Never Order Online 7/28/2011

NEVER EVER ORDER FROM THEM THROUGH ALLMENUS or any other online ordering service. I have never written a negative review in my life, but this I can't let go. First of all, the number you get on the receipt is not of the restaurant itself, but of Take Out Connection, Inc, to which they outsource their delivery. When I called to ask what's holding the order, I was answered, oh yeah, I got the order in the morning and forgot to transmit it (this is order scheduled to arrive later in the day). No apology. ""I might try to ask them to rush it"". It will be 45 mins. When I expressed displeasure, the person threatened to cancel the order. Unacceptable. As for the food, it's not bad, average. more

Best Thai place in Forest Hills 12/18/2010

Great food, nice atmosphere, reasonable prices. Bann Thai is by far the best Thai restaurant in Forest Hills. I used to always go to Q Thai, which is close by, but I just realized there is no comparison. The menu options at Bann Thai are unbelievable and the food is amazing. The pad thai almost beats the pad thai I had when traveling to Asia. I just found my new favorite eating spot. more

FOOD POISONING 1/29/2010

RUN AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!! My wife & I LOVE thai food & eat it regularly, though we will never return to Bann Thai after how sick she became from food poisoning after eating their noodles and beef dish. Pros: Fish tank Cons: Hospital stays more

Edible but that's about it 12/7/2009

Very unfortunate, this place used to be good. As i placed a recent take out order, i pretty much decided that i will not order from this place again. All the dishes that we ordered were either overcooked (rubber shrimp(tiny rubber shrimp)) or completely flavorless. In addition, when we requested an item to be added to a dish (shrimp in addition to chicken) we expected to have an additional charge for the extra item, however what we didnt expect was for them to say it would be one dollar per shrimp. Usual charges are 1-2 dollars, but 1 dollar per shrimp is ridiculous. We politely declined and when the food arrived i was glad we declined because the shrimp were tiny, i would have felt extremely ripped off if we actually agreed to the additional item. I wold find another place to eat thai, this place is no longer good, definitely not worth it. Pros: delivers Cons: quality of food has suffered in the past year more

Bad food slow service 5/2/2009

I've never gone out of my way to write a bad review and have rarely complained about the food served to me. However, when the duck salad I ordered had so many bones and gristle in it making it practically inedible, I mentioned it to our waitress. She shrugged her shoulders and walked away. She later returned and told us her manager said,"" that happens"" and left. No apologies, no accommodations, nothing. That's a bad way to run a restaurant in these times. There are many other Thai restaurants in Queens that are way better. Leng Thai in Astoria is one. The only reason we didn't go there was that we wanted to stay local. Our mistake. Pros: Decor more

Great Pad Thai 11/7/2008

I agree with everyone else that Bann Thai has a fun atmosphere. Everything from the wall decorations to the utensils feels authentically Thai. The staff is friendly and helpful. Very little wait for the food and comes out steaming hot. The price is also modest. Parking can be a little difficult. Try the Pad Thai. Could be the best I've tasted so far and I've tried quite a few in NYC. Pros: Pad Thai. Staff and Ambience. Rarely a wait to be seated. Cons: Parking more

Good food, good service, good atmosphere. 8/4/2007

I went on a Saturday for an early dinner with 3 others, kids included. the decor was very nice, the wait staff were pleasant and timely and the food was great. My son had #34 on the menu, I forgot its original name, but it was a medley of shrimp, scallops, cauliflower, and mussels in a ginger & coconut sauce. The presentation was lovely- in a leaf.. We all enjoyed picking at his course, lol....For those who require more flavor, dont get the broiled snapper, its not highly flavorful, but it was good and fresh. The thai ice tea is very good, especially when stirred. The fried cheese cake was a different, but a yummy pleasure. All-in-all, a good pick, and with tip, the bill was only $114 for 4 entrees, 2 appetizers,5 drinks, 2 desserts. Cant beat it. Enjoy! Pros: Everything was a pro Cons: broiled red snapper had little flavor more

Good Thai food. . . . 3/25/2006

I like just about all of their curries, and most of their dishes are uniformly excellent. Only one I didn't like was a mixed seafood dish that didn't taste particularly fresh, but it could have been a one-time thing, because every other dish I've had there is quite good. Nice ambience, good service, and great, inexpensive lunch specials. They also offer take-out. more

sensational 12/30/2005

The decor is gorgeous, the service is good and the food fabulous. I being a very aesthetic person was in love with their plates and serving plates. Even the small bowls in which they serve rice is gorgeous. The ingredients are very fresh and the food tasty. I lived in Thailand for 5 years and love eating at BaanThai. Go try it! Pros: food, plates, ambience more

Great Thai cuisine without going into Manhattan 10/10/2005

This is the perfect place for a date with it's ambiance, dimmed lighting and sensational food. Anyone who likes Thai food will love this little piece of Thailand in the middle of Queens. Great for a cozy dinner for two or a slightly larger gathering. They offer both spicy and more mild choices, but if you like to kick up the heat, you will be more than satisfied with thier combination of sweet and hot spices. Pros: Great prices, Friendly service Cons: Parking not great more

loved it 9/4/2005

The decorations in there are beautifuL! The waitors are so attentive and friendly, I loved it. I totally recommend the spring rolls as appetizer, pad thai or the the red snapper as main dish. Pros: great service, nice atmosphere, good price more

Had a great time and the food was great 8/10/2005

Bann Thai is a neighborhood treasure 6/13/2005

Asian art on walls, statuttes standing on bannisters, on the bar, and even suspended from ceiling make for a lovely setting. The food is great - an extensive selection of authentic Thai dishes, including a vegetarian menu. The service is prompt, helpful and courteous. Even the plates and utensils are pretty. Pros: romantic, full bar Cons: parking difficult more
