Perfect experience for a first timer! 10/19/2008

I had not dyed my hair in 4 years, and I was absolutely terrified of getting it done. Thanks to some greys it was time. I was referred to a fancy schmancy place in Newport, and my worst nightmares came true. The natural golden brown I asked for turned into a streaky, bleached uneven (and very expensive) mess. Of course I was horrifed and didnt know what to do. Came onto trusty citysearch and took a chance on Artistic hair based on the great reviews. I was assigned to CHRISTY and she called promptly to discuss with me in detail what I wanted, what the problem was, etc. She even let me email her my before and after photos and pictures of what I was looking to acheive. Totally went the extra mile for me. The salon itself is very unassuming on the outside, but once inside it really does have a friendly atmosphere, and its been busy both times I was there. (These girls are good!) I also had my hair cut by Nicole for their breast cancer fundraiser, who was also sweet as could be and gave me a fantastic cut. Once again, exactly what I asked for, how refreshing! Well not only was Christy so sweet and understanding, but gave me the prettiest highlights Ive ever had (Nicole actually commented on how nice they were before she even knew I had them done at her salon by Christy) I actually cant wait to go back for my touch up! I am officially a new fan, and it would seem with all the good reviews you cant go wrong here. Pros: Amazing color, reasonable prices, friendly staff Cons: None whatsoever more

Lots of compliments! 9/12/2008

Sensational! I saw Barbara for my color correction and cut and was very, very pleased with the work she did. Barbara is a perfectionist when it comes to hair. After I left the salon I received numerous compliments on my new cut and color. :) I am definitely going back again. Thanks Barbara! more

I started having my hair done at Artistic Hair 2 years ago, and it's the best salon ever! Barbara always does what's best for your hair, so my hair is now more healthy-looking than ever. Quality care, Honest services, friendly for men and women 8/29/2008

I've been going to this shop for a number of years now and there is a family atmosphere here. Many of the stylists have been there for a long time and share their expertise with each other. What I really like is that they're honest about what will work for each head of hair. My stylist, Nicole is kind, but truthful if a certain cut that I show her will not look good on me for whatever reasons. I've come to trust her expertise on what will damage my hair because she is continually updating her training on color changes & trends. Scheduling appointments has always been easy and I can plan two appointments ahead if I like.\r \r Men will find it a comfortable environment, there conversation, but not crazy gossip. I've seen cuts that range from current trends to classic looks. \r \r The salon is roomy and never too cold or hot. Stations are in two lines in front of a wall length mirror, so you can check your cut from every angle. The parking lot is small, but I've always found a space. It's located next to a traffic signal which is important when trying to get back on to a busy street like Chapman.\r \r There's a nail tech on days and a makeup line is sold there too.\r The salon is big on Redken products, which were not my favorite a few years ago, but every product my stylist has used works well with my hair. She also varies the products used on each cut so I can see what I like or don't like about the latest things without having to buy a giant bottle.\r \r This salon has a personal interest in giving back and each year they have a Cut for the Cure with a giant raffle. It's a fun event and proceeds go toward cancer research. Pros: Educated Stylists, comfortable for men and women, easy access, good hours Cons: smaller parking lot more

Extremely Knowledgeable! 8/15/2008

I was a walk in with an emergency color correction! Barbara the owner got me in immediately and was fantastic. The whole staff was so knowledgeable and friendly...I left looking and feeling amazing...I will never trust anyone else with my hair again! more

Tracy is the best choice 8/2/2008

After looking on City Search, I decided to make an appointment with Tracy. I was very nervous because I am very picky about my hair. Tracy has done my hair 3 times now and I love her. She is very patient and makes excellent suggestions. She takes her time listening to what you want. I highly recommend this salon and of course Tracy. Thank you Tracy! more

Cherie you made me love my hair again!!! 7/23/2008

I have baby-fine, thin hair, and it's not easy to work with - but since you've been doing my hair my hat collection stays on the back of the door and not on my head! I look professional at my new job, and my wonderful husband says I look younger! And you only thought you'd hear that on an infomercial HA! It takes no time at all to do my hair in the morning, no more throwing the brush in frustration. And the color, you can't tell when it's growing out. Thank you for making me feel beautiful again!! We Love our hair! thanks cherie!! 7/19/2008

My boyfriend and I both recieved treatments from cherie. He got a scalp treatment and he loved it...he loved the way it tingled and felt very relaxing for him...and his scalp is 10 times better already. For me i recieved a conditioning treatment and she fixed my color...my hair is sooo soft and looks great...i dont remember the last time my hair felt so good and healthy...i love it!...thank you so much cherie!! more
