RUN AWAY QUICKLY 1/30/2011

been out vet for over 15 yrs - when on burton very caring and friendly. good prices. since move - only bad. push unnecessary tests - push products even when you tell them made pet ill, say oh could not have been spend $80 more and try again. last straw we took in dalmation (15 yrs) for skin problems. having problems with food alergies. gave meds for dalmation we discussed other dogs owned (these dogs they have seen) dal was to be on meds for 3 months. Few weeks later our collie became very ill, panting - stumbling - salivating. Took to St Francis - it was a Sunday. They gave IV's asked what dog could have gotten into, come to find out he had been given dal's food bowl by mistake. The ivermectin the dal was on is toxic to collies. Why did animal care clinic not tell us? Called them on Monday - receptionist said so sorry. No call from vet at all - called back Thursday was told by concerns were addressed. Asked why vet had not called - told she could give him a message to call me. WHY? I asked - a little late. Told her showed how much he cares about the animals. No compassion - in it for $$$$$ - no caring for pets more

I found my new vet! 3/5/2009

Very happy with the service I received here. The staff was helpful and friendly, and the doctor took his time to explain everything in a way I could understand. They even carried my pets out to the car for me. I got a call from them the next day asking how they were doing, which I very much appreciated. I will definitely go back! more

Go Somewhere Else! 4/5/2006

A friend of mine suggested I try this Animal Care Clinic for my kittens who needed to be fixed. She told me that they take walk in's and that they are the cheapest in town. Well I walked in, and while it's a rather new office, bright and clean. The people at the front desk were extremely rude. I was ignored at first, but with persistance I waited to be helped. I asked to make get my cats neutered, or an appointment to do so, and the only response I got was "not here". What? What the hell is that, and what kind of response. I didn't even want to know, so I just walked out. It wasn't worth the time to even bother questioning that response. Go to another clinic. more

Too Busy to Care 3/3/2006

My niece recently purchased a puppy and, wanting to give it the best, she took it to Animal Care Clinic on 112th in Vancouver. During her initial exam she was distressed to have them load her up with over $100 in "their" products but felt confident that the puppy would benefit. She had indicated to the vet that the puppy had not yet been dewormed and was given the medicine in the packet of stuff they sold her. Two weeks later the puppy was not eating right and seemed a little "off" to her so she called the vet's office. She advised them of a worm that resembled a fingernail in the feces and was told that it would be tapeworm and could only be treated with a prescription. The vet assured her that it would be ready for her that afternoon so before leaving the office for lunch she called to see if it was ready. She was treated impatiently and was told "I don't mean to be rude, but let me tell you how it works around here . . ." with the bottom line being that it would not be ready before the next day. When picking up the medicine the staff person was on the phone with another customer and handed her the prescription and took her money and continued with her phone call. This being my niece's first experience, she asked the girl how she was supposed to give it to the dog, for him to chew? The girl then said "No, you just shove it down his throat" and commented to the person on the line "I bet you didn't expect to hear that!" Naturally my niece is very frustrated and angry that she was not given due consideration and the opportunity to ask questions of a professional. Instead she ended up relying on the advice of coworkers. I suppose if you are familiar with animal health care this clinic may suit your needs but I would definitely advise against using them as a resource if you are a novice. more
