Super nice coffee shop!
Coffee's okay. Service is slow. Expect to be ignored while the staff make idle small talk.
This small, independent neighborhood coffee joint dates back to the mid-1990s, back when Northeast Minneapolis was just beginning to show shades of its current vogue among local artsy-types and 20-something hipsters. Beyond the requisite free Internet and a solid lineup of coffees and espresso drinks, the place offers a peek into the unique character of the area near 29th and Johnson, which still houses an interesting mix of working-class families and Volvo-wheeling downtowners. Weather permitting, it’s advisable to park yourself at a sidewalk table to enjoy some midday sun and a steady stream of intriguing passersby. Beware: They don’t take plastic, so unless you want to schlep a few blocks to the nearest ATM, be sure to have cash in-hand.
