Always In My Heart <3 9/18/2011

If your looking for fun, long lasting friendships, and an awesome place to ride go there. I started out at Ashleywood's Equestrian Center 10 years ago. I made more long lasting friends there than I have in school. Plus, now because of Ann's wonderful instruction and the fun saturday and monday ""Saddle Clubs"" I improved so much I work other people's horses now. I am such a good rider I take firsts consistantly. Both on my Paso Fino and my 24 year old arabian mare that was beloved by many of the AshleyWood's people. In the six years my arabian lived there, not ONCE did she colic, NOT once was she malnourished, NOT once did she ever reiceve any kind of mistreatment. I would still be there if my dad didn't get a job in texas and we had to move. But the trails are awesome, they have a pond to swim in with your horses. The horse shows are ALWAYS fun! Because they have an awesome, fun show team. Not only that but the barn is CLEAN. And I mean, seriously. It's clean. I really miss my pals at Ashleywoods. And I can't wait for a trip to come see them! So I better see tons of new faces. (: more

i also agree its the best 6/22/2011

I also would agree with some of these reviews that this is a first class ridding facility. I have been riding & taking lessons here for 9 1/2 years now & have never thought about leaving. The staff & especially the Hadley family are polite & very considerate of you & your horse. Though i have never owned a horse or boarded there your horse is always taken care of no matter what. Not one horse has every been neglected @ all horses are ALWAYS treated w/ kindness & respect. The horses there in general r of the finest quality so if u do plan on taking lessons you will b riding some of the finer horses. The lesson programs are very well educated & you advance @ your own pace. I have learned so much about horses from body language 2 ridding in my years there & the reviews that state that ann doesn't like it when u beat her kids is very false. I have beaten her kids & even her before & i was congratulated by her & her kids. I am even friends w/ all of her kids. Actually in august last year i took the pleasure jackpot class @ the harris forest preserve gaited class. I have been one of her longest continues students & plan 2 stay that way. I can say that ann is one of the best trainers & owners around because she actually gets 2 know you & finds the best ways 2 help you learn! She also really helps you build a strong bond w/ your horse so that you can get the most out of them. This has been the best riding facility that i have gone 2 so i can tell ya all of these negative comments are not reliable so if you really want 2 c i would go check it out yourself cus i can almost guarantee you will wanna stay more

Been there done that! 6/14/2011

I read through the reviews I totally understood everyone's feelings, like I said - Been there done that! I also did not feel that my horse was getting the best of care, so I left. No need to make a big deal out of it - if you are not happy with the care your horse is receiving, or the quality of the lessons Ann gives, then leave. Do not pass go, do not look back - just leave. Everyone that wrote a review is entitled to their opinoins and even though many of them were very harsh what I felt was even worst was Ann's sniping back at what was obviously a child voicing her opinoin. Ann stooped to the level of a 3rd grader and did name calling and additional back stabbing. If I were looking into having lessons for a child of mine her response to one of the reviews would definitely turn me off. Whether the review was true or not does not even come into play - Ann's response was totally unprofessional and should never have happened. If these are the types of attitudes young minds at her farm are subjected to than all parents should reconsider any thoughts of having thier son or daughter receiving lessons at this facility. If your child is already there - MOVE. more

The Best Riding 4/1/2011

AShleyWoods Equestrian Center is the best place to take lessons, Show, Train your horse, camps, tral rides. I been there for Five years, before that i been to other place and i didn't learn hardly anything until AshleyyWoods. Now I'm a border at AshelyWoods for Three Years own two great horses. I also had shown with AshleyWoods just started last year. Everyone at AshleyWoods has been so nice and so has Ann. AshelyWoods has the most amzing trails i ever been on. By the way don't listen to those stupid non truth lairs that has said AshleyWoods is bad. Whoever said that must be out of their mind saying that. AshelyWoods has so much potential. If u r looking for a place to boarder, lesson, training your horse this the place to be. more

great barn 12/6/2010

The above reviews are ridiculous! My daughter rides here and has for the last year and has made amazing progress and continues to excell weekly. Ann is easy to get along with and informative in what she is teaching. My daughter has shown and placed every time while having a GREAT time!!\r Reviews are suppose to be informative not bashing a business because a client left on bad terms. There are two sides to every story and that should always be kept in mind when reading reviews. \r And for the comment of Ann not teaching because she does not want any one to beat her children in a show is a lie. My daughter has beat her children in a show and Ann and her children were thrilled at how well my daughter showed. And Ann and her children continue to treat everyone in our family with respect! more

First-Class Facitlity 12/2/2010

Ashleywoods is a professional riding facility. Offering boarding , lessons, training, Parties and ,quality horses for sale. Featuring a very well experienced staff. hate it 11/17/2010

i hate this barn i still go here but i really want to leave. however i am scared to because the owner is threatening me. she wrote those good reviews just because she did not want people to think her barn is bad even though it really is. no one here is nice and the owner has been promising to take me to shows for a long time but she never has because she doesn't want competition for her kids. i just wish i could leave but im so scared because i know she will say mean stuff about me just like she does about everyone else that leaves. :( more

