Best

We recently had our rehearsal dinner at Bamboo Grove and were extremely happy with everything. ?They let us reserve their back room ""Tiki Room"" and didn't ask for a down payment...

Worst

This is the best teriyaki I have ever tasted. The portions were big, go with the smaller size unless you are really hungry or wanting to share. The macaroni salad was really good.

A little bit of Aloha 4/28/2008

There are a lot of Hawaiian restaurants to choose from in Portland and Vancouver, which has been great - no complaining. As a Hawai`i transplant, Kawika's Bamboo Grove is my favorite. Thursday night live Hawaiian music with Kaloku Holt and Friday's Francis Du make me feel back at home. This place probably has the best kalua pork in town, no joke. The shoyu chicken is a little sweet from my families recipe, but I still eat 'em up! Pros: Great food and music Cons: kind of far away more

Like Hawaii in Portland! 6/26/2007

We make a run for the Bamboo Grille at least once a month. Their Kahluah Pork is to die for! Their stir fry is perfectly done. And don't miss out on the wonderful Mai Tais! We haven't had a single disapointment. \r The atmosphere is Tropical Island. We always enjoy the live entertainment on Saturday evenings, and even get surprised by a Hula Dancer sometimes!\r Last week we took our very elderly parents there for a 66th Wedding anniversay and they were treated like royalty. The Hawaiian Band even played ""Tiny Bubbles"" and the ""Hawaiian Wedding Song"" for them. \r \r This isn't a fancy restaurant, but it is definately a fun one with excellant food and service. Put on your Hawaiian shirt, and your flip-flops and head over there for a great dinner! Pros: Food/ Friendly Service/ Atmosphere Cons: Parking more

Very good hawaiian food. Great live music 5/15/2007

My family and I went to the Bamboo grove on Saturday for my birthday and mothers day and had a wonderful dinner. There were 8 of us and everyone tried something different and none of us were disappointed. We had reservations and arrived 15 minutes early and were seated immediately. Our waiter was fast and friendly. We also really enjoyed the live Hawaiian music. We have been to Hawaii several times and the food at this restaurant was very authentic. We will definately go back. Pros: Authentic Hawaiian food, reasonable prices and very good ambiance more

excellent shoyu chicken bento, great value 4/26/2007

About once a month, I get a craving for this place- the shoyu chicken, beef teriyaki, and teriyaki pork bentos are some of my favorites. Yakisoba noodles are also good. I usually order a small plate and its plenty of food. I've also used Bamboo Grove for catering and everyone always raves about how good the food is. Highly recommended. Pros: food, prices, catering services more

Great Catering 3/28/2007

This restaurant catered my wedding reception 4 years ago and people still talk about the great food we served. Most wedding food is pretty blah, and expensive but that was not our experience. People actually took all the remaining food home in togo boxes. They also provided alcohol servers to pour wine I purchased from a wholesaler. I would definetly use them again for catering business. Pros: Great yakisoba noodles Cons: I don't like the smell of pig meat so I avoid Friday night. more

SUPERB! 3/20/2007

Went here spur of the moment last Friday night and what a treat it was! Since it was my first time there, I stuck with the chicken teriyaki and I was not disappointed at all :) It was SO GOOD! My boyfriend had the seared ahi and it was a huge portion of yummy goodness! The wait staff was great and so were the drinks. I will definately come back and try something other than the chicken. Pros: great prices, great service more

my favorite 1/16/2007

my boyfriend and i have been trying new restaurants continuously since moving up here for college 4 years ago, so most of the places we visit are on a college student budget. but even compared to some of the fancier places we've been, bamboo grove is my favorite. the food is great. my hawaiian friends appreciate it's authenticity and if this is real hawaiian food i plan on moving there! the meats are always delicious, cooked perfectly and with great sauces, and the mac salad is to die for! plus, the drinks are affordable and i always try a new one and am never disappointed. unlike the other comment, i have always had good experiences with the service. they are very friendly and answer my questions. even when they are busy, which they will be on the weekends. but the wait is never too long for the food. i'll be going back all the time and you should try it, too! Pros: food, drinks, service, music more

Great Food, Good Prices, Blah Service 12/12/2006

This is a wonderful Hawaiian restuarant, with very authentic food. It's the only place my native Hawaiian friends will go. One of them is even a chef here in Portland, and he loves it! I've tried several different menu items and have loved them all and don't have a favorite. The servings are huge, but like the previous poster said, no need to take home a doggie bag, I always finish it all.\r \r The only negative to this restaurant is the service. When I have been without my friends, the service has not been friendly, even when they weren't busy. They were generally brusque, e.g. didn't smile, didn't seem to want to answer any questions, and took a while to come to the table. That was embarrassing, because I bragged to my mother about how good it was before taking her there.\r \r This place gets full very quickly, the best times to go are before and after peak meal times.\r \r I would highly recommend this place to anyone I know. Pros: Great Food, Good Prices, more

Fantastic Hawaiian Food 10/29/2006

Wow. The food here is awesome. The portions and the spirit is Hawaiian all the way, generous and warm. Live music certain nights, daily food specials and the best hosts you could hope for. If you like to eat with friends, this is the place! more

Restaurant come home 9/13/2006

Everyone at my daughter's graduation party love the food served there. They asked for the place that cater the foods and I tell them about this place. They serve mouth watering authentic Hawaiian foods with some Asian items as well, like Kim Chee and rice ball. The price is affordable as well, our whole party cost only $300 and everyone goes home happy PROS: Foods, price and service CONS: more

Best Place in Portland 5/27/2006

Fantastic food, and really great prices. Arrive early if you want to get a quick seat, we arrived at about 4:30 and were the only ones inside, but by the time we left it was full. However I could not find the handicapped entrance, so we left my daughter's wheelchair in the car. We will be having our wedding catered by the Bamboo Grill Pros: Great Food, Affordable, Great Service Cons: Handicap Entrance, Street Parking more

Best pig ever 5/15/2005

My wife and I ate at the Bamboo Grove for the first time last Friday- we will return many times. I had the Luau Style Kalua Pig (only served on Fridays). It was a huge plate of food- I was sure I couldn't finish it. It was so good that I couldn't stop until the plate was clean. It was truely the best pork I have ever eaten in my life. My wife loved her plate as well. The drinks were very good (and strong), the staff was very friendly (we were invited back for a beer to talk about Hawaiian surf), and the live music was great. I can't wait to bring friends and family. Pros: Huge portions, Super food, Friendly staff Cons: Busy more
