The place is not the cleanest, our table was still greasy even after they wiped it with the dreaded wet towel, I sat there trying not to touch the table with any part of my body. The food, was a little too salty for me, the only thing I really liked was the corn bread, but my friends seemed to have enjoyed the collard greens and BBQ sauces. It tasted OK while I was eating it, but I felt like taking a nap right after, so not my kind of food. Now whenever I go by and see the long line of people waiting, I remember how heavy and bloated I felt after eating there. I guess it's OK, for one of those days when you feel like eating comfort food Pros: Corn Bread Cons:place not so clean more

Such a fan 6/4/2011

I've been a fan of Baby Blues for a long time. They have stupendous sweet tea, perfect pecan pie, bitchin' blackened catfish, and kickin' collard greens. Everything here rocks. I am not a BBQ afficionado, I only know what I like, and this is it. If you're on a budget, try a small side serving of pulled pork and a collard greens. It's a full meal. If you've got an appetite this is the place to go though, because it's all so good you won't be able to stop eating once you start. They have at least 4 different sauces you can put on your bbq and cool-ade too! When is the last time you had cool-ade? Can't say enough good things about it. more

Baby Blue's BBQ 6/11/2010

my dad took me here since he had seen its a couple of times on The Food Network, i had the ""Memphis Queen"" which included pork and beans, cole slaw and a piece of their corn bread for sides, and i had two different types of ribs, both being different types; and he had a shrimp po'boy with a side of mac n' cheese. the two different types of ribs were well balanced; one set being sweet, yet spicy enough to give it a kick, and the other tasted like their version of ""original"" BBQ sauce. since I am one who enjoys spicy food, I enjoyed the spicy set more. The corn bread was thick but it didnt have a corn bread taste, the cole slaw was too. the pork and beans and a mild BBQ flavor to them that was enjoyable. They serve Coke products, as well as Kool Aid, their prices were reasonable; $11 for a half rack of ribs, just by themselves. My plate, the ""Memphis Queen"" was $24.50. overall it its something you have to experience for yourself. Pros: they have an amazing spicy but sweet enough to leave a kick Cons: the cole slaw was bland more

SOUTH CAROLINA STYLE BBQ 5/17/2009

Best BBQ I have tasted!! from the down-home, friendly atmosphere to the exacting preparation of the rubs and sauces. The multitude of flavors for their finger-lickin' dishes are unique and put a different twist on typical BBQ. If you're a fan of this type of fare, you owe it to yourself to check this place out ... it's LA's best-kept BBQ secret. I have now been going to their 2nd location in West Hollywood. You will love it! Pros: EVERYTHING Cons: Nothing more

Baby Blues BBQ gave us the BLUES 4/15/2009

Went in with high hopes but left with a half full stomach. The Memphis baby back ribs had hardly any smoke flavor and were over charred on the broiler. Same goes for the hot link that wasn't hot in flavor at all. The beans were served tepid and would have been better had they been served warm to hot. The corn was good with the variety of seasonings and cheese. The corn bread was blase, greasy and hard, definately nothing to write about. Back to the BBQ, if this is what you do then SMOKE it don't grill it. I prefer Mr. Cecil's several miles away for their meats. That's the ticket. Mr. cecils for the BBQ meats and Baby Blues for the sides. Bottom line is I find it hard to believe that they call this one of the better BBQ's in LA when thier is nary a smoke ring on any of the meat. Shame, shame, shame. Pros: Cute friendly servers and that's it. Cons: Overpriced for the portion size, Hardly any smoke flavor more

Ok but not great 3/30/2009

I was so anxious to try this place out. I was willing to overlook the holes in the wall, chipped up glasses - in the hopes the food rocked. Pros: Good cornbread Cons: Where was the bbq seasoning?? more

I was so anxious to try this place out. I was willing to overlook the holes in the wall, chipped up glasses - in the hopes the food rocked. It wasn't bad - but I was sure hoping for more than "not bad". The beef brisket lacked any kind of seasoning. The mac-n-cheese was runny and had a pool of greese. And I know Memphis has a vinegar base but that's all you could taste... too much vinegar. The highlight was the hot link and the cornbread. I wish the sauce they put on the hot link came on everything else. Overall - not terrible, but nothing great either. Pros: Good cornbread Cons: Where was the bbq seasoning?? more

Really FUN! Great place for a night out with your buddies! 3/27/2009

This has become my favorite LA eatery. LA is awesome for it's sushi, Mexican, and Thai places, I never thought I'd ever embrace their bbq. This place is soooooo amazing. It has more of a Carolina slant than KC. Every side dish is to DIE for, the okra, greens, and mac-n-cheese. It is just ridiculously GOOD! The big beef rib is my favorite menu item. You don't need a knife. Don't pass up dessert either! Pros: Big Beef Ribs! Cons: small more

WHAT ELSE CAN I SAY, IT SUCKED. I WENT IN HUNGRY. AND LEFT HORNY ANOTHER OVERRATED PLACE THAT DOESNT DESERVE ITS POPULARITY. I REALLY THINK BEING ON TV HAS RUINED MORE RESTAURANTS THAN HELPED, BECAUSE IT GOES TO THIER HEAD. Pros: NASTY LOOKING WAITRESSES Cons: CRAPPY OVERPRICED FOOD more

Worst $50.00 I've ever spent 2/7/2009

I went to Baby Blues tonight because I grew up in Chicago eating BBQ all the time and hoped to find a spot on the West Coast that can provide my fix. It would be nice for once to not have getting good bbq involve being frisked at LAX. Seriously you cut my finger and bbq sauce comes out (no, I'm not fat and I don't own a cat) that said let's establish that I know my sauce and ribs. Various family members have owned rib joints over the years. This was truly the worst $50.00 meal I've ever had. My husband had hyped the place and he was so excited to share his new find with me. I wish he hadn't. I ordered the Memphis Queen plate with 2 types of ribs and they were burned...I'm talking nuclear holocaust people. No rib joint should ever serve ribs that could possibly be used as charcoal in my next backyard bbq. The side dishes were just ok and the ""hot link"" was probably a Hillshire Farms sausage thrown on that Chernobyl grill I mentioned. My hubby ordered the beef brisket and it lacked seasoning and flavor. Needless to say I won't be back. Pros: The servers and owner seem genuinely nice and pleasant. Cons: The food...all of it. more