Wouldn't recommend to my worst enemy, even. 11/17/2010

I honestly wouldn't recommend this place, even to my worst enemy. For boarders: Only the owner's horses get fresh hay which she keeps in the arena. Boarder's horses get wet hay that is kept outside. No daily turnout - this can lead to problems such as arthritis and respiratory problems. The only horses that gets turned out are the owner's prized horses for when she wants to take pictures to try and fake people out into thinking her barn is great. The automatic water dispensers are rusty and flaking. Do you want your horse drinking rust? For lessons - She's ALWAYS late. Then most of the time she rides with you, with her horse still in training, so you don't know what to do while she canters around beating her horse. She doesn't teach you anything anyways. After I left this barn, I have learned soo much already. I saw videos of myself riding when I was still there and I CAN'T believe I looked like that. And I have screen shots of the owner of this barn fighting with a 16 year old on facebook, as well as the owner impersonating someone who left her barn. Also, in one of the pictures uploaded by the owner (a picture of a kid standing on a horse's back) she should NOT have let him do that. First of all, he is wearing shoes and isn't standing on the saddle, he is standing on the horse's hips. To a human, that would be like you standing on all 4's and having someone stand on your tail bone in high heels. Not fun! I guess if you like drama, skinny horses, not riding good, and being verbally abused after you leave, this is the place for you! more

Paso Fino Passion 11/14/2010

The atmosphere at Ashleywoods is that of an efficiently run enterprise while still having the charm and warmth of a ""local spot"". \r \r What you'll notice first are the immaculate grounds. Next you'll see how well maintained the horses themselves are. The tack room is filled with state of the art equipment, as well as a wide array of gear for students to borrow if they happen to forget their gloves or a crop. But what makes this stable exceptional has to be the owner and staff.\r \r From my point of view, the horses are beautiful, well cared for, and well equipped. The horses there are known not only by their breed and performance levels, but their histories and personalities.\r \r The staff is friendly and helpful. The guys working in the stables are also fabulous and always willing to help out. I always receive a personal welcome by name each time I come. \r \r more

Drama barn 11/6/2010

This rating system is baised on honesty. And we all have the right to be heard weather others like it or not. The truth is i know this barn very well i know many things others dont know about this barn. i use to love ashleywoods it was where i first ever rode a horse on my own. At first i loved the barn owner and her staff. I thought one of her kids was a huge show off and could not stand the saddle clubs where her kids where in them. They didnt care about others safety or what the others where working on. Barn owner of Ashleywoods didnt either this women didnt teach anything except basic comon sence, sometimes she would teach amazing leasons. But dont count on it being a usual leason. This barn owner is never on time. She has children teaching leasons so she dosent have to. In My opinion she didnt teach anybody anything but basics because what happends when a couple of student beat her kids at shows? how does that look for her? Most barns take showing as competative but they have fun doing it they know its not all about winning. With this barn thats all she really wants, is to win. The drama there is totally insane and the barn owner dosent talk to many adaults only children. Ashleywoods owner actually eggs kids on to tare eachother down and start roomers. This barn is full of hatred and drama towards eachother. they trash talk you when you leave and they trash talk quality in horses. how dare somebody trash talk such gorgeous animals. this barn owner is a child deep down inside crying for help she dosent know where to turn. Whats gunna happend when everybody knows this barns secrets? ill tell you, the neglect for these horses will finally be gone. i wish good luck to everybody trying to leave more

VERY BAD! 11/3/2010

LOOK AT THE HORSE IN THE PICTURE, she is my best friends horse, and was at ashleywoods for over 2 years, and ann( the owner of the barn) said that she was perfect weight! you can see all her bones!I honestly hate to say this about ANY equestrain center! but, i was there for about 4 years (the only reason i stayed was because i couldnt find anywhere else to ride by my house) and it was the worst desision i have ever made! the owner/ trainer of the barn, cannot teach at all! and she lets her kids run around like crazy during lessons, AND she rides her horses while your in a lesson! and most of the time, her horse was VERY young and it was acting up the whole time, so ann (the trainer) wouldnt even pay attention to you, she was ALWAYS late. and charged us WAY to much for lessons, when she tought us NOTHING. the horses NEVER go outside, thier food, and water is very un-healthy, and she runs out of bedding almost every month. she is money-hungry, and ONLY cares about money. she brainwashes people into beliving things.. please, do not go here. the drama is crazy! and the owner talks badly about people who left to her other lesson kids! drama drama drama! more

HORRIBLE. 10/25/2010

Seriously, I HATE this place. It doesn't even deserve one star!! I wish I could tell the world to NOT go here, because it sucks. They don't care at all for their horses. You will look into a stall and see wet bedding everywhere and numerous piles of waste. They feed the horses damp hay, too, and the water bowls are rusty and have loose bits of rust floating around. It also contains clumps of hay and sometimes little bugs. (Once I found a maggot in one of the horses' water bowls, NOT KIDDING.) Also, the instructor really doesn't know what she's talking about. She ""teaches"" you in a lesson that you waste your money on and then you see other people riding and realize you suck. She never explains anything to you, she just assumes you automatically know what she's talking about. She is a horrible instructor! You will not learn anything! She usually rides with you which sucks because then she can't help you (not that she does anyways). She just lets you do whatever you want. She won't teach you the proper way to canter, or jump, or anything else, she'll just say, okay, GO! and you do what you want. Plus, she's NEVER on time for lessons, so don't worry if your 30 minutes late for you lesson. She won't be there anyways. Also, the instructors daughter and her friends are RUDE!!! They only care about themselves and act like they own the place. Not to mention this barn is filled with drama. You can never just come out and have a peaceful ride because someone will try and start stuff with you. And if you leave the barn, the owner talks bad stuff about you. Overall, you should NOT go to this place!! I'm begging you, find a barn that takes better care of their horses! There's a few barns in the area that are 100 times better!!! I wish I could rate this barn negative five stars!!! more

Pretty good 9/30/2010

Not bad, actually, the barn was nice, even though the horses don't go outside. The trainer has taught me alot though, and took me to shows. more
