I Love Babe's It Is Simply THE BEST 2/6/2009

My cousin and I tried Babe's a couple of years ago at the Roanoke location. Then we tried the Sanger location, then the Carrollton location. All Superb! We will typically order two entrees per person and try to finish both off while at the restaurant. I must be the only patron that can eat three bowls of mashed potatoes all by myself! But I was prepared and went to the restaurant hungry. My cousin ate every piece of her fried chicken AND her chicken fried steak. She had three bowls of the corn to herself as I do not care for corn. Between the both of us we ate a dozen biscuits. So I guess you could say we DID get our money's worth there. We discovered quite by accident that the salad dressing will double as a wonderful exfoliator for the face and neck. I just happened to take some home with me and had a date one evening and I thought to myself, why don't I try that salad dressing with the vinegar as an exfoliant. I have to say it worked much better than pricier exfoliants that I've purchased at department stores. \r \r You cannot go wrong with Babe's they are absolutely the best at down home, southern cooking. In fact, we are visiting the Carrollton location tonight and I would imagine our bill will run the usual $180.00-200.00 range....but it's worth it. I love Babe's!!!! Pros: Everything!!! Cons: Nothing more

Yummy fried chicken! 1/26/2009

There are things that I love about Babe's, and things that I don't. The fried and smoked chicken, both just fab, and I don't mean maybe. Love the family style serving in shared serve yourself bowls, and the potatoes and gravy are great. I also like the creamed corn, although it does have that canned tase. The chicken fried steak is okay, not terrific, but the roast beef looks so bad I won't try it. Haven't tried the tenders, but they look pretty good, too. The green beans are just okay, the salad dressing is, uh, unusual, but I like it. But, the biscuits have no flavor whatsoever and in my opinion are worthless carbs. The desserts are great (best pineapple upside down cake I've ever had, and the coconut cream pie is to die for). For the price, it's hard to beat Babe's -- $10 for a ton of good, Southern bad for you food. What I don't like is the hokey service, where the really young servers try to be down home and josh it up with you. There's something about that too familiar thing coming from a kid that irks me. Also, the song and dance routines that they engage in are just dumb. The seating can get crowded (make sure you go at off times, or you'll be sorry), but if you can manage a place on the side it's much more comfortable. All in all, it's good food and a great value. Pros: Mostly terrific home cooking Southern food Cons: Despise the ""all too familiar with you"" service from really young servers and the dance routines more

My new #1 place to eat! 1/6/2009

I've been a fan of Babe's for years, but over the Christmas break I made an executive decision: Babe's is my new favorite restaurant. It is a great place with great food, and the atmosphere is perfect for bringing as many friends and family as you can. I have never ever had a bad experience at the Roanoke or this Babe's. If you visit Dallas - eat here! If you live in Dallas, and have never been... what's wrong with you??? Pros: Great food, service, environment Cons: Eyes might be bigger than your belly!, the wait more

the BEST chicken! really. im not kidding!!! 8/1/2007

this place serves the BEST chicken strips you have ever tasted. and they serve an entire mound of them to you! not to mention the unlimited sides of mashed potatoes, hot biscuits and veggies. and it BYOB. i take out of town visitors there and they ask to go there when they come back. i would recommend this place to anyone. Pros: everything! from the food to the servce, not to mention great patio. Cons: there is construction around the area right now, but thats temporary. more

Grease can be a friend when it is this delicious...mmm. 11/4/2006

When I think of Texas I think Babe's, 'cause it's so darn finger lickin good. The fried chicken, mash potatoes, corn, biscuits, oh la la, its all about needing to visit your gym an extra hour the next day, but so worth it. If my arteries could handle it I would go every week, but seeing that I want to be around for my two girls Ill have to stick to a once every six month schedule. Pros: Yummy finger lickin' good food. Cons: The fear of a heart attack. more

FUN FUN FUN 9/17/2006

Great for families or big groups. Whenever we have more than 8 people on an outing, I recommend Babe's. The Carrollton location offers a couple more meat options than the original, so everyone can try something since its served family style. Its a great value - about $10 per person, and BYOB. Good fun atmosphere, although it can get loud and difficult to talk to the person across the table. You get a huge serving, plus all you can eat sides of veggies and rolls. Good fun. more
