens and many HD Flat Screens. It was an awesome place to watch the NCAA Championship Game! They had an awesome wing special and ice cold beer. The food was affordable and amazing! We are defiantly going to go back soon! Pros: Great Food, Great Service, Live Entertainment Cons: None more

Great place for watching sports 12/17/2009

I have been meeting my girlfriend at the fine sport bar for a few months now and I have to share my pleasant experiences. I am a college football fan and have watched many games here. The atmosphere is wonderful and you cannot have a bad seat anywhere in this place as televisions and big screens are everywhere. The food is really good and the service is great too. This place has a great variety on the menu, something for everyone. They have many events during the week too. I say go and have a great time. Pros: best sports bar in town Cons: none for me more

Great environment, good food, great entertainment. 5/15/2009

New owner needs a lesson in customer service 9/10/2007

Barnicles changed hands and the new owner treats people like dirt, he must be a New Yorker . What was once a a great place to go with friends has become an experience worse than a trip to the dentist. Pros: NONE Cons: Everything more

Football, Football, Football 10/19/2006

Good food, good service, EVERY game imaginable on a million TVs, priced right, crowded during games (that's a good thing). If the guys behind the bar were hot girls, this place would be heaven on SAT/SUN! And I don't even have a stake in the place! Cater to Gators! Pros: TVs, food Cons: Parking when its crowded more

Very rude! 9/18/2006

We used to love going to Barnacles, but haven't been in a couple years since we moved to TX. We were in for a visit this past week, and we not impressed! The place was almost completely deserted - but, this was not what really turned us off. After we spent over a $100 on food, beverages, games, etc..., we were eating, playing a game of pool, and enjoying the company of our friends in a back corner of the joint when we were very matter of factly, without any explanation, asked to leave at 12:35 pm. Everyone with us knew the place has always closed at 1:00, so we asked to see the manager. The manager came over yelling "who said we closed at 1:00? - I'm the manager and we're closing in 10 minutes, so wrap it up and get out". We explained that we were there from out of town, and asked if we could play one more game and finish our food/beer. After he again told us to finish the game and "get out", we responded with a very calm "yes sir, have a nice night, we won't ever be back". The manager then turned to us, pointed to the door and told us to "forget about the game, get the F*** out now!" The bouncer then proceded to escort us out and stand guard at the door until we drove away, all the while making rude and unnecessary statements. We were treated like we were out of hand loiterers when we were the complete opposite. If business was so bad that they needed to close 15 minutes early, they could have gone about asking us to leave in a hundred nicer ways. I now know why the place was so empty! Pros: Good food, cheap booze, lot's of pool tables and TV's Cons: Rude and unprofessional manager/staff, empty more

Awesome food! Dog friendly...questionable? 8/12/2006

I've been a loyal customer for years at Barnacles because they have awesome food. I've eaten at the outdoor area with my dog three times before. The first time I actually called ahead of time before going there to see if it was okay to have my dog with me if I ate in the outdoor area. The receptionist checked with the manager at the time and said that it was okay. The last time I ate there with my dog was actually this past Sunday. I brought my dog again with me when I went to Barnacles yesterday. The manager went to me and told me I cannot eat there with my dog. I told him that I've eaten there with my dog on three other occasions. He said that the managers during those days don't know what they are doing. He said that there is some kind of health issue that prohibits customers from having a dog at a food establishment even if it was outdoors. I knew that that was not true. There are many outdoor restaurants around Tampa that are dog friendly. The only health issue I see is if a waiter or waitress decides to pet the dog and later handles the food without washing his or her hands. But as far as I'm concern, that is not the customer's problem. That would be the restaurant's problem for not letting their employees know what they should or should not do. Not even the awesome food was going to let me leave my dog in the car especially when it was about 90 degrees. So I decided to just leave without making a scene. As I was walking to my car in the parking lot, an employee chased me down and apologized. He said that there was something passed recently that said that customers CAN eat at outdoor restaurants with their dogs. He said that the manager was not aware of this. He told me that if I was still interested, I can go ahead and eat there. I probably may have reconsidered if the manager was the one who chased me down and apologized instead of someone else apologizing for him. So I just left and probably would never return...with or without my dog. more

Great food, fun atmosphere 12/29/2005

I love going to Barnacles. Where else can you watch 3 games at once AND enjoy an awesome tuna steak??? I definitely recommend the seafood, especially with scalloped potatoes. Pros: food, tv's, atmosphere Cons: slow service, parking more

great place 9/10/2005

This place is a great place to go if you want to see a game not on local channels. You meet friends of the your team and get to meet and jeer your opponents team . Very freindly and great food. I recomend it highly even if you are from Baltimore Pros: great staff, good food , pleasent atmosphere Cons: not enough parking more

  • The Scene
Families and the sports-minded crowd come first before the place morphs into a truck-driving (read country boys), testosterone-heavy singles-fest. A game room acts as a buffer between the bar and the pool hall. While TVs encompass the entire perimeter side-by-side, it's tough to focus on one event and sometimes hard to hear. Your best bet is a seat at the center bar, a spot near the second big bar or a table on the dance floor area.

    The Draw
Oyster bar for lunch, sports bar (with more than 450 TVs, including a dozen big screens in the center) in the evening and dance club after 10pm. The food is typical sports bar fare, but shy away from the burgers in favor of the seafood and daily specials. There's also a large selection of brews.
