My home warranty company sent Andy’s Statewide to my home to fix my problem. I was told there were major problems (which I knew—it was an old unit) that would cost $1,300 and there were additional code violations/upgrades that I would have to pay for ($300). My warranty company informed me the code violations were not covered and I would have to pay for them myself. I asked Andy’s Statewide what specific violations they were referring to. They could not specify. I asked my warranty company if I could get a second opinion and they let me call my local heating and cooling guy. He confirmed there was a major problem, but no code violations. He fixed the problem for $1,100 (saving my warranty company $200) and saving me $300 for (bogus) code violation. These guys from Andy’s Statewide are either incompetent or crooks. Considering their prominence; I suspect the latter. more

AC Service 5/2/2013

Service tech Ed K. came to do a spring checkup on my (central) AC system. He did the job professionally and was courteous in my dealings with him. He took the time to answer all of my questions completely, and did so in an honest manner. He offered his opinions when I asked, and provided facts to support them. Ed represented his company well. \r I was a little disappointed with the firm in another way. The office told me I could go to their website for info on AC systems made by manufacturers they handle. The info was not available there. The office person, apparently, was not familiar with the website. While Ed was here he able to help me with some of the information I was seeking. more

Avoid Andy's Statewide 6/25/2011

Irresponsible company. Choose another.\r Salesperson was fine, but thereafter our experiences with Andy's Statewide were entirely downhill. Problems at Andy's Statewide apparently stem from management down. Without saying so, field employees agree with customer concerns indicating that they have experienced these problems before.\r Management stonewalls customer's concerns and lies in attempts to evade them. Keep every bit of paperwork, each signed. Only this allowed us to recover nearly $800 due us for which Andy's was clearly responsible.\r Bottom line: avoid Andy's Statewide - not a honest, responsible company. more

Lousy service with a bad attitude 1/9/2009

My furnace went out at the end of December. I was referred to Andy's Statewide by American Home Shield. Andy's service man determined the problem was caused by a dirty air filter, which made it my fault. I can accept that. He also promised a 24-hour turn-around.\r \r Five days and three times as many phone calls later, with a recommendation from American Home Shield that I pursue legal action against Andy's Statewide, he finally came back with the missing piece. First I was told he was sick and didn't tell anyone to call me; then I was told it was a supplier problem. The repair man himself told me he couldn't believe how long it took the get the part.\r \r I was charged full price for the repairs after five days without heat in the middle of a Detroit winter.\r \r I will be taking Andy's Statewide to court. I wouldn't recommend this outfit to anyone under any circumstances. Pointing out that the invoice itself says ""24 Hour Emergency Service"" will get you nothing but a snotty retort from the ""Customer Service"" manager that ""we don't control our suppliers.""\r \r Well, Ford didn't make it's own tires during the Firestorm debacle, but they were ultimately responsible for it, weren't they?\r \r Stay tuned - I will post the outcome of the court case. Cons: Dishonest serivce people, rude management, complete disregard for the customer more

Reoccuring problem 6/19/2008

We used this company twice to repair our furnace. They seem friendly on the phone, but the service techs really don't know a lot about warranties on specific brands. Do the research yourself. The tech tried to charge us for a repair that was still warranted. Their billing is confusing because they use a flat rate and won't break down the cost of their part versus labor service. Our furnace has broke again, and we will be having them back only because their service is warranted for a year. more
