I went to Babouche last night (a Monday.) It has only been open for a few weeks, so word is just getting out. The entrance is hard to find, as the address is Prince Street, but the entrance is on Mercer. Sit upstairs to avoid the glare from the L'Occitane store next door. The decor looks like a Moroccan building with elaborate woodwork, dim lights, and pillows strewn everywhere. The hummus was great, the chicken pastilla was delicious, as was the dessert pastilla. I had the lamb tagine, which was ok. The food is not terribly sophisticated, more like Moroccan peasant food, but it was very good. The proprietor, Omar, seemed to genuinely care that his clientele is satisfied, which I liked alot. I liked the experience, and would definitely go back.
