Homophobic college hangout 4/26/2006

I haven't gone back to "Baby A's" on the IH-35 access road in quite awhile because the food is only so-so, and with a large group of gay men, the wait staff was downright hostile. If they had any sense, as waiters they'd know that groups of gay men are the best tippers. more

not so good 4/17/2006

The last time I went to Baby Acapulco's my friend had her purse stolen by a pair of scumbags that were hanging out on the patio, and that was enough to keep us from ever going back. However, truthfully we should have stopped going before that happened. The food here is not good - it's hard to screw up chips and salsa (or queso), but as far as actual entrees, I've never had anything I was impressed with. Besides that, the service varies from pleasant to downright obnoxious (as do the crowd that tends to gather here). more

decent food 4/5/2006

The food at Baby A's is ok. I always hear people raving about this place and so I've been there a few times and the food is nothing special. Their drinks are not that great either. I don't like the atmosphere which is horribly loud, and their parking is terrible. I would not recommend this place to anyone. more

Baby Acapulco 3/27/2006

When I first got to Austin, it seemed that everyone was recommending Baby Acapulco as the place for Mexican food. I went there a few times and finally gave up - what was the big deal? Their parking is basically non-existent and you can't ever hear anything since the place is so loud. The food is okay but after having such a hard time to find parking and paying $10 for enchiladas, you can think of a few places to find a better and pleasant experience. There's an abundance of good Mexican food places in Austin. This is definitely the trendy place and their food is OK. In fact, if the rest of the factors weren't so bad, I bet the food would taste better. But, they're not. It's just an average place for me. more

What is the big deal 3/21/2006

Okay, I am sooo over Baby A's and I still don't know what the big deal is. Their food is so overpriced and quite frankly I've had better. The margaritas are overpriced mush and koolaid. Baby Acapulco has got to be one of the worst places to dine at in Austin. It's always jampacked and you can't even hear your guests talk, the food is nothing to loose sleep over and the prices are outrageous. For that much moola, I prefer to seek out another restaurant where I can actually enjoy a nice conversation. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone unless you like koolaid. more
