Great care that's Affordable 7/6/2012

We had two of our dogs spayed here and one neutered. They were given great treatment and never had a problem post-op from their surgeries. The incisions were clean and much smaller than expected. This place has been in business for a long time and is affordable for people with multiple pets like me. I will continue to use them in the future. more

"inexpensive but unorganized and inexperienced" 9/11/2010

Money has been tight and we were trying to be frugal so we took our two dogs in. One had a bony growth on his skull and the other just had a nasty flea allergy. We were prepared for the wait. I offered to give my place in line to a couple with a very sick dog and was RUDELY reprimanded by one of the vet techs. When we got in to see the doctor, Kaleb--can't recall his last name, he told us the dog bumped his head. I had offered some information I had found on a cancerous growth on the skull of dogs. He told me he had never heard of the condition. He did an ultrasound and determined it was "just a bump". He looked at our other dog and told us the fleas this year are resistant to the traditional flea products and suggested a flea pill. We asked if it was the same pill that came out in the early 90's because we had given it to our other dogs. He told us we must be mistaken, this is the only one he ever heard of. REALLY?? By that time I was crawling out of my skin and just wanted to leave. As it turns out we took our dog to our regular vet. He did a biopsy on the lump and determined it was cancer. I suggest not bringing your animals there for anything but an immediate fix--nail clipping, neutering, etc. If you don't have the money for a regular vet then you should absolutely do your own research on the condition of your pet and the information they give you. more

I just read the review from Muffins owners 8/29/2010

I just read the review for Animal Medical Center from "Muffins" owners, and I can tell you it is unfair and untrue. I used to work there and was there the day these folks brought their poor doggie in for a cast change. Our Doctors would NEVER have advised a client to come back in 6 weeks later for a cast change. The misunderstanding is on the part of the client, not the hospital. The Doctors on staff are caring and KNOWLEGDEABLE Doctors and we were all horrified at what we saw. Tell tale signs, such as the SMELL should have alerted the clients to the need for medical attention even if they hadn't initially understood the original instructions to bring the dog back every week. I can only hope that they DO NOT get another animal PERIOD. How horrible to place the blame on the Hospital in order to appease your own guilt. SHAME ON YOU!!!! I worked at the Animal Medical Center for 23 months total and never saw neglect on the part of the staff or the Doctors. Having worked in Treatment as an aide to the nurses, I was privvy to diagnoses and return visit insructions which were WRITTEN IN THE CHART OF THE CLIENT!!! It is all there in WRITING!!! SHAME ON YOU PEOPLE FOR BLAMING THE ANIMAL MEDICAL CENTER FOR YOUR MISTAKE!!!!! more

Very Caring Staff 5/31/2010

Our family has been using this Animal Medical Service for over 20 years. They really seem to love our pets as much as we do. I love how they take the time to explain treatments and medications to us. THANK YOU more

they blamed us for animal neglect. 4/13/2010

My family and I brought our dog, Muffin in to have her cast removed. When the vet removed her cast, it was rotting and bleeding away. He then proceeded to yell at my mother for not bringing our dog in every week. HOWEVER, she was told by the staff there that Muffin was to be brought in in 6 weeks…NOT EVERY WEEK. He told us that we should be turned in for animal neglect BUT it was their fault for not telling us the right information. In the end, we had to put her to sleep because we could not afford to amputate the leg that was broken. The staff and vet are VERY RUDE. They can't do their jobs right and i believe that because they didn't provide us with the right information, they deserve to be SUED for the loss of our dog. No one should ever go to this place. It might be cheap but think about what kind of treatment your dog deserves. If my family had been told that it was every week that we were suppose to bring the dog, we would've done it. We did NOT neglect Muffin at all. We offered our care and compassion towards her. more

Loved Them! 12/18/2009

I recently took my dog in for an exam and found my NEW VET! Not only was the vet wonderful but while I was waiting I was watching how hard the staff works, it was so busy but everyone was so nice and friendly. The staff was running it seemed the entire time I was there to answer phones help check in clients, charging people out and all seemed to do it with great friendly smiles. Prices were the best! PAID ONLY 24.00 TO SEE THE DOCTOR I asked him so many questions and was never rushed. this place gets a 5 star!!!! more

