Delicious Cake and very easy to work with! 7/28/2011

Being that I am a cake connoisseur, well, at least I think of myself as one, I was very involved in picking out my cake for my wedding day. I went to 6 different bakeries to taste cake! (The best part about planning a wedding!) Amy Beck Cake Design was our last tasting, and we were floored with the deliciousness of the cake. We tried all sorts of cake flavors and frostings; Amy Beck was there with us along the way informing us of various flavor combination's. She was very helpful, nice and down to earth and super easy to work with. We decided on the Devil's Food Cake with Creme Cheese Filling and Chocolate Ganache frosting...decadent! It turned out absolutely beautiful and tasted amazing. Guests couldn't stop talking about the cake and even months after the wedding I still hear how wonderful the cake was! She also did a fabulous cake for one of my friend's son's 1st birthday party. I can't wait to use her again. Beautiful and Delicious Cake! 9/19/2010

I can't say enough about the cake we received from Amy for our Teddy Bear Ball event. I told Amy we had a zoo theme and gave her our foundation logo and asked her to just be creative. The cake was EVERYTHING I hoped for and so much more. I would never get a cake from anyone else in this city. Not to mention she is one of the nicest and sweetest people I've ever worked with. Keep up the great work, Amy! more

Birthday Cake 8/23/2010

I've written a review before, but I had to write another one! I have now ordered 3 cakes from Amy. One for a good friend, one for my husband and now one for ME! I was excited to have an excuse to get my own cake from Amy, for my birthday. I had a rough idea of what I was looking for and after sharing those thoughts with Amy, she created a custom cake that was exactly what I wanted, even if I didn't know it yet. The cake was delicious and beautiful. My guests raved all night about how awesome the cake looked, tasted and that it was totally a 'me' cake! I highly recommend Amy for any cake, she is talented, amazing but truly cares about her customers. I can't wait to get another cake! more

40th Birthday Cake 7/1/2010

Amy made a fantastic cake for my husband's surprise 40th birthday party. It looked great exactly what I envisioned and tasted even better. Amy was very easy to work with especially with the distance. We live in NC and our family and party local was in Chicago. A lot of detail and work went into this cake and it showed. I would highly recommend her for any event you may have planned. WHAT A CAKE!!!!!!!! 3/20/2010

I had Amy make a cake for my daughter in laws baby shower. I wanted something unique and asked her to design it after my son's favorite book as a child ""light in the attic"" she brought the book to life. It was the hit of the shower. Just beautiful. The taste was incredible, so moist. Even the staff at the restaurant Dine got to try some and were in awe. She is a joy to work with as well. Thank you Amy. I couldn't imagine using anyone but you for a special occasion. more

Beautiful and Delicious Cakes! 2/2/2010

I ordered a cake shaped like a kazoo for my Grandfathers 90th birthday party. I had never ordered a cake like this before and Amy was so nice and helpful. Her shop is warm and welcoming. The cake was beautiful and tasted SO GOOD! Even after it was served people kept coming up and cutting their own piece of what little was actually leftover! Cake so pretty its shame it has to be eaten! 12/18/2009

A tasty wedding cake that had our guests raving for months after the wedding. Thought it was pricey, we still feel it was worth every penny. The best wedding cake ever! 11/14/2009

We met with Amy 2 months before our wedding. We didn't know what we wanted for our cake with the only exception....we didn't want anything traditional. With our wedding at Wrigley Field, Amy came up with 3 different desings that ""knocked it out of the park"". I still can't believe that the end result was a delicious dessert! Amy was very easy going and listened to every last detail that we discussed and she took the reins and delivered a work of art that our guests still have not stopped talking about! I felt guilty cutting into it, but I'm glad we did because not only was it gorgeous to look at, it was absolutely delicious. I would reccomment Amy Beck to anyone that needs a wonderful cake for any event. Pros: Professional, easy to work with, exceeds every expectation more

