Babin's Seafood House

I love going to the Kemah Boardwalk, but I don't always want fried shrimp and stuffed flounder, so Babin's comes in very handy. You can get a great thick and juicy steak and hot baked potato, plus nice crispy fries -- all served up in a warm and cozy steakhouse environment. Nice break from the seafood places nearby. more

A bit hidden behind an amusement area, Babins sits more or less in the spot once home to RRotten RRed's Castaways, blown off the map by Hurricane Beaula in 1967, and next to the famed Jimmie Walker's Edgewater. Parking is a zoo now. more

May 08, Mother's day dinner, it was pouring down rain and the restaurant was not busy. It took approximately, 15-20 minutes before our server greeted us. We were sat next to a dirty tray of food. 45 minutes later, the manager and several waiters passed by our table and no one attempted to pick up the tray. After realizing no one was going to do anything with this eye-sore, I asked someone to please remove the tray. Once our server came to greet us, he did not apologize for his delay. The remaining dinning experience was unpleasant because our drinks were always empty, no table maintanance. As we were leaving another family was complaining of the same treatment to management, and they were served by a different waiter. Its a shame that a good restaurant could be fantastic if they could get their management and servers to do their jobs. Probably the overall best dining experience @ the Kemah Boardwalk. The lunch menu is certainly the best bargain on the Boardwalk. The Soup and Salad lunch special gives you a choice of 3 different salads and four delicious soups (try them all). The tab including a generous gratuity is $10. For an evening meal I highly recommend the Blackend Wild Atchfalaya catfish. No mushy farm raised here! Pros: The Food, The Staff, The Value more
