Babe's Chicken Dinner House

I don't think these people know what they are talking about. Babes has the best chicken around and I love the family atmosphere! The whole experience is fabulous! more

My husband and I take all of our out of town guests here. Everyone loves the experience. It's not the kind of place you go to expecting all the fancy service, it's fun and easy. The food is always good, my favorite is the smoked chicken. The staff is always friendly. If something isn't right, you just have to speak up! As for the noise, it's part of the charm, especially when they do the hokey pokey. Our 11 month old is never happier than when we're at Babes or as my sister in Colorado says, mmmmmBabes. more

Sat. Sept. 22 was my first and last visit. Myself and my date arrived appox. 5PM. there was no waiting and we were seated at once. I had no idea that I was to sit inches from someone I did not know or cared to sit with. The tables were jammed so close together it was difficult to maneuver through the maze. The noise level was so bad I could not even hear the food choices told us by the waitress. I was apparent we were to early as the staff was having to make excuses to already dinning customers that the bread would be fourth coming soon. We recieved our order about 20 min. after taken. The mashed potatoes were runny, the corn stiff, the bread undercooked, the meat gristle, but the green beans were good. We ate hardley any of the food and were never asked once if anything was wrong. I paid my tab of almost $30.00 left, and went somewhere else and ate dinner. Re-Cap: It seems a place to cram as many people as possible, slop down the food, and collect the $$. more

If you want the best chicken fried steak around, or vegetables, or any kind of chicken, babes is the place to go. I currently went to the one in Carrolton, Tx and it was sooo awesome. Any time i am back in that area, i will make a point to go back there. more

This restaurant in Carrolton is a must taste for sure! A friend recommended the place to me - they have a giant juke box that mostly played Elvis music while we were there. It's best to bring a full group so you can pass around the delicious sides! Basically everyone in your group orders a main dish (chicken fingers, chicken, chicken fried steak) and you share the sides - corn, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans and the most delicious biscuits!!! They also have honey on the table. They bring out salad first that has a yummy sweet onion vinegar dressing but it is just lettuce, no fun stuff like croûtons or tomatoes. (Eat only a little salad to save room for all the food!!!) more

Where do you go to find a great home cooked meal like mom used to make if your mom isn't in Dallas but you are? How about stopping in at Babe's Chicken Dinner House! With a country atmosphere and family style eating it's a great place to go with a group of friends or family. The chicken and chicken fried steak are GREAT! Same goes for the side dishes... which are all you can eat! The way it works is like this: You order a main dish (smoked chicken, fried chicken, chicken tenders, chicken fried steak) and everyone shares the side dishes. You get mashed potatoes, green beans, biscuits, gravy... pretty much all the good stuff! If I could give this one 6 stars I would! more

I'd read some really great reviews of the original Babe's and was happy to have one opening near me. I don't get it. The first time I went I got fried chicken and was underwhelmed. It was overcooked and the sides weren't anything spectacular. I like the biscuits, but I generally like all biscuits. Another time I got chicken strips and they were better than the fried chicken but I'm not paying $8-$9 for chicken strips and generic sides. Also, the singing waitresses is annoying and hokey. I am however fascinated by the jugs of sorghum available for purchase when you pay your bill. I never finish my honey bear, so I can't imagine needing that much sorghum for anything. more
