Great Neurologist! 7/22/2011

Associated Neurology Medical Group, Inc. has been a great group for me to work with. I had been seeing doctors associated with Alta Bate Medical group for years and I received poor care, and was very dissatisfied with the practice as a whole. With that, I experienced no real improvement with my health. Once my insurance changed and I was able to see Dr Collins, I rushed to get into see him and become a patient of his. On a whole I found each doctor in the group to be caring, and very knowledgeable. And as for Dr. Collins, I find him personaly to be an amazing doctor who really knows what he's doing. And his level of information and experiance when it come to Myasthenia Gravis is current and precise - that goes a long way for me as a patient with a chronic illness.\r \r Their a great group of doctors to work with! more

Excellent Neurologist 7/13/2011

I have been seeing Dr.D. Eric Collins for over two years. I have a brain tumor and Dr. Collins handles my seizures and medicine for that.\r \r Dr Collins is one of the best Drs I have ever met. He is thorough, conscientious, focused, and detailed. He relays info on our visits to my other physicians.\r \r Dr Collins takes good care of you.\r \r He is also a nice man.\r \r He is the Dr. that discovered my tumor had grown back, due to his loyalty and concern for his patients, he ran the proper test out of his integrity as a physician.\r \r He is highly recommended by me.\r \r He is the type of Dr. we just don't see anymore. He is kind, and does not rush you.\r \r Minnie is a jewel and does her job very well, and she always gets back to me promptly. more

Minnie and Dr. Collins are both wonderful. 11/30/2008

I read these reviews before meeting Dr. Collins for the first time.\r \r The comments regarding Minnie, who manages the office seamlessly, had prepared me for an unpleasant encounter. I'll admit that I have had instances in the past where doctors' staff acted in a rude manner, as if I was hugely inconveniencing them by simply entering the waiting room.\r \r However, it was the exact opposite from the moment I called to make an appointment and spoke with Minnie directly. She is very friendly, followed up promptly with me regarding additional tests that had been ordered, and with scheduling my follow up with Dr. Collins.\r \r So, I must say to any prospective new patients, who may be considering Dr. Collins' practice... both he and Minnie are very hospitable, conscientious, & detail oriented. They care about helping you to the best of their ability.\r \r Minnie is great! Pros: Great follow-up Cons: Ease of Parking more

Outstanding neurologist 12/3/2007

Dr. Collins is thorough, knowledgeable, competent, and caring. I had serious problems with a deep brain stimulator installed for Parkinson's. Stanford couldn't seem to solve the problems, but Dr. Collins was able to work with me to determine what was wrong and find a way to set it right. I would recommend him unreservedly, especially for someone who needs DBS programming or has Parkinson's. \r \r Another review complained about his receptionist, Minnie. I'm afraid that she is a difficult person to interact with, and more likely to be impatient with you than helpful. Don't let that stop you. There is a warm, compassionate, and very skilled physician once you get past the receptionist. It's worth it, many times over. Pros: Efficient, competent, caring, thorough Cons: Receptionist more

GO WITH THE BEST 10/27/2007

My wife Andrea was referred to Associated Neurology Group in 1993 when Parkinsons was diagnosed and Dr. Eric Collins became her Neurologist. He has worked tirelessly with us now over fourteen years managing this complicated, progressive and till now incurable disease with patience and great skill. We attend Parkinsons support meetings and so have met others with this disease, sharing experiences with medication, exercise, diet and lifestyle changes and have come to realize Andrea is way ahead of the curve in quality of life as the result of Dr. Collins' treatment. He is a pioneer in Deep Brain Stimulation and has mastered the intricate ongoing adjustments necessary to make this therapy work well. Andrea had her first implant in 2001 during clinical trials for DBS in Parkinsons patients, two years before FDA approval and Dr. Collins guided us through the decision process as we weighed risks and potential benefits of this advanced invasive therapy.\r \r I was treated by Dr. Collins' associate Dr. Starkey in 2001 following an ischemic stroke from which I have recovered fully. Dr. Starkey was also thoroughly professional and highly skilled. I find the staff in the Oakland and San Ramon offices competent, friendly and helpful and recommend this office without qualification. Pros: parking in building at Oakland office, adjacent to Summit Hospital Cons: nothing worth mention more

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE 7/25/2007

I was referred to Associated Neurology Medical Group by my primary physician and called to find out if there was any information that I could have sent over or bring with me to the office in preparation for my initial appointment. My intention was to be a prepared, proactive patient.\r \r The receptionist, a male named ""Minnie"", was possibly the rudest person I have ever spoken with! He was extremeley condescending and not helpful whatsoever. He treated me with contempt because I was not yet a patient and told me that he refused to give out the offices fax number because he didn't want patients sending over records that he ""didn't want and didn't need"". He raised his voice and did not exhibit an ounce of professionalism. He cut me off in the middle of my questions and finally I was hung up on him because he wouldn't let up.\r \r Seriously? I cannot believe that they allow a person like this to be their front-line in receiving existing and potential patients. If this is indicitive of the office atmosphere, I am glad I found out now! \r \r I do NOT plan on receiving care here and recommend that people stay as far away as possible from this office!\r Pros: Never had the chance, and now, never will Cons: horrible, rude and condescending office staff more
