Far Stretch in Pasadena, not a Hole in the Wall 12/24/2009

For an average taker that's walking E or W on the South Side of the street in Pasadena...for most passerbys it might look like another tea establishment. For me when I was diagnosed with diabetes one of the things I had to do was cut down a lot on caffeine. I discovered this place while on a walk at lunch and instantly fell in love with the establishment. Wonderful aromatics, nice antiquities, service with a smile and now I'm hooked. I've been coming here off and on for the past 6 years and I can't say without a doubt compared with most places I've frequented..it's not quite so average...it's an above average experience! I've spent countless hours browsing for the perfect gift mug to finding some of the most delictable teas that I've ever tasted. Growing up my mom and I use to enjoy tea together a lot in late fall through early to mid summer. As an adult I do find the antioxidants a big plus with my health and it's not always the same typical ""cup of tea"". WIth the variety of 6 caffenated and decaf teas (I have at my desk at work) I can always mix and match my flavors to fit my mood. A real great eye opening experience and I've suggested this place to dozens of my friends with similar experiences. I do like that a majority of the nice ceramics are from Japan..great craftsmanship but my personal favorite is my ""Navy Blue English Tea Pot""...gotta love it! Definately a place to check out if your in the greater Pasadena area or the other store which I havnen't visited as of yet in Clairmont. This is a ""Tea Drinkers Delight"" and for me also since I'm fond of anytihng Japanese...some real nice tea cups and sets. With that said drink up and enjoy, one place you need to experience! Pros: Good flavors, customer service with a smile & reasonable Cons: Will it fit most people's budget, fits mine more

A Tea Lover's Dream 11/30/2007

If you didn't know this store existed, you could easily pass it by...which is probably why there aren't more people shopping here. I found this place when I worked in a building down the street. It also helped that it was next door to my favorite lunch spot, Yahaira's. Anyway...the ladies who work in this store really know their tea. They always have a few samples brewed ready for tasing. They'll bring down any can for you to sniff...and will sometimes offer to brew some for you. In addition to the wonderful teas, they sell beautiful tea sets, from traditional Japanese ceremony sets to more modern designs. I always enter this store just to get some tea...and usually leave with a new set of cups, or a trinket for the house...something. I bought thank you gifts here for my cousins who flew from Hawaii for my wedding. Just small jewelry pieces for them and their sisters. I also bought cans of tea for each of them... maybe I'll head over there tomorrow...again. more

tea heaven! 2/22/2006

bamboo teahouse has an amazing assortment of loose leaf teas arranged in silver tins that line the wall and they are happy to let you peek and sniff before making up your mind. they are not cheap, but the quality is excellent so overall it is very good value. you can get exactly the amount that you want, as the teas as sold by weight. in addition, the store carries a variety of pretty teapots and tea-related items. it's perfect place for gifts. the atmosphere is very relaxing and sometimes they'll have a sample tea for you to try. Pros: quality, selection, relaxing more
