Good: The Dr. was very helpful and seemed to know what he was talking about.. Bad: The billing dept and collections. This hospital only was concerned with getting as much money from my insurance company as possible. After I clearly told them I do not want a test run unless they for sure my insurance covered it. The ran a $5,000 test and told me it would be covered. Guess what it wasn't so their idea of collecting was to sue me. The Dr. Himself told the billing dept they should adjust it. They did not and sent it to court. On top of that they are now trying to get a judgment agains. Improvements: Stop being a greedy medical facility and start acting medical facility that is there to help you community. Do not look at $$ signs walking in the doors look at the patient and do what is best for them. Not what is most profitable for you.. Other: Even though this is a large hospital with a lot pull I would recommend going elsewhere.. more

I spent some time in the hospital The nursing staff is great. But the hospital plays the insurance system. If the hospital claims they accept your insurance, make sure that you ask if their labs accept the insurance. Any physician who just say Hi, ask him/her if S/he accepts your insurance. if not, send him away. It is an organized white collar crime. You can easily owe over $500,000 even if you have an insurance accepted in this hospital. Do not accept any test unless you fully understand it's benefit and why do they do it so frequently. Request clearly that they only provide you with in-network physician and in-network approved services. if this is impossible, make sure you know how much will you be paying for every single step. Be in contact every day with your insurance provider and share with them all procedures/tests done on you daily. more

Had occasion to visit the Hackensack Hospital Emergency room last year. We did not wait at all and the staff was courteous and professional. They explained everything thoroughly and answered all of our questions and notified family members for us. Excellent bedside manner! Since we had come in by ambulance they had offered a free taxi cab voucher to get home but actually called a friend of ours to pick us up. Great service! more