AMAZING!!!!!!!!!! 11/13/2009

I worked with Amy for about 2 months on a cake for our comapny's 50th year anniversary party. We are based in MN, so had to all the work via e-mail and mail. It was a very detailed concept we were looking for and she nailed it perfectly. The cake was a surprise for the owners and they couldn't believe it. (They were each in the cake as figures)! It was also received well with all the attendees of the event, so much so, that we are in the process of having the top (which was removable) brought back to MN to put on display! It should be here by Monday!!!! Thanks Amy for all your hard work and attention to detail! more

my guests are still talking about our wedding cakes 10/9/2009

We met with Amy a little less than a year ago. It was like walking into a friends home. She was very welcoming and the smell of the cakes being made was out of this world! I had already spoken to her about surprising my husband with a groomscake before we arrived so she really paid attention to what flavors he liked best. She asked us to tell her about ourselves and as we spoke she sketched, minutes later she had drawn the perfect wedding cake. It was everything we wanted and the flavors were outstanding. My husband and I are avid motorcyclists and I had Amy make the Harley Davidson logo as his groomscake. He and our guests were wowed with that!!! We were married at the Adler in June and months later everyone is still talking about how amazing our cakes were, visually stunning and tasted awesome!!! Amazing Attention to Detail!!!!! 10/8/2009

Amy and her team did an amazing job on the groom's cake for my wedding on 9/19/09. She replicated his motorcycle and well let's just say it was a huge hit! Everyone was in awe of her work and amazing attention to detail. When I did the tasting I couldn't decide on a filling so she boxed up some cake and the fillings I was torn between for me to take home. Amy is a true gem in this crazy world. Doing business with her was like dealing with my best friend. I will suggest her to everyone I know! Pros: Great Service, Very Professional, Beautiful Work Cons: NONE! more

A++ for Wedding Cakes 10/5/2009

I loved the wedding cake Amy did for us. It was beautiful and it was really, really good. We did a few tastings before finding Amy, but weren?t wowed by how any of the cakes tasted. Then we had a tasting w/ Amy and signed her right away. Her cakes don?t taste like your typical wedding cakes. They?re moist and flavorful and her work is beautiful. She was very easy to work with and listened to what we wanted. We also did 4 different cake flavors and fillings (1 per layer). So, we had a cake station which was a big hit. Meet w/ Amy if you want your cake to taste really, really good and for it to be beautiful as well. more

Fantastic 10/5/2009

I was just married on September 26th and Amy made our wedding cake. When we first went to our tasting, she was so friendly and cared about what we wanted. She did not try to get us to buy an outrageous cake. The cake was like no other cake I have ever tasted. Each time I contacted Amy, she remembered me by name and I felt pleased by not being just another client. Her cakes are fantastic and the service you get is even better. Thank you so much for helping to make my wedding memorable. more

Great, great cake, terrific customer service 10/2/2009

Amy was wonderful! I called from out of town on a party I was planning from 2000 miles away. She worked with me and my budget, and dealt with the ""surprise"" element of the party extremely well (as well as the sense of humor we were working on, in terms of making the cake funny for the guest of honor). The cake was also DELICIOUS and everyone at the party commented on how great it looked AND how great it tasted. Highly recommended. Pros: Custom design, sense of humor more

Amy did the wedding cake for my may 09 wedding and we decided to go with a tower of cupcakes since we were having a casual brunch reception. OMG! The MOST fabulous cake!! 10/2/2009

For my recent wedding in June, I asked Amy to create a surprise groom's cake for my future husband. An avid fan of Star Wars, Amy and I worked together to identify the character that would be best featured in cake form. We chose R2D2 and I came to grips that there would be a Star Wars character at my wedding. When my husband and I arrived at the reception, R2 was the first thing I saw when I entered. My husband and I actually screamed when we saw him. This cake was BEYOND my expectation. The detail put into this cake was superior to anything I've seen. The colors were exact. The form of the robot was so realistic, my husband didn't realize it was a cake! This cake was the hit of the wedding. We didn't take the top of our actual wedding cake home, but did take R2 home (he was so fantastic, we wouldn't let anyone cut and eat him). Amy designed our cake for our 8/1/09 wedding, which was held at the Trump Towers. The cake was absolutely beautiful and tasted wonderful! We had many, many compliments on the apprearance and on the taste of our gorgeous cake. Amy is a top notch professional. I was referred to Amy via a work colleague ? and I was delighted by the whole experience. Amy is down to earth, quick with email questions and above all that - she is a master baker. This gal can create things I can?t even dream up! Our guests couldn?t stop talking about how delicious our Chocolate bourbon cake with Raspberry cream filling was that evening.