BEST VET! Caring staff and great pricing 5/1/2009

I have been taking my pets to Animal Medical center for almost twenty years, first with my sick cat for his monthly injections when AMC was just doing injections and spay/neuter. Now, and for the last several years they have been a full service vet and the care we have received there has always out-shined any other vet. We've sent friends and family to AMC and everyone has had great experiences. They are honest, caring, friendly, skilled, and have a genuine concern for the well fare of animals. Dr. Kendrick, the owner of Animal Medical Center, has been our vet through thick and thin, when our diabetic chihuahua Billy had had enough of his sickness Dr. Kendrick put him to sleep with such care and a gentle touch, though it was painful for us he made the process as smooth as possible. When I bring Billy's 14 year old sister in for her check-ups, no matter how busy they are, Dr. Kendrick always takes an extra moment to pet Honeygirl and tell her what a good girl she is. He always remembers her and tells me how much he likes her every time we go in. The wait can be a little long during busy hours but if you get there when they open at 8am you'll be in and out before you know it. Even when the wait is long it's worth it to know that you're baby is in good hands. I wouldn't recommend anyone else to my family and friends and will never stop taking my babies there. Sometimes it doesn't matter how great the care is, you just can't afford it, well Animal Medical has that covered too. The have the best prices I have ever seen. With them there is no excuse for not taking excellent care of your pets, they make it soo easy. Hope this one helps. more

a retraction from a previous review 4/11/2009

I recently had a terrible experience at the Animal Medical Center in Fountain Valley which upset me very much. I wrote a letter of complaint and received a very nice response (a phone call) from Dr. Kendrick regarding the incident in which he apologized for his staff and said that it looks like a meeting is due with his staff. I think Dr. Kendrick is a wonderful vet and have been going to this Animal Hospital for many years...lately I have noticed some of the staff as being very rude, which is a surprise to me since they have always been so very helpful and caring in the past. The new staff should take some lessons from the staff who have been there for a while. I will continue to take my animals at this Hospital only because of the care and compassion of Dr. Kendrick. more

Great Prices/Friendly Staff 11/23/2008

I will continue to go here with all my animals. I have been there twice, both times the staff and doctor was wonderful! The prices are great. Its a busy place but you can tell everyone loves there jobs and loves the animals. more

Great Veterinarian 11/21/2008

My wife and I (and our pets)had a great experience at Animal Medical Center. Dr. Kendrick is a wonderful veterinarian. He was very kind and compassionate with our dog and cat and provided excellent care. We had seen many other veterinarians for our dog's skin condition and Dr. Kendrick provided the best advice and his treatment worked very well. The prices are affordable too!!! His staff was very professional and friendly and treated us with respect. more

Quick & Caring but Vet Skills Need Improvement 8/14/2008

I went with a friend to have her dog put to sleep. I was told that no appointment was needed and that euthanasia patients were seen quickly ahead of other patients. They kept their promise and we were taken into the exam room as soon as the paperwork and payment were done. A blanket was ready for the dog and both the staff and vet seemed compassionate. The only (BIG) negative was that the vet missed the dog's vein a few times trying to give the injection - causing the dog and his “mommy” extra suffering. more

Very Pleased 8/23/2006

My husband and I had a great experience at this facility. We took our small pom in for an intestinal problem and she was seen by Dr. Kendrick who was very professional, friendly and efficient. He prescribed a new food, medication, gave her an injection and asked us to bring her back in two weeks for follow-up. The cost was a fraction of what we would have paid anywhere else. It is a bit of a drive for us but worth it. more

They don't care about your pets.... 9/23/2005

My dog was really sick and I had to put him to sleep. The receptionist was unfriendly and completely unsympathetic. I told them what needed to be done and they told me that I would have to wait a few hours. The reason was not because they were so busy (there weren't any customers at the time), but because the Vet wanted to take a lunch! I know everybody has to eat but the least they could do was be a little more courteous. The staff there including the Veterinarian acted like I was imposing on their precious lunch time. :( I walked out with my dog and never went back there. more
