Very Horrified by the Bald Headed Bistro 5/31/2011

My wife and I decided to take our bi-racial niece to a nice place to celebrate her graduation. We thought that W. Allan Jones' Bald Headed Bistro would be a good choice. We were extremely offended and embarrassed to find a child-sized doorman in a tuxedo, jabbering somewhat incoherently. It seems like his sole purpose in life was to open our door. There was a hostess a foot away who could have easily opened the door, but she did not. My niece was so upset we did not stay long. But, even worse, as we left this poor doorman was pedaling away -- on a little bike. This place is vile and racist. I will never return. more

Not so great!!! 9/25/2010

I guess we must have gone on a bad night, because, I am reading the other reviews and wondering if we are talking about the same place. My husband and I went here with my step-son and his fiance for a special occasion. We were expecting a wonderful dining experience and were very disappointed. The service was great, but the food was not so great. The steak was o.k. but no better than what you would get at Outback. Actually it is worse than Outback, mine had a ton of fat on it at least 1/4 to 1/3 of my entire steak on a New York strip. My husband got the grouper and shrimp, but the grouper did not taste fresh or very good as they claim it is flown in fresh daily. I compare this to the grouper we had in Florida a few weeks prior. The garlic mashed potatoes that we were told to try were not that good either. If I were you I would go to an Outback or Long Horn and save a ton of money. I don't mind spending the money if the meal is worth it but this one is not. I would have to say if you are a business man and have a unending spending account then go it won't matter. However if you are going for a special occasion save you money and buy a special gift with your meal the food will be just as good if not better plus you will get a gift to go with. There is nothing worse than spending $160.00 and wishing you had gone somewhere else. more

Best Steak in the States! 12/21/2008

I would love to take a minute of your time and share with you the gold mine of the south. A hidden gem of a restaurant in the heart of Tennessee! The Bald Headed Bistro is now my new favorite restaurant in the United States. I am a business man who has spent hours of my life wining and dining clients at premier restaurants across the country and beyond. Whether its Tavern on the Green in NYC or Morton's in Chicago, I consider myself a strong critic and lover of steaks. I hosted a group of 12 businessmen at the Bistro over a month ago and I still remember and think about my experience. The appetizers were pristine, especially the artichoke souffle. A hot cheesy dip packed full of artichoke hearts and spinach. Little did I know that was just the start! more

Finest Dinning in Area! 1/23/2008

Me and my date attended the Bald Headed Bistro last month and will never forget such a great experience! They have the best scotch collection I have ever experienced!!They have the Best Scotch Collection I have ever seen!!!We both started out with the Blackened Ahi Tuna that was served with a Wasabi based sauce and the best cold slaw i have ever tasted! I then cut into my 12 oz fillet that had been covered with Oscar crab meat! The fillet was served on a sizzling hot plate causing a mouthwatering effect! My date had ordered the Southwestern Grouper. I had to have a taste and was i impressed! The Bald Headed Bistro is a MUST ! Pros: Service, Beautiful dinning area, Great Scotch Collection more

Not a five star 10/8/2007

I was visiting Cleveland and my friend wanted to eat at this resturant. Since we didn""t have to many places to choose from we decided we""d try it. I ordered the pizza and my friend ordered salmon, and we started with the seared tuna ap. So let""s start with the tuna. It was served with a coldslaw. Now I know it""s Tennessee but come on!! My pizza srarted out ok (not like home) until I bit into a rock that almost broke a tooth. My friend did enjoy her salmon, so that saved the evening. The bistro is ok for Cleveland, TN but I would not call it a five star resturant. And for a small town it""s way over priced! But we loved the service. Thanks Pros: outdoor seating Cons: dead animals everywhere more

Southern Western Grouper and Shrimp dish was outstanding! 7/31/2007

The Bald headed Bistro is known for their delicious mouth watering steaks, but last Saturday I tried the grouper & shrimp dish. The dinner was terrific. The grouper was light and flaky and the dried tomato sauce complemented the entire entree. Pros: Food presentation and service were outstanding Cons: smoking is allowed on the patio. Hopefully the new law will eliminate this only negative more
