Arlington Animal hospital is wonderful but expensive. I no longer use Arlington Animal hospital and use a traveling vet instead and have never looked back in 5yrs. The prices are so much cheaper. more

Dis-satisfied Customer 12/15/2011

Don't go here! The DR's are knowledgeable, although they rob you blind. Office fee's, medication fee's and boarding fee's almost double of almost all other Vets that I have contacted. You certainly better have insurance or a large bank account. If they could charge you for calling them, they would.\r \r Will never return to them and do not recommend them to anyone. more

Horrible service!!! 6/18/2011

Practice is great?.Grooming is another thing?too expensive, bad customer service. Receptionist always has an attitude - very unprofessional?never again taking my dog for grooming there?I rate it zero stars!!! more

way too expensive 4/25/2011

I used to bring my animals here up untill they decided to try to charge me 200.00 per male cat to be fixed.... and if we went with "pre testing" it would have been an extra 80.00 .... The vets here are wonderful ... not for the price ... more

Dr. Standnes is wonderful 1/27/2011

I have switched to Arlington animal hospital. So far I have had excellent experiences for their immediate attention to emergencies and 2 excellent thorough routine exams by Dr. Standnes. I have found this office to be compassionate, detail oriented and genuinely there for your furry family member. If you have a credit line you can pay through that. I have found that quite helpful. more

A great veterinary experience 1/13/2011

we are a small not for profit shelter/sanctuary and feel that this veterinary hospital is absolutely awsome. The two doctors we have had for several of the dogs in our shelter have been brilliant, empathetic, and professional. Their fees are more than fair and they have been more than thorough in their exams. Their diagnositc skills are above average and the office manager and staff are wonderful. I do not understand how anyone can say they over charge!!!!!!\r The person who said that needs to go to my old vet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! more

Unhappy 7/29/2010

I agree with the person about overcharging and scheduling way too may tests. They hold the pets medication as hostage until you get the blood work done and sometimes insists it may be done a couple of times a year at great expense. Schedule checkup the doctor does almost nothing and still changes a lot. \r This has changed over the last couple of years. Use to be a great place. more

I've been with Arlington Animal Hospital for many years out of convenience of locality BUT they are just too expensive to continue to go to. I feel that they "over-test" to get additional money. Although I think Dr. Standes and Dr. Redden are very good, the fact that I have to pay "extremely" high cost per visit (even for a follow up). \r A good vet is a vet that is also an excellent diagnostitian. I believe what could've been diagnosed in one visit is often stretched out into several visits for the $$$$. Unnecessary testing for the $$$$. I've taken my business to another local vet that is excellent "read my review about Dr. Diana Cannan of Dutchess County Animal Hospital more

My Cat was traumatized also.... 4/15/2009

I have to agree in some respects with the reviewer below. I was also fairly new to the area and brought my cat to Arlington for an ear infection. I found the front office staff to be a bit unprofessional and I had to wait 45 minutes till we were allowed in an examining room. The doctor was very nice, but my cat was a bit scared when the doctor was examining her. He called in a vet tech and they forcibly HELD my cat down which made her frantic and scream. I was very concerned as my cat is old and she was so upset that I didn't know if she would survive this. She did not come out of the corner at home for 3 days. I have since taken her to two other vets who were able to examine her thoroughly without incident and kept her calm.\r Add to this experience the fact that they are very expensive, and I must refuse to recommend Arlington Hospital. more

Don't bring your cat here to be groomed! 3/13/2009

I have had my cat for 6 years. She is a long haired cat and gets mats that need to be cut out and I have had her groomed before and never had a problem. I was new to the area and I called and was told that they have a professional groomer on staff. I brought the cat in and the staff was very cold and uninterested. They were busy talking to each other and laughing and I guess they didn't want to be bothered. They insisted that before she could be groomed, she must be given all of her shots. They took the cat and told me to pick her up in a few hours. I called a few hours later and was told she wasn't ready yet. When I went to pick up the cat she was half groomed, with cuts and nicks all over. She was traumatized, sitting in the corner of her crate and not moving. I asked what happened and they said she was wild and wouldn't let them groom her. She HAD been groomed 3 x before by different groomers and they all said how sweet and docile she was. I paid the bill and took her home more

Ask for Dr. Standnes 7/21/2008

My dog has been a client of the Arlington Animal Hospital for 6 years, and we have been very pleased with the vets and their assistants. Of particular note is Dr. Standnes, who is very skilled, caring, thorough, intelligent, and very trustworthy. more

Dr. Standnes 2/19/2008

The only vet that I have ever encountered that actually greets my dog before he greets me...fantastic. I wouldn't think of going anywhere else, from the ladies at the front desk to seeing the doctor for my appointment...smooth. I recommend this hospital to everyone. more

the best vet in the area works there 2/15/2008

I'm absolutely happy for my 4 dogs that they have their doctor here. His name is Dr. Standnes - and he is the BEST!!!\r I dealt with a lot of different vets in USA and other countries and there is nobody better then Dr. Standnes. more

kennel 1/25/2008

Experience was awful.\r Did not meet expectations.\r Would never recommend them.\r My dog came back hungry, dehydrated, disoreinted, not himself, lacerations on his nose. The dog appeared as if he got no attention by humans whatsoever.\r The bill was made out to somebody else.\r We had to pay for a microchip insertion, but according to my own vet there is no microchip.\r Legal action pending.\r This is the agency that the Animal Warden of Poughkeepsie uses. more

Arlington Animal Hospital 1/5/2008

Last week I was fortunate enough to go to Arlington Animal Hospital when my lab had fallen ill. Sadly it was his time to go but I would like to convey how sympathetic all of the staff was. I was immediately taken care of and wasn't left to sit and cry in the waiting room, for that I will always be grateful. I was able top say goodbye in private and wasn't made to feel rushed or that I was a burden. I would recommend this animal hospital to anyone I know. more

Good to go to. 11/7/2006

Dr. Standnes, an Australian vet doc, is one of the best I have ever had the pleasure to meet. He is thorough and knowledgeable, polite and caring. This vet clinic is on the high side of expense, but then again, no one works for free. The only reason I continue to go there is because of Dr. Standnes. He has been much more thorough at finding the cause of my dog's ailment then other vets I have been to. He takes time to explain if you're willing to listen. PROS: Thorough diagnostic investigation of difficult problems. CONS: Rather expensive, especially lab and meds. more

I dont recomend Arlinghton Animal Hospital 11/1/2006

People at this Animal Hospital do not know how to run a business. I was very unhappy with them and i wouldnt recommend them to anyone if you know whats best for your animals safety. My dog was there to get her vaccinations back in 2002 as a first time patient it was expected that a puppy could have some reaction. She was a 4 pound puppy at the time and she was given 3 vaccinations at once and her rear legs swell up. We go back in 2006 for the follow up on vaccinations and while taking her in the girls that worked the front desk were very unproffesional. Even though my boyfriend reminded them that she shouldnt be given 3 vaccins at once they proceeded on being sarcastic to him saying its all in the system not to worry without even checking there computers to make sure it was written down for the dogs safety. After she was given a vaccination she procceeded having a huge lump the size of a golf ball on her back. Long story short the proceeded giving me a hard time with getting her record more

Easy to get an appointment 10/12/2005

I would recommend going to this veterinarian hospital. They are very good at getting you in for emergencies and also good at sending you reminders when appointments need to be made for your pet. They are all very nice there and the dr. is very thorough. I would suggest buying what you need at an outside pet store since I think the prices are high when you purchase them there. PROS: Easy to get an appointment CONS: Prices for extras, medicine, food, etc are high more
