My husband and I loved Barcelona when it was a little place in Clayton. The food was very authentic. We used to go a lot to have some drinks and very good food.

QUESO DE CABRA AL HORNO 9/2/2011

If you go make sure to try QUESO DE CABRA AL HORNO - Baked goat cheese in tomato sauce with garlic bread. It is really delicious. I can eat the whole thing by myself...although if you go in a group, get lots of different things and share. The prices are reasonable and the staff is friendly enough. I suggest this place if you like tasting numerous dishes instead of having just 1 entree. more

They think they're better than you 3/10/2008

Barcelona isn't terribly expensive and the food and service are decent, but not great. To me, the ambiance is awful. This place is loud and extremely crowded- the tables are closer together than any place I've seen. On a Friday night the insecure $30k millionaire crowd all look you up and down and decides that their hair has more body than yours, and their leased Lexus is shinier, or at least that's what I felt like. Tapas should be leisurely and exotic, not trendy and loud. Try Modesto instead. Pros: decor, large menu Cons: crowded, loud more

Good before - Very bad now 10/10/2007

Great tapas!! 9/7/2007

We tried Barcelonas when we were walking around in Clayton trying to find somewhere to eat. We had never had tapas before. It was delicious. The tenderloin was the best I have ever tasted. The food comes out as its ready. Service was great. Will definitely go back. Pros: Great food Cons: High priced more

Great dining experience at Barcelona 7/17/2007

We had a reservation on a Wednesday night at 8 pm. We ended up arriving the Clayton area much earlier than planned and decided to see if we could get seated an hour and a half early. We were seated with no problems. The place was kind of cramped and they were very busy but that was not a big issue for us. We shared Gazpacho (a cold soup), pepper-crusted tuna, spanish meatballs, and spinach and mushroom empanadas. Everything was delicious and the service was great. We drank mojitos and tried the white sangria, which were also very good. We had never been to a tapas restaurant before and really enjoyed the experience. I definitely recommend this restaurant. Pros: Great food, great service, great drinks Cons: Loud and kinda cramped more

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! 1/27/2007

We had a 7pm reservation. By 8:15 we still had not been seated. Numerous inquiries were met with a shrug from the incompetent host/manager. As we finally gave up and walked out, we were given a half-hearted apology. I can't help but think that they didn't really care. They had our money from the numerous rounds of drinks consumed while waiting, and they knew they'd seat the table anyway. Pros: Menu items sounded good, but as we were never seated I can't say for certain Cons: Loud, terrible service, incompetent management more

Atmosphere is fun, but the food is not the real thing 12/11/2006

I am from Spain and came to the States a few years ago and was very excited to go to this place, but do not be fooled. The atmosphere and location might be great, but the food is not the real thing. I found the portions just ok, and the tortilla (spanish potato omelette) should have no spices or other ingredients besides potato, egg and onion. It is all it needs to be tasteful and awesome. There are a few spanish wines, all of them overpriced and mediocre. I would not recommend to have tapas there if you really want to know what mediterranean food is all about. Pros: location Cons: food and wine more

FRIENDLIEST STAFF 11/29/2006

My family and friends always have the best times out when at Barcelona. The staff is great and the food is to die for. It is the only restaurant I crave food from all the time! I here they are expanding into other cities, how exciting!! Pros: DECOR, FRIENDLINESS, FOOD Cons: NO CONS more

Really replicates catalan culture 9/7/2006

We went to Barcelona on a Thursday night for a bottle of wine. The prices are unbeatable, and the crowd is as varied as the tapas menu. Having spent time living in Spain, this is as close to feeling like I was in Barcelona as any place I've been to in the States. The decor was very much authentic and it had a very romantic feel. Dimly lit and cozy. I will certainly be returning again and again! Pros: atmosphere, ambience, great affordable wine bottles Cons: The only thing I can complain was having a tough time reading the menu with the dimmed lights, but perfect otherwise! more

Love the sangria 3/18/2006

I love this place. Food is great. Portions are small so you can try many dishes. Great place to meet friends or a date after work. During the week, 1/2 price sangria pitchers until 7pm! Very crowded late night. Pros: food, prices, pretty people Cons: can get crowded more

We love this place. 10/13/2005

The food is great. It's a great place to take out of towners because you can share all the different dishes. I'd reccomend reservations because on the weekend nights it kind of turns into a hotspot and there are a bunch of people in the bar area. Try the beef tenderloins, artichokes, goat cheese salad. Yum! Pros: FOOD Cons: little loud more
