I found my experience at Applewood to exceed my expectations. You never know what to think coming into a new grooming facility. Especially in a new area (new to me) with a top ranking show dog. The groomer not only followed my suggestions, he (Edwin) provided some tips for supplements and products that I could try on my own to enhance my dog's performance and appearance. more

What a wonderful resort for my 2 little dogs. I moved to Arizona not long ago and have been to many dog kennels but this is 5 star all the way!!! The grounds are beautiful the resort never smells and the staff are happy you are there. I have been 3 times since I moved here and each time my dogs are very happy to be going. They love the peanut butter kong and the outings out in the big grass yard. I have them groomed every time and they have never looked better. I recommend this pet resort believe me it is the BEST!! more

I also wanted to chime in, I have been taking my dogs to Applewood to be groomed and boarded for years. Edwin has been grooming dogs for a long time, and I have been thrilled. My dogs are always happy to go in and happy when I pick up. I spend part of this hot, hot Arizona summer up north and drive down here to have my dog groomed, because I cannot find anyone who does anything close to the job Edwin has done on my dogs. He is the is the only one I found that understands the hand stripping process, and time involved. Hand stripping (in my opinion) is a dying art, and it had been impossible to find anyone that does it correctly. Edwin has always handled them with the utmost care to make their grooming a positive one. I also board my dogs there and have been very pleased, I love that they can go out in huge real grass play yards for play times, they love it!! Also the staff has always been great, they know my dogs by name, and they barrel in the door to get their belly rubs. more

I must comment after reading some of the reviews!!! My dogs love Applewood. They wag and bark when they arrive and tell me about it when I take them home. I have found reception to be very nice and always there to help me with the dog supplies. I love the grooming shop - all my dogs look and smell great. The dogs would tell me if something was not right by tail down and not wanting to come inside the resort. I know many customers in my area that love Applewood and will not go back to other kennels. I have never had any problem with any of my dogs and I have been going there for over 5 years. more

This place sucks. The front desk staff is snotty, arrogant, and stupid -- a great combination. The groomer, Edwin, is very well known to be ""unkind"" or cruel to dogs he is grooming -- and I have personally seen him be very rough and hurtful while grooming a dog. If you want some one to take good care of your beloved family member, do NOT go the Applewood. more

We had always heard good things about Applewood and the location is very close to us so we left our 3lb Maltese while we went on vacation for a week. I called daily to ask them if he was eating okay and they always said yes that he was fine. When we came to pick him up, he was near death. We took him to the Emergency Pet Clinic because our vet was closed and they put him on IV's and said it wasn't the first time they had pets from there in the same situation. I write this because it is vacation time and I don't want other loving pet owners to go through the pain that we did with our little baby. The other irritating thing is that when we tried to talk to Applewood about this, they never returned our calls or answered our emails or letters. We are fortunate our little guy survived but we will never trust any pet with Applewood again! Pros: The location is good for us which I why we used them Cons: Not reliable more

I work long hours and I love the fact that Applewood is there on the way to work and ready to whisk my dogs from me. The front reception employees are there to help - I feel they understand that I am in a hurry every AM. My dogs would spend all day making a big mess if I didn't have daycare. The dogs love Applewood Day Care and so do I. Pros: hours Cons: $ more

We have two large dogs that really need to get out and exercise. Applewood does offer that opportunity for them to run in a big grass area not just the cement dog area. The front desk is very friendly and helps me when I come in with my sometimes very excited kids. They also offer peanut butter kong toys to keep the boys busy when inside. I am very happy with everything about this pet resort and plan on using them again. Pros: Big yards - clean - doesn't smell more

Applewood is OK on the surface. There is a check-in staff member who is not at all friendly, rude and seems to only care about how many ""extra"" services she can sign your pets up for and boy does she love to enforce all of the rules they have. They close at 3pm on Sunday's, I am sure this is done to increase their night stays and fees as so many people are late returning to town when a flight is late. They also nickle and dime you for everything. They do not take any of the pets out to potty after 6pm unless you pay extra fees for it. Pets cannot go to an outside kennel at all to potty when they need too. If you want your pets played with or any attention paid to them, there are extra fees.....these can add up quickly on top of their daily boarding fees. This place is NOT a ""resort"" it is a boarding facility only where your pet is placed in a box, given water and fed. Would suggest other places where they interact more with your pet than Applewood does. They have no web cams so you can checkup on your pet, I don't think they want you looking at their operations on the web. Pros: Good location Cons: Staff not friendly, too many ""extra"" fees, pets have to adapt to their schedule and rules more

I have been coming to Appelwood for years. And I love seeing famliar faces. So it was so nice seeing that MIRANDA IS BACK!!!!. Its nice that everyone remembers your name, and they all seem happy when you walk in the door. My dogs love it to. There is another girl that takes your pets and she is GREAT!!! I think that every dog loves her because my seem to.. They cant wait to get in the door just to see Monica. I mean really when i turn on to Lincoln my dogs start going nuts. This place is GREAT i cant imagine going anywhere else they treat your pets like thier own. Pros: Everyone remembers you, pet lovers more

My experience at Applewood Pet Resort was 5 star!! The staff truly cares and you see it from the moment you check in. At check in I was extremely nervous and the staff did a great job calming me and explaining the exact routine for the pets. We scheduled the works. I have 2 dogs and a cat and they came home with no problems what so ever. The grass play yards are incredible. Pros: The Dogs can go outside and night time potty breaks more

The once friendly atmosphere now seems very hectic, and in genuine. I remember a time when I would be greeted by name -sometimes at the door with help into the facility with my over-anxious brood of pets, not a chance now! The lack of service this last time unfortunately went beyond the counter, my dogs were scheduled for several activities while staying (as usual), and when I came to pick them up, my bill was much lower than anticipated(something you don't typically complain about *lol*), and when I questioned this, I found out that they did not get ANY of the yard time I had requested, (and yard time DOES NOT come AT ALL unless scheduled and paid for), nor did they get their treats, and potty walks, --talk about a guilty feeling mom! At least I could take them home and love and cuddle them to make up for it- well cuddle was out of the question, as they were in dire need of baths, which I was told that I also did not schedule, (although I remember having the discussion when I dropped them off, and requesting an oatmeal shampoo for my oldest dog who has itchy skin) Well to say the least, my pups were happy to see me! I was also told my pets' 'Report Card"" indicated that they did ""Great"", --but great at what? With no playing, what does that mean exactly? They didn't fight? I asked, but they all must have thought I was being sarcastic, since nobody answered. I am sure they could tell I was a bit unhappy. Over all I was just really disappointed, mostly because I have been an Applewood client for years, and my routine of activities is standard, and EVERYONE failed to recognize that my babies got nothing this time, couldn't someone have called me to verify this big mistake?. Pros: large nice yard space Cons: less than great service, pets might not get what you ask for. more

This place is wonderful. My dogs love to go here -- they pull me to the front door when we arrive. The staff is friendly and kind and they clearly love their jobs! Pros: Excellent care in a beautiful setting. Friendly & efficient staff. Reasonable prices -- which I didn't really expect! more
