We went here on a Saturday with an 8pm reservation and had to wait over an hour until we were seated. The host was incredibly rude rather than apologetic. Once we were seated it t...

I give it 2 thumbs up... 11/27/2002

I found the food to be delicious, the service impeccible and the view AMAZING! I would recommend this for dates, group dinners, pretty much anything. If it's a warm night, definitely sit outside and enjoy the atmosphere. more

not worth it! 11/11/2002

My boyfriend and I had dinner here last Saturday night. For the money spent, we were disappointed. The lobster potstckers were pretty good, but at $28 they should be more than pretty good. The beef satay was cold. - oh, not to mention that both appetizers came out about 5 minutes after we ordered. It was like a fancy TGI Friday's - very evident that they're trying to pack as many seatings into the night as they possibly can. The chicken entree was just chicken, nothing extraordinary. And the worst - this made us laugh - was the dessert - talk about TGI Friday's - it was a disgustingly large piece of not-very-good cake. All this said, the waitstaff was kind and attentive. But if I were you, I'd take your money (and I'm talking LOTS of money) elsewhere. Pros: good waitstaff, good wine Cons: overpriced, too quick, decent food more

Delish and so pretty! 11/7/2002

I've been to almost all of the Ian Schrager hotels in the US, but I loved the view here over LA the best. The wonderful food at AdC was another reason to love this place. I've been to AdC in NYC several times and the LA branch is much better. The setting, the outdoor area, the view and the food all rock (even though the decor has gotten trite and predicable). There were some delicious specials the night we dined here, but their regular menu is impressive in itself. I am still awed by how wonderful the combination of ingredients and ethnic touches are put together by this chef. Lastly, the almost-empty Skybar (until after 10p) can be the perfect ""private rooftop cocktail place"" for you and your friend pre- or post- dinner. Lovely! more

Asia de ""B"" Rating 9/17/2002

Asia De Cuba on Sunset has run down a bit. I went last weekend and was surprised to see a mediocre menu, only one special offered and the biggest surprise - a ""B"" Rating from the CA Dep. of health. If I'm spending $100+ for two, the kitchen better be clean!!!! more

interesting... 8/1/2002

beautiful ambiance whether you're out with a large group of people or out for some romance. You must have adventuresome tastebuds, but that's all the fun!! It has almost a surreal environment. Very friendly, helpful waitstaff. I'd definately go back! Pros: good price, beautiful setting Cons: crowded, only valet parking more

I'd eat here everyday! 7/31/2002

Asia de Cuba is one of the best restaurants that I've ever been to. Everything in their menu is great but especially I love their calamary salad! It's got fruits, veggies, and all kinds of stuff in it. I'm usually not a big fan of fusion food, but this place is worth a try. Pros: great food, great atmosphere, great location Cons: expensive more

Nice atmosphere. Everything on the menu is great. You have to have the coconut sticky rice. Pros: Excellent Food, Beautiful Atmos., Good Drinks Cons: Parking, Too Crowded, Expensive more

Out of this world! 7/10/2002

From the ambience of the outdoor patio located next to one of LA's hottest nightspots, the Sky Bar to the exquisite food, we had a wonderful time at Asia de Cuba. The service was ranked with some of the best service I have ever had dining out! We ordered the Ahi, Cuban Chicken and the Tenderloin. Everything was quite tasty and the presentation was very lovely. The tenderloin was cooked a bit more than I thought medium should have been, but I was sharing with girls who were perfectly fine. I loved everything about this place! Atmosphere, food, the scene, and everyone who worked there! I'm looking forward to going to the one that is opening up soon in Denver. more

Great Food; Great Atomosphere 6/18/2002

Besides the wonderfully clean feel of the restaurant and the great views from outside, the food here is outstanding. The Tunapico appetizer is simply amazing and the Lobster Mashed Potatoes are a must. No need to order a lot. The servings are huge and meant to be shared. more

Love that tuna! 6/10/2002

This place has great food. Period. I would recommend the tunapica appetizer, and the ostrich (although they may have taken that off the menu). The lobster mash potatoes are awesome. The scenery is always interesting, as well. Expect to spend a pretty penny, however. Pros: great people watching Cons: expensive parking more

LA Chic 6/4/2002

When dining here feels like you are in a Hollywood movie or a magazine shoot for GQ. Great lighting and ambience, even though it's loud a good spot for a group or romantic outing. Food is excellent with great variety, very lively experience, if you are visiting from out of town the quintessential LA experience. Make sure to go to the Skybar to cap off the evening and star-watch. Pros: Location, Lively, Food more

Bring Your Attitude! 6/2/2002

Once you get past the hostess's attitude, Asia de Cuba is entertaining and the food is fantastic. Although a tad bit pricey, its a definite must if you have folks visiting from out of town.cause it has just enough of the Hollywood flare that makes LA, LA! Pros: Wait staff Cons: Hostess more

Best Restaurant in West Hollywood 5/24/2002

We've been to Asia de Cuba 3 times and always enjoy it! The food is fantastic and the ambiance is fun and entertaining. It is quintissential Hollywood and great for people watching. After dinner, head over to the Sky Bar or House of Blues to get your groove on. Pros: Great Eye Candy, Seeing Celebrities Cons: Expensive more

This is LA 5/20/2002

I've been here 3 times and I've always had good food and good service. The menu is pricey but worth it. Come prepared to spend. Get there early and have a drink at the bar. Make sure to request a table outside so you can enjoy the view. more

Don't miss it! 5/19/2002

If you really want to impress your friends, family and taste buds, take them to Asia de Cuba. The Lobster Mashed Potatoes alone are well worth the trek onto Sunset. Although the menu is a bit pricey, the portions are enormous and they'll encourage you to order a few and split them among your party making things much more affordable. They've updated the menu but the Tunapica appetizer and the Cuban styled chicken entree will leave you more than satisfied and happy to have a bag of leftovers for tomorrow's lunch. Sit outside for one of the best views of LA and a relaxing atmosphere. more

  • The restaurant at the uber-sleek Mondrian hotel is a white-on-white fantasia packed with expense accounters, hotel guests and pretty people on dates. Philippe Starck cuckoo clocks line the stark walls, while hundreds of tiny lights create a warm, romantic glow. The patio, with its surreal giant clay pots, ficus trees and panoramic views, is one of the loveliest dining spaces in town. Caribbean-Latino-Asian dishes are served family-style. Crab croquettas are a lighter spin on crab cakes, giant Asian pesto grilled shrimp with wok-charred coconut-pineapple is flavorful and the pan-seared ahi is a favorite with its mashed potatos topped with crunchy wasabi peas. Desserts are elaborate architectural concoctions that don't sacrifice flavor for height: The Bay of Pigs banana split is a humongous tower of chocolate, coconut, ice cream and yes, more than a few calories.
