Disappointing 2/3/2005

Have passed B&O for years while on my way somewhere else. I should have continued to pass it by. Stopped in for breakfast after a long search for parking. I ordered one of my favorites, Eggs Benedict and coffee. The coffee was bitter, but hot and steamy. The Eggs Benedict? Awful. Hollandaise was thick, coagulated and cold. No Canadian bacon, just a thin piece of ham. English muffins weren't even toasted. The potatoes were greasy and cold. Service was s l o w. There are better places than B&O on Capitol Hill. Skip this place 8/21/2004

I made my reservations and was there for their high tea. IT WAS DISAPPOINTING. The price is too high for the quality of food served. The cucumber sandwich is practically drench in dressing & the cucumber is at least 1/2"" thick. It tasted sour instead of fresh. The scones broke into hard crumbs when u hold onto it. The bread loaves are too sweet. The lemon tarts tasted of stale egg yolks! The service is equally bad. There were 4 of us and only 2 sets of tea strainers, butter etc on the table. She told us to share the strainer. But each of us were drinking a different tea! She wasn't there when we needed refill. She put on a look as if she did not want to serve. This is not the place for good food nor the place if u want reasonable service. Cons: , Service, Price more

i can't rave enough about how happy b&o makes me. such delicious desserts (and i am a TOTAL dessert snob) and wonderful bar menu... i'm such a fan! i went as far as to purchase our wedding cake here- and people to this day continue to RAVE about how much they loved it. the best part about that experience is that the quote that they gave, was the price that i paid- no hidden 'delivery fees' or such. b&o has made my ( & several others!) days brighter. The Best Lemon Chiffon Cake 6/7/2004

The B & O is a great place to stop in for brunch, lunch, dinner or anytime. Since the first time I entered that establishment I have been a devoted diner. And the waitstaff is always sure to have a slice of Lemon Chiffon Cake ready for me. In my opinion, they have some of the most delicious cakes I have ever tasted. My favorited thing to do is stop in for lunch and order one of their great quiches and a light salad. That leaves just enough room for a decadent delight! I've tried just about all of their desserts but I always go back to the Lemon Chiffon. It is heaven on a plate. Bite for Bite the B&O gets my highest ratings! Great for dates 8/25/2003

I took my boyfriend to B&O Espresso for his birthday, and we loved it. The service was great, the food was yummy (although maybe a tad overpriced), and the ambience was perfect. We sat at an outside table, lit by tiki torch, and got to do some people watching. The rasberry cheesecake was maybe the best I've ever had, and they poured us each HUGE Grand Marniers for dessert. I would definitley recommend B&O for special occaisions or dates. Pros: service, wine list, creative menu Cons: a little overpriced more

i've been meaning to get here for years now. finally did, last nite, for dessert and a coffee. the atmosphere is lovely, truly enjoyed the outdoor seating, the small cafe tables and the ""patisserie"" mural on the wall. the long-awaited desserts, however, i found overpriced and not so 'to-die-for'. the wine menu looked enticing but we opted for coffee. which was just ok, at best. service was bad. not rude, but spacey, or just forgetful or something. don't know that i'll return soon. Pros: wonderful atmosphere Cons: overpriced, overrated, poor service more

Support local coffeehouses 9/18/2002

A regular staple for late night treats and rich coffees while in college, we save B&O for special occasions. I'd encourage any Seattlite to check out B&O for special occasion catering before going to bigger, impersonal, out-of-town caterers. It's worth the wait. more

I'm a pretty laid back guy, but I've been here twice and waited no less than 10 minutes for the waiter/waitress to even take my order. For a dessert and coffee, plan to spend a minimum of 1/2 hour. The prices are also very high for the quality of desserts, and you don't get very much. I would recommend the desserts on Broadway, much better. Pros: Ambiance Cons: Price, Service, Portions more

I love the food, service and ambience. One of the best dessert in town. Try some of non-dessert dishes. They have some great mediterranean dishes. Absolutely fantastic! more

Patchy in Seattle 5/23/2002

I was introduced to this place by a local. He spoke the world of it, but I think I have had better. The food is mediocre and the service is patchy. I've been there 3 times, and the service ranges from friendly to downright bad. I think Dilettante Chocolates on Capitol Hill is much better. more

I frequently visit this coffee house for my daily much needed coffee... They have the best desserts... If you need a place to hang-out and just study for hours on end, this is the perfect place... Bring your notebook computer, cause there is outlets at every table... Pros: desserts, atmosphere, electrical outlets more

Pies of the Gods 5/20/2002

Give me sour cream lemon pie or give me--oh, give me anything on B&O's dessert menu and I'll be happy. This is a wonderful, comfy hangout for the non-bar-inclined--a stellar place to chat and sip, read, do homework or just get jumping with a caffeine and sugar fix. It's almost impossible to decide between all the fluffy, creamy pies and cakes and fancy coffee drinks. more
