Soul Food in North Hollywood 6/20/2003

Although it's been there for 5 years I finally stopped in and had lunch. I was pleasantly surprised. The service was cheerful and attentive. Everything on the menu looked good. I decided on the catfish with a side of greens, black-eye peas (rice and gravy came with). I'm happy to have found some down-home cooking without having to travel into Los Angeles proper and Angelena's is open late by valley standards, until 10pm on the weekends! Get your grub on! Pros: great menu, good food, reasonable prices more

  • Formerly known as Angelena's Soul Food of North Hollywood, this coquettishly named nook resembles a cozy, lived-in kitchen. Inside, guests are welcomed by checkered tablecloths and memento-lined shelves while the floral curtains open to the white picket fence lining the sidewalk tables. The menu takes its cues from the deep south of Georgia, Virginia and Alabama with dishes like pan-fried red snapper, smothered pork chops, barbecue hot links and hush puppies.
