I thought this was a great place. The shrimp quesadillas that we shared were terrific. The pina coloada was...

When I first got to Austin, it seemed that everyone was recommending Baby Acapulco as the place for Mexican food. I went there a few times and finally gave up - what was the big ...

Vibe was happy 5/9/2011

I was staying with a few buddies at the horrible Super 8 next door (trying to do a pseudo-bachelor party night of drinking on the cheap). We had an hour and a half to kill before our taxi arrived, so we went to this place for some enchiladas and margaritas. Let me tell you, this place was packed. We snuck in to the back room, and took seats at the bar. It had the feel of a large family reunion or wedding reception, with people mingling between tables and handshakes all around. The vibe was happy, lubricated, and festive. In the background this hilarious Latino house band was playing, a cross between La Bamba and the Wedding Singer.  The margaritas, however, were no laughing matter, especially the famed purple one. more

The perfect balance 4/26/2011

We thought we would take a break from our walk and stop in for a margarita at the bar and ended up staying for lunch. Their margarita is the best I have ever had! Not too sweet and not too tart, the perfect balance. The bartender mentioned fresh lime juice.Their soup was outstanding! I liked being able to add the cheese, cilantro and onion. The portion is definitely enough to share or a meal in itself. We also had the fish tacos which were very delicious. They didn't skimp on the fish and I loved the addition of the avocado slice. more

I love this place 4/25/2011

I love this place. Great View outside, the flaca platter and the shrimp con queso appetizer is awsome. The platter is a giant burrito with chicken and chz chz chz! Then, they put a tomato based sauce on top &more chz! Comes with rice and beans. The appetizer is baked. It has shrimp, cheese, mushrooms, & onions. I opt out the mushrooms & onions when I order it as a meal but when I'm sharing it, it's not hard to get around what you don't like. It comes with warm tortillas. A lot of people come for the margaritas, but I luv the berry mojito. It has fresh blue, black, and raspberries in it. Some muddled with the fresh mint sprigs, and some whole. It just looks refreshing. Very crisp drink more

I can't wait to go back! 4/22/2011

I never thought to get a Mexican martini anywhere else but Trudy's before... But the Mexican martinis at Baby A's are so much better; they're tastefully dirty dirty and worth coming for alone! I can't believe people are impressed with the purple drink when they could drink this instead. I had migas when I ate there. They allowed me to substitute the sauce that came on them for queso and it was buttery and delicious. I can't wait to go back! You gotta try it :) more

DELICIOUS TORTILLA SOUP!! 4/21/2011

DELICIOUS TORTILLA SOUP!!! I vote Baby Acapulco the best Tex Mex in Austin. I call the tortilla soup at Baby A's "The PHO of the Southwest!". The savory chicken tortilla soup is accomodated by avocados, cheese, spanish rice, cilantro, and extra corn tortillas. You can add the cheese, spanish rice, cilantro, and extra corn tortillas to your liking. Baby A's also has amazing margaritas and we even met some cool people there. I highly recommend Baby Acapulco's! more

AMAZING 4/15/2011

We only went for drinks & appetizers. Quite frankly the place doesnt look like much so we figured it would be awful from the start. Turns out we had the nicest waiter!! (I believe his name was John?) and the appetizer platter was AMAZING...it was so so good. :D The drinks were nothing special but they weren't bad. more

Eureka! 4/14/2011

Eureka! The best margarita on the planet!: Authentic Mexican Food- generous Texas-sized portions of fantastic food the owner learned from his Mexican Grandmother- you won't find this variety or style in any other Mexican restaurant. Great Service- friendly servers- and the food most certainly not pre-pared! Don't leave town without trying a margarita- Patrone tequilla makes the difference! more

Great food, decent prices, and good service 3/11/2011

I have been going here for since I was about 8 years old. They have great food, decent prices, and good service. The prices may seem about average at first, until you take a bite. I really love their nacho's. I wish I lived in Austin again, because I would eat here at least once a week. They have a shuttle bus, or used to. I am not sure where it picks up or drops off, but have seen that they have one. They have some expensive items on the menu, but there are a lot for under $9. You can see the menu on their website. more

NEVER AGAIN! 7/14/2008

If you want marginal, dishonest service and a "the customer is always wrong" attitude then I highly recommend Baby Acapulco. We went there for happy hour for drinks and appetizers. Apparently the waitstaff has no idea what items are on the happy hour menu. Otherwise why would we have been told an item was on that menu and then get charged full price for it. When we spoke to the manager about it, you would think she would have apologized and then corrected our check, right? WRONG! Instead she demanded to know which member of the waitstaff had given us that information. Since said waitstaff member was not the one that served us, we didn't remember what he looked like. We thought saying "we don't know" would make that abundantly clear but again we were wrong. For a moment we thought she was going to parade us around the restaurant until we indentified the culprit. Unbelivable! We will never set foot in that restaurant again and advise others not to either. more
