Best

I am in love with this place. A true LA bookstore.

Worst

Although these theatres are fancy with plush seats they have made an embarressment of their employees. They force them to wear overdone costumes with hats that only an organ grind...

never the same 12/12/2002

With the addition of The Grove, Farmer's Market will never be the same. While it's gorgeous to look at and the movie theater's great (fancy/pricey, but comfy stadium seating), the retail stores are too expensive. If you want a fun day, just window shop, see a movie, and get something cheap to eat at Farmer's Market. Pros: Farmer's Market, movie theater, gorgeous place Cons: expensive stores, no more free parking more

A+ 11/29/2002

Top notch. Best movie theatre ever. Supurb construction! Beautiful exterior and interior. A viewers paradise. Pros: perfect, Beautiful, easy more

Like it but not to shop 11/17/2002

I don't really feel that there are great stores here. The typical - and with all of the variety in Los Angeles I am not sure why you'd go through the trouble. It has a great atmosphere at night, always busy and very hip. Parking is a pain and they charge you even if you validate. We mostly just go for the movie theater. They do have the best Gap store I've found in the area. Pros: nice atmosphere, hip and trendy Cons: crowded, lame stores more

Best movie house in town 11/17/2002

Very cool. I love this theater. It's the worst on weekend nights - even getting into the parking lot is crazy. But we are total movie goers and this is the best experience we've had in town for a weeknight. Typical Los Angeles - everyone acts like it is a fashon show but that's ok. Somebody has to think going to the movies is a big event - mind as well be us! Pros: good shows, comfortable, spacious Cons: crowded on weekends, hard to park more

Awesome 11/7/2002

The BEST movie theatre in a mall so far. it reminds me of a NY Hotel lobby. Highly recomended spot to watch a movie. Pros: clean, huge more

Speechless 11/1/2002

This theatre left me numb. It is great. Every seat is a good one. VIP tickets gaurantee you a seat and you get waited on. What more can I say. Arclight, Shmarclight. The Grove is where it's at. Pros: clean, comfortable, free drink refills Cons: small bathrooms, no twizzlers more

Disappointing waste of time and money 10/28/2002

These ""NEW"" theaters need to get with the times, in civilized cities around the world you reserve your seat when you buy your ticket, no extra fee. If they want people to have a pleasant visit and return they need to make all the seats reserved. There is no need to have people fighting over seats or having to waste an hour in line to get a decent seat. Plus if i'm going to pay extra for a reserved seat i don't want to have to sit in the back of te theater. The nice building pulls people in but after my ordeal I felt like a sucker. I wouldn't recommend this theatre to anyone. Pros: nice to look at Cons: long lines, expensive tickets, long wait in lines more

Groove on The Grove 10/13/2002

The theaters at The Grove fit in perfectly with the ambiance of the whole shopping center, with a lobby that better resembles a five star hotel. Employees dressed as bell-hops will charge you $9.75 a ticket, with an optional $2.25 upgrade for luxury seating (only for certain features). You can either lounge around in the armchairs and wait for your movie, or step outside and grab a seat in the outdoor courtyard, which often has live music. Theatres are stadium style seating, with panoramic curved screens. Sitting farther up is recommended here; you can feel a bit overwhelmed and even surrounded by the movie while in the front row. The bounty of concessions is slightly over priced, as always, and bathrooms can be a bit of a challenge, but the overall experience is enjoyable. Pros: plentiful parking, quick-moving lines Cons: no student discounts, crowded more

Reminds me of Disneyland! 9/27/2002

I recently went to The Grove to have lunch. The atmosphere was very theme park-like for some reason. Although I liked it, one thing puzzles me. When I read the reviews for Hollywood and Highland, people seemed to heap praise on The Grove and complain that Hollywood and Highland is difficult to navigate. I must admit..most of the shops I found I happened upon. more

Mini Fashion Island in Newport Beach, CA 9/27/2002

I've been to The Grove once. The only department store is Nordstrom, which if there only had to be one, I'm glad it's that. It's nice if you like strolling in sunny weather. I'd go there again. There are a nice variety of stores, but it's too small. It's similar to the Fashion Island shopping mall in Newport Beach, CA, but a lot smaller. Pros: nice scenery Cons: too small more

THE BEST!!! 9/23/2002

THIS IS THE BEST THEATER IN THE WEST COAST! IT IS JUST WONDERFUL. FROM IT'S BEAUTIFUL ARCHITECTURE TO THE EMPLOYEE'S WOREDROB. IT'S GREAT. THE THEATER HAS A VERY ELEGENT ATHMOSPHERE; IT MAKES YOU BELIVE YOURE AT A GREAT OPERA HOUSE. THE EMPLOYEE'S ARE VERY HELPFUL AND CURTIOUS. THE SOUND IS EXCELENT AND THE STADIUM SEATING IS GREAT. NOT TO MENTION THAT IT'S LOCATED INSIDE THE GROVE, LOCATED NEXT TO THE FARMERS MARKET. WHICH HAS EXCELLENT FOOD. GOING TO PACIFIC THEATERS AT THE GROVE IS A FULL DAY EVENT, EAT AT THE FARMERS MARKET BEFORE OR AFTER THE MOVIE. AND CHECK OUT THE STORES ON THE GROVE. EVEN IF YOU JUST BROSE YOU'LL ENJOY YOURSELF. Pros: GREAT PARKING, NO CROWDS, BEAUTIFUL more

First class movie-watching experience 9/16/2002

I consider this new theatre the best in LA! It's spacious and beautifully decorated. The movie selection cater towards families and children, which is great. more

Nice, New, Comfy 9/9/2002

I love stadium seating and wish more theaters in LA would upgrade. Used the kiosk outside to buy my tickets -- no lines! Couldn't be easier. more

Walk in the Park 8/15/2002

WOW! I love this new spot... It's like going to Disneyland for adults. more

Groovey at the Grove 8/13/2002

1st classs movie viewing...the Pacific Theaters at the Grove is the place...reserved seating, quality digital screens, and food, drinks or snacks delievered directly to your seat! Pros: quality, good parking, great service Cons: movie sells out more

Nice but expensive 8/12/2002

Design is great, food is wonderful but retail prices are very high. more

Didn't Ruin the Farmers Market 7/30/2002

I, like most Farmer' Market regulars, was worried about the new mall ruining the atmosphere, parking, etc. Dispite the other reviewers concerns, the Grove and the FM are seperate places. Sure, the FM is now much busier but that ensures that is will survive and we will continue to enjoy it. Parking can be a pain, but the Beverly Center is worse. Stores at the mall are generic, but the theater is great. Pros: theater, fountain, trolley Cons: parking more

The best 7/25/2002

Stadium seating, huge screens, luxurious seats, high tech sound and all the modern amenities make this theater better than more the old-time places like Grauman's and the Vista. The lobby has a classy, luxurious feel with an old style ticket counter (the staff isn't actually behind glass). In comparison, El Capitan and Arclight are fun but extremely expensive. Ramp parking is $1 with validation. Pros: stadium seating, huge lobby more

Atmosphere AND good shopping! 7/24/2002

The Grove combines it's quaint yet busy and architectually fun streets and shops with the kind of stores that are essential for any mall. The outdoor ambiance gives a fun airy feel to any day, whether window shopping or looking to purchase. Not to mention, if you are hungry, there is more than enough great food to go around. All types of dining establishments and places to get a quick bite are in one area. It carries all of the latest and greatest styles for reasonable prices catering to many ages of customers. This is a great place! more

Comfort 7/23/2002

Great sound system, gigantic screens, and a friendly staff! Every theater should be built this way! more
