A life Changing Vet! 1/17/2012

As a new client, I went into the Animal Medical Center in Traverse City with a list of concerns and questions for our new vet. Our 7 year old dog has a thick file from our previous vet. We love him dearly but he has some major health issues. I was greeted by smiling faces that not only made me feel better but the staff made an extra effort to make my dog feel more at ease. The carpet in their lobby was a great change since my dog was in pain, and he didn't have to struggle with slippery tile--like at our old vet. I was ushered into an exam room by Dr. Thomas Mertaugh and he wholeheartedly took down my dog's long medical history. He explained his point of view and instantly I trusted his advice. I left my baby with him and his staff for a few hours so they could complete bloodwork and some other tests. Dr. Mertaugh called me and I went back to his clinic. He explained the results and answered all my questions. His approach was spot on and his treatment has given me and my family more

Very Disappointed 1/5/2012

I called their office this morning and explained my dog was having a problem going to the bathroom what should I do. They said I should bring him in and let the doctor check him over. Well we get there and the doctor was very rude and seemed annoyed with us, would not help get the frightened 100lb dog into the exam room. Informed Me that this visit is $48 and he cant really do anything without 2-3 Xrays and blood work all for a modest price of around $400. We decided that we would not pay all that money, not that we could not afford it, just that the dog was just constipated and we had been looking for ideas to help him out. The doctor wanted to run him through the works. They were no help and cost us $48 for nothing not even a go home and feed him mineral oil "we read on the web" from a vet. \r There are alot of Vet's in this town I will use another next time and if you are reading this you should too. more
